Aftermath

"There were two strange 'future telling' books. Sebastian found one and Wind Master found the second one which he later gave to Anik."

"What's with these books? What was written in them? And more importantly, it was all a plan?"

"Yeah, Demon knew this Gayatri was fake so he used this chance to clear his name."

"So you are telling me, that the masters were with the demon."

"Yes."

"But why?" Everyone knows about this, this was not what it seems he wanted to happen... Ashleen thought.

"After Gayatri died, they received an anonymous letter telling the demon's reason for leaving the underworld. They felt bad but never did anything. This time when he finally appeared in front of them a week before you were sent to your respective 'places', they all made this plan to get all the main strongest people at a single place and showcase his real story."

"Not everyone was going to be satisfied with his past so they also made those people fearful." Added Anik.

"...I don't know how to feel about this."

"We neither." Said Vanshika. "All's well if it ends well so no worries now." She continued.

"Where is your partner though?"

"He's not like me, he's still in the room feeling guilty I guess."

"But I wrote in Anik's, Akansha's, and Demon's letter to cut him some slack."

"Akansha returned the letter without even opening it, Your Mr. Demon burnt it and Anik bro he is opening it right now."

"No wait, don't!" I looked at Anik, he was sleeping soundly on the chair.

"Vanshika... "

"What?" She said.

"Nothing." She sometimes really manages to get on my nerves. "By the way, didn't you talk to him either?"

"Sebastian?"

"Hmm."

"I didn't get the chance to. He has locked himself in since we came back with you."

"Why?"

"He thinks he is the one to blame, after all, he was the one to plan everything."

"But I told you, there should be someone who had all our actions planned."

"He isn't opening the door."

"..."

"Honestly he is not guilty for you or something, He is guilty because he betrayed your partner."

"Huh?"

"Sebastian was not acting and got into actual trouble in the Orc area and Anik bro saved him since then he respected him.

"But I heard him say 'one down' about Anik in Xie Yun's world." Ashleen's eyes lit up, "Leave that! You know who I met???-"

"Stop?! Don't get started about it. We are talking about something else."

"Oh yeah, but you know I met characters from DMBJ and saw many from LOF" And then Ashleen kept talking about this for a few hours.

"I am going to sleep"

"That's all you have to say? Aren't you surprised or envious Maybe"

"I was a little after you were done sharing memories."

"Huh?"

"So that wasn't unintentional?"

"What?"

Vanshika laughed a little before continuing, "You shared memories of whatever happened after you got into the dmbj world."

"Woah, I am not embarrassed yet because I don't fully remember what happened there but I am sure my night would be ruined if I recall something." Ashleen smiled and Vanshika walked towards the door.

"I am in the room in front of this one, Just call me if you need something, I have strong ears."

"Oh wait, that's his room..."

"He has been staying in your room for the last 15 days so I just took it temporarily. I'll return it, is. Don't worry, I am not interested in being a third wheel either." She said and walked out.

As soon as she walked out Anik raised his head.

"I thought you were sleeping..."

"Was I? Was I not?" He said getting up from the chair. He walked near the window and took out the letter.

"Oe! Don't read that."

"Why? Embarrassed?"

"..."

"I already read it, numerous times. Enough times to remember everything"

Ashleen's face turned red instantly. He continued, "Especially the last part. 'I don't think I would have ever said this if not for our situation turning out like this but I think you were my type after all'. Am I supposed to take it as a confession?"

"I am sleepy," Ashleen said getting under the covers.

Anik sneered and walked to the opposite side of the bed. He got on the bed and slid under the covers. Ashleen was ready to jump out when he held her with his arm.

"Don't worry, I am just sleepy as well."

"You sure?"

"Yeah." He said and moved closer.

Ashleen was on her side facing the window. Anik had his arm around her waist and was facing her back. She felt comfortable and protected. Ashleen held his arm and closed her eyes. She fell asleep instantly.

"You are not in the best health as well," Anik whispered as he began doing what he had been doing for the last 15 days. He began passing his mana to her, working like the jade platform. Steady, soft, and soothing mana was being passed constantly for the entire night. That was the reason she fell asleep instantly.

...

Ashleen got up late in the afternoon. She looked around and saw Anik still in her room, Vanshika was there as well.

"Guys Guys, let's talk about all that happened till now. I think we should make it clear before my brain refuses to work again."

