The first thing she did after landing in a high area was to look for all the orcs present. She had counted them in previous turns as well, except for the one that was building tall, there were 5 which seemed to be kids and 15 looked like adults. The tallest one should be the leader.
She needs to subdue the leader to take control of the situation. In her last premonition she fought alongside others and shared mana a few times but making sure not to overexert herself, they ended up eliminating about 15 orcs both big and small when she finally felt that they had the upper hand, the tallest orc suddenly appeared and turned the tables.
This time she wants to make the leader feel threatened enough to make its appearance earlier, and for that, she needs to use her imagination. She wants to finish it as soon as possible because she can’t be sure whether she alone will be enough to finish this all. But in the previous turns when she did the scenario along with others she ended up losing them so she can’t bring herself to take the risk.
I have to do it myself, she thought, and when she was about to start a bell rang in her head; the healer lady… she might still be sleeping, head slapper… she can’t go back now so she murmured trying her luck “healer lady, get up and protect yourself.” Her luck did work and the lady woke up and was startled by the message she received protect yourself. She was sure something wrong might have happened so she looked out the window and saw a lot of destruction going on in the distance and her attention was attracted by a dark red cloud-looking something at the top of the tallest building in the area.
On the other side, Anik and others were being guided by an arrow generated by the system to take them to the center of the fight. Anik was sure that what he was gonna see was not pleasant after seeing that Ashleen was trembling so badly after getting out of her premonition. According to the distance he saw between himself and that red cloud it’ll take him about 15 minutes to get there.
Ashleen doesn’t have 15 minutes to spare at all. She remembers that it takes about 17 minutes to get here since she already repeated that process about ten times.
She needs to finish what she is doing soon to have the least possible accidents; at least casualties should be none. She had already made a rough plan when she was still in his embrace. It is normal for people to know that hugging is beneficial but the amount of clear-headedness she felt at that moment made her feel that no matter how much it gets trendy, hugging would remain underrated. She can do this if did intelligently. She was telling herself this repeatedly so as not to start trembling on the spot.
All the 20 orcs were in the area visible to her, each of them enjoying the destruction as if it was a game for them. Child-looking ones played with humans as if they were toys and adult-looking ones looked at each other as if competing. Ashleen had seen this scene already but the heart never seems to become numb to it.
She finally took a deep breath and was ready to start.
With her first step, obvious cheering could be heard from the crowd below, even Anik and others were able to look at everything going on there still yards away from them with houses blocking their vision.
A few orcs were in the air, twitching and shrieking with the pain, on the other hand, Ashleen seems to be never getting enough of it. When she originally imagined she aimed for the adult ones but right after her imagination kicked her other side in, her aim changed for the kids. Looking at the sudden blow to their team, orcs retreated a bit but after realizing that the kids were the ones in danger almost all of them forgot what they were doing and dashed towards her.
She was unbothered about it, and with no trace of fear, she raised her free hand towards the ones dashing at her and all of them started falling after hitting something, there was nothing in front of them but they seemed unable to move ahead.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
But she was late, one of the orcs was faster and was fiercely running at her like a wild beast, it jumped to attack her and she kept staring at it, 10 ft, 9 ft, she still did nothing except tighten the fist controlling the kid orcs, all of them screamed simultaneously and the wildness of the orcs eyes grew even deeper. 5ft, 4 ft, Ashleen finally removed the poker face and smirked.
3ft, orc stretched out its long arm as if to rip apart her in a single blow…Pierce! An ear-exploding scream after the piercing sound followed by a loud laugh, along with the distorted faces of civilians made Anik feel his wits coming to an end.
Ashleen looked at the scene as she flew a bit high from the previous place. She was smiling, smiling contentedly as she enjoyed the scene freely after letting go of the wall and the kids. The supposed victim of the orc’s attack was changed so quickly that he didn’t even get the chance to retreat its arm. His arm went straight through 3 kid-sized orcs, killing two and heavily hurting one.
Other orcs came running in that direction and after realizing what happened, looked at Ashleen. She shrugged looking at them and lifted her hand again picking up the hurt orc again,
“Ashleen! Behind you!” she stared in the direction the voice came from and without looking back she tossed the orc in her hand at the orc that tried to sneak attack on her from behind.
I don’t need you to warn me but after all, you are my 80% power source I’ll let you join in. She thought and all the humans in her surroundings got dragged out from the area where she was having “fun”.
The wall stopping the orcs was now stopping any possible human interference. Anik looked at the area people were unable to get through and gritted his teeth. He was still running and even before he could have reached the battleground there was this wall. But no matter what he wasn’t giving up. Others stood where they were after realizing there was no way to go beyond and think about what could be done but Anik kept running as if to break this wall.
Ashleen flew a bit higher, out of orc’s coverage, and looked at Anik, "Idiot human, won’t even stop and realize the wall is open for him. She smiled and kept looking."
A few feet later he needs to use all his strength to push the wall, a single crack is enough as long as there is a way. He thought and accelerated his speed, a few steps… he prepared himself for the collision. 3, 2, 1, he thought, and instead of the collision he went straight through it, lost balance, and fell face down in the middle of the orcs. Seeing that Anik went through, Akansha, still shocked by Ashleen’s appearance, ran to cross the wall but bumped and fell.
All the orcs looked at the unexpected guest and as if they found a puppet to vent their anger on each of them lifted their hands to crush him down to a pulp. Ashleen smiled ready to take a step, but even before she lifted her hand she saw Anik fighting his way out from there. She changed her position from standing to cross-legged sitting as if trying to peacefully enjoy the show. She supported her chin with one hand and looked at the scene below.
Anik was fighting efficiently and it was way better than what she had seen in her premonitions. Ashleen had to stop an attack or two for him but he was the one who saved himself overall.
After getting to a safe distance from the orcs, he activated his long-scale battle skill. Ashleen wanted to enjoy this for a bit but sighed, and lifted her hand, Anik suddenly felt a lot of power rush inside him and instantly knew it was Ashleen’s mana transfer. He looked at her hoping she would be back to normal but instead of changing back, she was just busy facing the leader. Anik was taken aback for a moment after looking at the size of this monster. On the other hand, cheers could be heard from the orcs and as if they got a new power surge, they all attacked simultaneously. Anik now understood why the Demonic Ashleen bothered to spare him some mana, she had no intention to make it easy for him, she just made sure he won’t die and turned around.
Now face to face with the creature she met just twice even after having the numerous premonitions, she felt excited, so excited that she wasn’t able to hide her deep smile. Originally she wanted to have fun, but now after letting Anik in, either she can enjoy herself with the leader and lose her power or finish him off quickly and join Anik. She can throw Anik out but she doesn’t want to. If it was normal Ashleen, she would have questioned herself but now she just did what she wanted to.
Leader Orc’s presence was so intimidating that the civilians couldn’t help but curl up. On the other hand, Akansha tried her best to stay standing and was surprised after seeing the kid in front of her not even struggling the slightest; as if the orc was nothing to him he kept staring at the scene in front of them.
