Cold

“Where were you going? Shouldn’t you stay in bed if you are cold?” Anik still couldn’t get a grip on what went wrong. There was mention of Ashleen feeling very cold after every scenario but it was in the ending scenarios. Then why was it happening now?

Anik didn’t read the comic to the end as well, maybe there was an explanation in later chapters, but he dropped it right after Ashleen died.

“To Akansha…” Now even her teeth were chattering.

“Why?”

“Slee… sleep with her…”

"..."

"I don't know... forget it"

“Should I accompany you there?”

“No, forget it… I’d just sleep in my room…” Sneeze!

“Is… is there something I can help you with?”

“Nah… I’m fine, I don’t know what… what’s more overwhelming… drowsiness or cold…” she tried yawning and it was interrupted by a sneeze.

“Good night then… call me if you need something”

“Hmmm,” she replied and entered the room.

Anik came back to his room, feeling uneasy. I didn’t read the entire comic, and this cold was mentioned several times, it’s just that I failed to get into its detailing. I should ask the healer lady about this. He sat up straight on the bed with this thought. But no I don’t think she’d understand this, after all in the comic even the demon didn’t bother to do anything about it; maybe he knew it’d be futile. He takes care of his host pretty well all the time. It was Ashleen who surrendered first... He wasn't even like a 'devil' maybe. Who is he? Now it's a regret not finishing the book.

There's another possibility, he might have wanted to do something about it but there was no one on her side throughout the time she went through this in the comic. And healer lady becomes one of the 10 best healers later on. I should ask her. But what can be the cause for her sudden coldness? I’ve read quite a lot of the comic… there was rarely any mention of it… head slammer!

Instead of thinking about what happened in the comic, I should think about what happened here till now. And the answer is clear. She was stabbed by that healer guy in the first scenario, and Aunty said the sword had poison on it. I didn’t give a thought to it in the beginning because there was no mention of this poison being something worrisome in any later chapters. But what kind of poison could it be?

My skills had something like poison but I don’t remember anyone with this skill in the comic, maybe I might have skipped that part because I was too interested in Ashleen’s and Vanshika’s story.

I guess I can only figure it out once I try it.

Why is it so cold? Anik was not feeling cold at all. It’s just me. What might have gone wrong? I don’t remember anything even touching me in the last scenario. Then it should be the first scenario. I remember healer aunt saying the healer guy’s sword had poison, but I was too busy feeling invincible and sad at the same time that I almost forgot this detail.

Poison… Anik had a skill named poison; I should ask him after all he doesn’t need to sleep. As she tried to get up she felt her limbs had gone numb,

Shit! It’s worse than I imagined, even the internal temperature is not normal anymore.

Ashleen tilted her head to look outside, it’s almost morning. The healer lady should come to check on Anik. I hope she comes here too.

Just when she was thinking about it she heard her room door open, it should be healer lady, she thought and tried to raise her head to look. Fortunately, only her lower half limbs were numb yet. She raised herself with the help of elbows and looked ahead. She can no longer care about shivering and stuff. Surviving became her priority in just a few minutes.

It wasn’t the healer lady that entered the room. It was Anik.

“You..you?” her voice became almost inaudible at this point.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

“I think you are poisoned.”

I think I nodded when he said that but I don’t know whether my body is listening to me anymore. But he continued regardless. My consciousness was still somehow pretty stable.

“Let me check it for you.”

“Hmm…”

I saw him trying to check my pulse, my arm was numb but where he touched it left a tingling sensation. It might be because of the sudden warmness my body felt. That was the moment I felt I should have taken my studies seriously. I was a med student after all.

He touched and retracted his arm, looked at me, and then held it again. I wanted to laugh and I guess I did make some moment showing I was laughing because he glared at me weirdly.

“You got something to say? Blink your eye twice if yes.” I did blink my eye twice. If there is a way I can speak now why would I refuse? After all, I get my energy solely by speaking for no reason.

Anik is inviting you to Mayday trust

Accept_______________ Decline

“Accept it.”

How do you know about it??

“You understood how to use that without me explaining? Good progress.” “I found it while messing around with my message center”

Ohh

“What did you want to say though?”

