“Yea you are right but we can jump down at any given moment so what’s the point of it?”
“You are right but as a reader of many novels I conclude that this should not be where our survival league begins.” I used to read tons of novels, and I guess they should come in handy now. my preferred genre used to be thriller fantasy but I've read other stuff too and this place and this creature remind me of the system genre.
“I don’t think it’s about daily necessities as well.” It was a tall guy with subtle features who interrupted our chat.
“And who are you?”
“I’d like to join your team...”
“Team?”
“Yeah, everyone who decided to stay here is making teams. I thought you were a team.”
I finally looked around at the remaining people. There was less than ten percent of the original left at the moment… and they all looked like South Asians??
“People got sent to different places according to their ethnicity. You guys need to come out of your chats and look at the surroundings.”
“Ohh..”
People were making teams. There stood teams of 2 to 10 people scattered everywhere. But there was an ugly duckling close behind us.
“I tried talking to him he’s a weird one; doesn’t even bother replying.”
It was a dark-skinned guy with sharp features. His eyes were focused unlike us the confused ones. He looks like that psychopath character of a story that shouldn’t be messed with. This type of guy always has a silly delusional girl who is in love with his 'personality' that she cooked up in her brain. She doesn't seem to have appeared yet. Pitiful character, but she tries to change him throughout the story and ends up either as a villain or simply dies, they need to understand that one should never try to change a man, especially like him. Why make life difficult on purpose? I dislike those characters more than the actual psychopath.
"By the way, are you a mind reader or something?? How did you know I was thinking about him? I am keeping you in… I mean we are.” I said looking at Vanshika. She seems weird who knows what part she kept hidden from the people?
“Haha yea, we are keeping. Man Ashleen you can’t even let me keep a straight face.” She busted out laughing looking at me.
“Huh?”
“I was trying to scare you, gurl”
“Now that is more like you.” Now it was my time to shine as a third-wheeler.

“You are weird,” said the guy.
"You are a mind reader, aren't you?
“Yeah, by the way, you are also a smart one.” He said signaling towards the psychopath man.
“Then read hers why mine?”
“I can’t read hers that’s why I joined you.”
“Then you can’t read him as well?”
“Yup, I can read everybody else’s except these two. So why not be in the team with someone that can pose a threat later.”
“You got brains huh? Why are you sure we won’t use and throw you?”
“Told ya, I can read brain, my dear.”
“What about her?”
“Humans got basic intuition.”
“Ok, Ok, You are in.”
“I was in the very moment I asked you…”
“You-”
Before I could continue, the mousy creature interrupted. But I didn't need to speak, he can read minds after all.
"Miss, don't be that harsh. I thought you were elegant types.
“Huh?”
I looked at Vanshika. Her clothing had changed. She was wearing a purple-colored, long lehnga-type dress with tons of jewelry. It looked uncomfortable. So much jewelry and stuff, how is she even gonna move?
Then I looked at myself. I was wearing a sky-blue dress. It was knee long and there was a thick dark blue waistband on my waist with a golden-red brochure. There wasn't a lot of jewelry. It looked way more comfortable than hers.
“You guys seem to be working hard. You have already made teams. But sorry to tell you there is a change you need to make. Those who made teams are at a loss, those who wanted to go alone are at a loss as well.
Everyone looked at each other
"You can only make teams of two people."
The guy who just joined politely stepped back.
"You, people, need to play given roles. Get your partners with these requirements." Just as it finished, a blue screen popped up in front of everyone.
A variable who holds the courage to change your destiny. Said mine.
A princess who is your only shortcoming. Said Vanshika's,
A prince who can cancel out your shortcomings.
This time Ashleen stepped back.
"What now? Why is mine so hard to find?" Asked Vanshika looking at her.
“Hey, Miss fantasy reader, look around.”
“Huh…” In a few moments, people were in couples leaving me out.
“You are not alone…” said Vanshika looking behind me. I had a hunch. It can’t be him. He’s so handsome; someone should have paired with him.
“Don’t tell me…” I collected the courage to look behind me. Both of them nodded together scattering the last bit of my hope.
“Ahh! Fk when did you come here? You startled me.” He was standing right behind me. That guy was standing right behind me as if I was invisible and he could anytime pass through.
He was silent. He didn't look at her either. Ashleen stepped away a little and slowly turned back to face her sister; to discover none of them there.
“Where…”
“There.” He pointed at a stage. All other platforms were almost on the same level as mine and the only thing that looked far away was that stage.
“Where did it appear from?” He didn't say anything. It was a wonder that replied earlier.
“They are chosen to take the entry as crowned kings and queens. It means they’ll start with the advantage of having not to go through hard parts of the scenarios” It was a girl from earlier replying to me.
“Scenarios? How do you know?”
“You need to listen to the speaking creature.”
“Oh! Sorry, I’ll try to.”
“Mhmm” She vanished along with her partner as soon as she was done telling.
Ting!
A screen appeared in front of me.
You’ll be transferred to your position in an hour
An hour? The people on the stage vanished as well.
“Mr. Creature?”
Of course, that thing didn’t reply, instead, it glared at me and vanished.
Feels like I’ll have to figure everything out myself. But what do I need to figure out? I’ll just take things as they come. Then... should I sleep?... Are you an idiot Ashleen?