"About what?... But before that, do something about Sebastian." Said Vanshika standing by the wall.

"He is needed for our discussion," Ashleen said looking at Anik. Anik is probably the one who dislikes him the most.

"Okay. Go get him then." Anik looked unbothered. For a second this made Ashleen think that it was all her delusion that he hated him.

"Who'll go?" Asked Vanshika.

"You of course." Anik and Ashleen said it together.

Vanshika walked to the side of her bed, "If he was listening to me, I would have done that long ago" She looked at Anik, "He's not coming out if I were the one to call him."

Click*

All three looked at the door simultaneously. The door creaked open and the familiar face of a young man appeared.

"You are out?" Exclaimed Ashleen.

"Huh?" He said as if he was asked something out of human understanding.

"...Weren't you sitting in the room, feeling depressed over everything you did?" Said Ashleen with her face tilted to the right, anticipating an appropriate answer.

"Why would I?" He said rubbing his eyes. "I was trying to figure out what happened till now."

All three looked at each other with surprise.

"By the way the conclusion I came to is that Gayatri ain't dead." All three looked at him in surprise. He continued, "I think we need to call the prince and if possible then masters as well." He said and sat on the chair.

Anik and Ashleen looked at each other.

Should we trust him? Ashleen looked at Anik.

We can carefully try if you want to. Anik didn't look back.

Hmm, we needed him now anyway. She said and looked away. Should I call over Demon Prince though?

I'll, you should not walk around yet.

But I can ask him through Mayday Trust.

Anik looked at her seriously, This time she didn't look at him, When did you add him?

Umm... I guess it was when we needed to co-operate to finish the last scenario thing quicker. I'll explain about that to you later, I'll call him now.

No don't, I mean we will look suspicious if he appears and says 'I am here since you called me.'

As if he'd say that, anyway then do something about it.

Leave it to me.

Sure, why not?

They closed the Mayday Trust.

"I have some conclusions as well. There were a few loopholes. I think if we can discuss our parts then it'll be easier." said Ashleen.

"That's why I am here," Sebastian said dropping his head back from the chair. He hadn't slept in a few days. It's not as if it's necessary but he had been used to sleep since he acted as Gayatri here.

"But before that, I need to make one thing clear," Ashleen had a serious expression. "I-"

"You don't trust me I know that" I can read everyone's mind is, except these two," he said pointing at Anik and Vanshika.

"The absolute reason you don't trust me is that in your 3rd person's perspective, you heard Gayatri say, 'one down' Let me tell you, that wasn't me."

Ashleen looked at him seriously, she was thinking about all the possibilities he might be right or wrong. Anik moved closer to her and placed his hand on her head. "He can't read your mind anymore for now," Anik said and softly stroked her hair. Ashleen's ears turned slightly red but she regained her focus quickly.

"Are you trying to say it was real Gayatri?"

"No, that skill of yours isn't noticeable unless someone is at the demon's or the master's level. Since whoever said that didn't notice you mean they were not strong enough. It can't be Gayatri at all."

"How do you know this all?"

He looked at her and spoke in a low voice, "I heard you think about it"

"Your skill is so cool man, it's bad you can't read her brain, you know she is bad at speaking clearly. That would have made you guys a power couple." Ashleen said half impressed.

Anik looked at her with astonishment.

What creature is your sister Vanshika? We all almost got killed because of this dude and she here...

Bro... Don't ask me.

"Oh yeah by the way I can say I was also kind of responsible for everything." Said Vanshika suddenly.

"Nahh she ain't." He yawned and continued, "I didn't tell her about the backlash part."

"Other than that I knew everything-"

"Oh guys, times, please. What is going on??"

"Confessions my dear." Said Sebastian in a mocking tone.

"Leave the confessions for later. Let's get to the point first."

"Alright, I'll tell you what I know first. You can choose to trust me or not later on."

"Fair enough," Said Anik as he sat down on the bed with his hand still on her head.

"But wait, before that, I have an important question," said Ashleen looking at Anik.

"What?"

"How are you stopping him from reading my mind?"

"Vanshika and I are a nemesis to his skill. We can do that, I'll explain how later on."

"Alright..."

Anik looked at her, smiled a bit, and gestured for Sebastian to continue.

"After the selection round, we both were sent to a palace. There were many others with the same level of skills as us but there were many more with way higher skills than us, there were elders who had been there for centuries. So we were not expected to take care of everything. Others were way more eager to do that so Vanshika decided to play laid-back for a while."

