“Back to others”
“Okay,” I said and walked behind him, it’s better if others are around. I can’t be sure if he’ll even think about my safety. The people he cares about are those guys. And Mr. Alien might try a bit to make sure that at least I won’t die after all that guy used to get himself in trouble trying to save others and then bro had to save him along with the people he was trying to save.
I can’t use any powers related to Mr. Demon so I need to survive on my skills. My skills, I opened my skill box. Imagination and Premonition belonged to Demon and I can't use them; and he gave me close combat for this period when he was not around, since the masters are so sensitive to his essence I should try not to use close combat, I don't know why he gave it to me in the first place. Even if I am to use it, I can’t be too confident, after all, I never did use it. Skills belonging to me are empathy and the third person’s perspective. I understand what those are but I can’t seem to think of a way where I can use them. I’ll need someone to help me stay alive. And the last skill of mine… I’ve no idea what it is, it is represented with several question marks. That’s it.
I don’t know how long we walked, but I ended up bumping into Bro when he suddenly stopped. I quickly stepped back and tilted my head to look in front of him, there was a group of people standing in front of us. It was turning dark, so I wasn’t able to see who these people were, but I can say that they haven't seen water in few days, they stocked so badly that I had to cover my nose.
All I can do is hope that the group of people in front of us is part of the main characters, if they are from the good side they won't fight us; if they are from the bad side they won't dare to fight us.
Ge pushed me back a bit and grabbed the hilt of his 'iconic' sword. No need to think a lot, there is going to be a fight. But I don’t remember him fighting anyone at this part in the book. But I've already tilted the course a little, I can't blame the book. I silently took a few steps back, hoping no one will notice my presence. I just wanted to go hide behind some tree or something. One step back, two steps, and I knew I was near bushes. Another step and I bumped into something.
“Fk- I am a goner.” I felt something uncomfortably soft and cold touching my elbow.
I slowly turned my head back hoping it was just a tree. Of course in my heart I know it is not, how can a tree be as soft as a human? I don’t know how but in an instant I found the guy behind me lying on the ground whining. Okay… it wasn’t Ge, who did something to this guy; I concluded after seeing him taking down a bunch of guys on his own, I think I am the one who kicked… wait are those humans? I felt cold sweat on my back as I looked closely at those guys, then looked at the ‘human’ lying in front of me, these were zombies.
The zombie in front of me was stumbling and struggling to stand on its feet and it was extremely stinky. Looking closely, his body was slowly decomposing, and his exposed body parts looked terrible to look at, leave alone his window to the soul. This novel was confusing sometimes, especially its specific genre. Sometimes it was completely scientific and sometimes even the clarifications made by the writer were not reasonable enough. What would have writer used to explain these zombies? Feng Shui? Yin Yang?
Originally there were at most ten zombies but now they were coming from everywhere attacking bro... completely ignoring my existence. In the movies, zombies are attracted to the human smell, the Punma guy should see this scene. He pissed me off when he said that bro smelled like death and there's something wrong with him, look at this his human essence is so strong that they are not even noticing me. I don't know how should I feel about being ignored but no worries I have one trying to stand just for me.
“Shit--- what am I supposed to do?”
The zombie in front of me finally stood up and as if regaining all his mobility, attacked like an animal. I dodged an attack or two and subconsciously kicked his face when I got a chance. He fell away in the distance near bro, he got up again and went for bro again, maybe he was not coming for me in the first place and I was the one who got in his way.
My close combat, I don’t think I need to use my brain for it. Wait does this work as muscle memory or something?
I know he won’t have any issue fighting these people. I should just try not to become a bother. Who cares if I can be of some help? I simply climbed a tree nearby and waited for him to end everything. In about an hour he was done. He stood amidst bits and pieces of the stuff he killed, legs, arms, torso, and most importantly decomposed brains were lying all around him. He held his sword in one hand and wiped it clean on his other inner arm sleeve. He folded his arm and held the sword in the inner arm and swipe! Then put his sword back in its scabbard. Realizing that it’s all over I slowly climbed down the tree. When I landed it made a thumping voice. He must have forgotten about me given that his sword came piercing in a second and embedded itself in the tree bark just an inch away from me.
Just how much of an inexistence am I? Zombies won't come for me and he completely forgot about me in an hour.
“Bro, it’s me, man.” I pulled his sword thinking of carrying it back to him, instead the sword of so heavy that I almost fell with its weight. The hilt was still warm from the previous fight and there was a hint of wetness under my hands, I don't know whether it is his sweat or blood. No matter what it was, I can say it feels pleasant. It’s not like I am not familiar with swords. Back in the normal world, my family had quite several swords at home and, indeed, the sword is not weightless, but his sword is more like a heavy hammer. And in this world, I still don't have one.
Anyways he still stood there without moving so I kindly dragged his sword to him.
“Hey! Did you get injured?? Did they bite you?” Even if he got scratched or bitten there's nothing to worry about, after all his 'pure blood' is so pure that nothing can harm him easily, although his purity is itself harmful but anyways it can't be changed.

He looked as if wanted to say something.
“Hhhh I overestimated you.” Oh, wait they say when something is bound to happen it will happen, one way or another. He got injured and if my guess is right then it should be a wound in his abdomen area.
“You okay?”
He said nothing and silently dragged himself to a nearby tree and sat down supporting himself with the tree trunk and started putting pressure on his stomach. For real injury is in his abdomen. I can’t think of something I can do except mana transfer. I sat down at a little distance from him, he doesn’t trust people but I think he might not refuse me since I already did transfer mana to him once.