Oh that, I do have something to ask. What poison is it?

“It is a strain of ‘Bone Chilling’. You won't know about it since you don't have any skills regarding poison or healing. It is…”

Hey!! I know about that

“Huh? How?”

I saw it in two dramas.

“Dramas?”

Yes yes. It is bone-chilling and because of it person feels very very cold. And if not treated timely, a person might die; though in both dramas the poisoned people survived.

“How did they survive?”

I don’t remember, but I think in one they met some snake person and he made some medicine using some nonexistent herbs, which the other lead of the drama found for their lover…

“Nonexistent?” he smiled

I mean ultra-rare herbs… why are you smiling?

“You are hopeless”

Am I dying so quickly… uhh man it’s gonna be a pathetic one.

“Don’t worry I won’t let my 80% go so easily.”

Is it ba dump! my heart… my heart felt like it was freezing. I was already wondering how my consciousness was still there, but it did not go against my expectations at all.

Anik entered the room expecting Ashleen to be sleeping but was well greeted by her. “You?” this is what she asked.

When Anik first touched her wrist he felt extremely cold under his fingertips. He reflexively pulled his hand back. But then he again reached out his hand to check her pulse, mentally prepared for the cold.

As expected her pulse was extremely weak, but somehow she was still conscious. If it wasn’t for an hour he spent evolving his poison and anatomy skill together, he would have reached her when she was still in a position to speak at least. When he was done evolving them, he received a message

You have now evolved your attribute to ‘Lost Successor of the Medicinal Valley of Ladakh’.

She was unable to speak now so he had to use one of the cards he saved for later when everybody understood how to use the system shop. But he needs to use that now. Mayday trust; as the name suggests' trust in danger. When there is no way one can talk to each other they can use this to have communication. In the original novel, Akansha came across it in the 8th scenario where she and her partner were supposed to fight a dragon; or we can say her partner was supposed to save her from the dragon. This scenario had 2 parts… that’s a long story.

When she started telling her the story of how the characters of the drama made it to survival, he felt that it might have been his story, finding herbs and stuff to keep her alive but fortunately, it suddenly occurred to him that he can evolve two skills into one. Now this poison was a snap work.

He moved his hand near her chest and after a few lefts and rights, he stopped where he thought should be her heart.

A green-colored aura started forming around his hand that slowly started flowing down toward her heart. A sudden sound of gasp, Ashleen opened her eyes suddenly and felt back a little more alive.

“Back to senses?” he asked, sweat beads rolling down his forehead from excessive use of mana.

I overestimated myself. I had no idea this much mana would be used just in this thing. It is even more exhausting than fighting orcs.

You seem to be going out of your senses.

A blue-colored aura started accumulating around her and it started passing to Anik. Her blue and his green intertwined and made a beautiful cyan. Her mana made him feel full of energy, and a sudden increase in mana from his body made her feel warm. She smiled at him; he smiled at her; while the demon in Ashleen, the kid Anik saved standing right outside her door smiled at them, both of the outsider smiles having entirely different meanings.

This went on for a few minutes until both of them received different messages at the same time.

Poison from your body has been removed; mana from ‘Lost Successor of the Medicinal Valley Of Ladakh’ has reduced your sleeping curse greatly.

You have saved your first patient; your fame will spread to faraway places all around the world.

“That was cool, Mr. Successor.”

“I know. Are you feeling better or do you want me to go find ‘nonexisting’ herbs?”

“It feels surreal that you did it so easily, I thought I was going to die…”

“Hush… don’t jinx my 80% power”

“Did you mix your anatomy and poison?”

“What happened to you?? Seems like ‘bone chilling’ left some after effects”

“What…”

“Your brain is working.”

“You wanna die?”

“You wanna lose your 80% power?” who cares about power anymore? I don’t wanna lose you.

“Consider yourself lucky.”

“I am well aware of this fact.” After all, I managed to save you.

‘BANG’

Their sweet time was interrupted and they simultaneously looked out at the window. Sun was supposed to be slowly rising but the scenery outside changed to a thunderstorm all of a sudden.