"While we were busy learning things from those elders Sebastian discovered a library there. We don't have social media anymore, neither do we have internet and other things so a library felt more than intriguing." Added Vanshika.

"There in that library, I found this book titled "TSD vol2 first revision". Vanshika used to read fiction so I thought of giving this to her but as I read the first page I realized it was not just any fiction." He looked at Ashleen.

"What was it?"

"It was a future prediction about you."

"About me?"

"Yes, about you." Said Vanshika, "The summary was that Prince is controlling you mentally and will kill you in the end."

"..." Ashleen had a lot to say

"I got one too," Said Anik. "Summary being, Sebastian and Vanshika are going to be the reason for your death."

"What is this messed up thing?"

"The one I had said 2nd revision, maybe the future changed?"

After a few seconds of silence, Sebastian continued.

"After reading this book we started gathering information about the prince. Amidst all this, I met someone. A kid, who told me about Gayatri."

"Where is that kid now?" Asked Anik.

"I don't know, he disappeared in front of me when I tried to follow him to see where he'd go. I thought he was suspicious but later on, I chose to believe in him."

"After he told me about all of this, I became paranoid. We asked our elders for help and told them about our plan too." Said Vanshika.

"The first part of it was that I'll disguise as Gayatri and enter this palace."

"Wasn't that absurd though? Prince is way stronger and he'll see through your plan right away."

"I thought about it before telling the elders but that kid appeared again."

"What did he say?"

"He told me not to worry about it at all. Prince won't do anything even if he found out."

"..." "You just didn't listen to him, did you? That's..."

"I know it sounds weird, I thought about it too. It's too questionable but it felt reasonable at that time. I still have no idea why. This is the loophole number one."

"Alright..."

"After that, we asked our elders to help us find appropriate people to help us and next you know."

"Our side story I believe you know already." Said Anik.

"Probably. But something is missing on your part."

"What?" Asked Ashleen.

"There are somethings either only the demon or you two are hiding."

There are, what to do? Should I tell him? Ashleen asked Anik.

What are those?

Prince was no longer with me when we left this palace, there are other things too that I don't know whether to tell you or not.

Tell the former part and don't think about the latter.

Alright

"Was the prince with you when you two left the palace?"

Bullseye Ashleen said before answering.

"He didn't accompany me, because if the masters happened to notice his presence with me that was not going to end well."

"Aren't all four of those working together?"

"Maybe it was to keep me in the dark?"

"Makes sense. But who cares let it be. It's not like everything was in our control in the first place." Said Sebastian yawning.

"Let's just be ready for the new challenges and take them head-on!!" Ashleen said enthusiastically and looked at others.

Sebastian shrugged a bit and nodded in agreement, Vanshika sighed and smiled while Anik nodded lightly still thinking about it. Demon prince listening to all of them from his room smiled and whispered "This was supposed to be a secret, now there are 3 more on the boat."

...

"It is not possible, I believe I have said this already a ton of times!" He didn't dare to not look at the intruder as he said so.

She smiled as she looked at the back of the guy sitting in front of the screen wearing big black metallic glasses. She moved closer and rotated his chair towards her.

"Are you sure you can refuse dear?"

"..." The guy was visibly tensed but the last sense of morality in him was stopping him from doing what she wanted him to.

"You didn't forget what happened that year, did you?"

"I already went overboard repaying for that, our contract is over. Don't bother with me anymore." He stood up and intending to get out of the room, he walked towards the door.

"Hmmm, this is not what I expected it to be~"

He froze there, losing his ability to move to fear, as he heard the footsteps approaching him from behind.

"I wonder what would happen to your system if I took back my support"

"... You are going to lose a lot of your power as a result of the breach of contract."

"And?"

"..."

"You didn't forget already, did you?" Seeing him silent she moved in front of him and continued, "Should I give a demo?" She said as she raised her hand slightly.

"NO! Stop don't!"

"I don't wish to see lives being destroyed because of someone's incapacity to use the system well either, it's you who's forcing me."

"...I have done what you asked me to, but this time it's too much"

"I have made clear the consequences of refusal! Just make the newcomer's area accessible to me already!"

"Why do you want that Gayatri? You have access to almost all of the parts of the system under my care."

Gayatri looked him in the eye "Give the access to me."