I collected mana in my single palm, I think that the intensity is better with a single hand. I didn’t touch him this time. Who knows what an injured wolf might do? So I passed Mana from at least a fist distance. He twitched his eyebrows a little but his frown eased a bit after I was done. I transferred mana already several times today, I felt hella sleepy. But I can’t bring myself to sleep just yet; I got up and stood nearby and looked at him hoping he can trust me a bit and sleep a little to recover quickly after all if there’s another fight or something later, I’ll need him. This man never sleeps, like his sleep is shallower than some promises. He looks like he is sleeping and a single creak of the door can make him as alert as a tiger in a second.
If he got injured then the case should be the same with fatty. But if he’s with Mr. Alien then it should be alright. But if we waited anymore, then they both might already go back to the capital city, the city they live in. I sighed a little and pondered if I should tell him this or not. In the novel, fatty and he was rushed to the hospital together. I looked at him. I don’t know if he fainted or was sleeping. Better chances are he fainted. He’s the type of guy who won’t sleep unless he’s sure everything’s alright. The novel never really described his physical appearance, all it said was about his mysteriousness and how he was almost mute. Now that I got to see him in person, he’s handsome despite all the scars on his face. He looks less than twenty in age but the level of his calmness is out of this world. It’s just that I feel fate is too cruel to him. Ten thousand years of life, forgetting all about himself each decade and then setting out for a harsh journey all so that he can find out who he is and then as soon as finds about himself, he loses his memory again. My train of thought came to a break when I heard something. I tried listening carefully, but again there was the same noise. It was coming from somewhere near bro. Snore! He’s sleeping?? Not just that, he’s also snoring. Wtf- just what place is he sleeping so soundly at…
After a few hours, I saw the sun rising on the other side. When is this guy gonna wake up?? Should I wake him up? I don’t want to. In the entire book, there were very less mentions of him sleeping. Unless he was in a hospital bed, it’s hard to see him sleeping like that. Sun is rising so there won’t be any more zombies. I was too sleepy to keep my eyes open anymore. The upper eyelid felt like, it was being pulled by some supernatural force. This feeling is exactly how I used to feel in my organic chemistry classes. I yawned and sat down with my back supported by a tree trunk near this weird guy. In the book he still was understandable but now this guy is… no idea, what he is. I don’t know when I slept but when I woke up he wasn’t there anymore. The sun was shining brightly. I panicked a little. In the middle of nowhere, even if I somehow find a way to get to the nearest city what would I do later?
There was a sudden moment behind me, I subconsciously kicked in the direction and my foot was blocked by a skilled arm. I retreated my foot and looked at the person standing behind me, it was bro.
“I thought you disappeared again.”
He was silent but there was something in his hands, it was a dead rabbit. He continued moving without sparing a glance. I stood up and followed him. He picked up his bag and started walking in a certain direction. Should I tell him about others now or; should I let him have his food peacefully first? After a few more minutes I bumped into something… again. He stood in front of me just like last night, I looked ahead getting ready to run away. But there were no pieces of any danger at all. Instead, it was a beautiful riverbank in front of us. I don’t remember there was something like that in the novel in this part. Anyways who cares? I am not the type who can refrain herself when there is such a clean river in front of me. Just thinking about dipping my feet in this water gives me a cool feeling. I quickly removed my shoes and socks and ran towards it, but I was pulled back by my collar.
I looked back at him, he pointed in a certain direction. “Shit I was almost dead” a crocodile was laying silently on the bank. Then he started walking along the bank about 300 meters away from the actual waterline. He saw a croc from such a distance, his eyesight is praiseworthy. I picked up my shoes and followed him closely. The sand under my feet felt warm and soothing. Now that I noticed myself, my clothes changed from that princess-type to hiker-type. Wait I even had a bag pack. Just how ignorant can someone be to be unable to notice a bag on their back? And once more I bumped into him. It feels like I was doing it on purpose. How can someone repeat a single mistake thrice in a row?
But he looked unbothered. He started walking towards the river. I just followed this time. No running. I kept my shoes a bit away from the water and sat down silently on a rock nearby. I wanna dip my feet so bad but he was washing the rabbit in the water. No matter what, that rabbit was still eatable. I can’t bring myself to dip feet in it when he’s washing it. I waited for him to finish it quickly, and looked at the fish in the river. I got up from the rock, removed my bag pack, my jacket; stuffed it into my bag, and then I placed my bag near my shoes. I went near the water and stayed silent for a while. When a fish approached me, I slowly, very silently tried to touch it. Almost there, touched it, just a sec; I don’t think I was ever so focused to do something. Even during my board exams, I ended up sleeping in the middle of the exams. No matter whether I knew the answers or not, the process was the same. If I knew the answers then it was too boring to write, if I didn’t then it is too bothersome to think or cheat. I still wonder how I ended up scoring 80%. Maybe there was a mistake in checking. Who cares though, now I am here, trying to touch a fish, that’s it.
When I was about to touch it, it suddenly made a sudden splash. I was startled and almost fell back. The fish swam away and I was left there. I stared in a daze for a while, maybe because of lack of sleep I was feeling too slow to function normally. I looked at him to know whether he was done or not.
Done? I was thinking about done or not, and this guy was busy bathing in the river. I looked back to see where the dead body of the rabbit went, maybe it got alive again and ran away. Of course not. It was on being cooked directly over the fire. I don’t know when he did all that but now that he was done, I finally dipped my feet in the river.
“Haaah… it’s so comfortable.” It was so comfortable that I felt sleepy again. I supported my head with my hand and looked at the river. Fishes were moving here and there as if in a rhythm… soon I think I fell asleep.
My sleep was bothered again by a strange smell, it was unfamiliar, and given the way the original novel proceeded who knows what scientifically supernatural awaits me.
