3-37 The Quick visit of Evan

*Evan POV*

I hid in a bush near the Human Kingdom and started my reconnaissance. Just like last time, the patrols were high, and there were cavalries patrolling the plains outside the walls of the kingdom, The cavalries were far away from each other but I bet they can easily assemble in a formation if things go awry. There were a number of archers on top of the wall and probably some mages there too.

I knew it, letting Luna stay at home was the best idea, I don’t think I’ll be able to do much if they all go after me. I know I promised Luna that I’d bring her somewhere, but if things are to go down then my only option is to bring Luna somewhere else… The elven kingdom is probably a nice choice.

I took in a deep breath as I looked over the empty grass field surrounding the Kingdom where all the cavalry was patrolling around.

I’m kinda scared to go in there… That is what the past me would have said. But, that was because I didn’t have a reliable weapon with me. I got a decent sword for close range and a decent bow for long range. I’m also fast enough to run away from this situation if need be but that’s a last resort.

I waited and stalked them from the bush I was hiding in like a hungry lion waiting for its chance to pounce. Only, I was looking for a chance to get close to the gate. I’ll probably get surrounded by all the guards, but I can use the grapple to climb the wall and use my speed to run away or hide.

As soon as all the cavaliers were far away, I took in a deep breath.

Alright… Let’s do this.

I used my grapple and shield charge technique to bolt forward at an insane speed. One of the archers immediately noticed me and blew into a horn which alerted everyone of my presence, It doesn’t matter, just because they know I’m coming, doesn’t mean they can stop me.

They readied their bow and I saw some mages readying their magic staff, Some of the arrows were shot toward me, but thankfully, through the reflex skill, I was able to weave through the barrage, but honestly, the barrage of arrows isn’t even aimed at me, it’s more like they’re trying to stop me instead of trying to attack me.

The mages casted some kind of spell that surrounded the entire battlefield with a blueish icy-looking fog.

Chilled: Movement speed lowered by 30%

Oh you’ve gotta be kidding me.

I didn’t even consider they’d be able to cripple my movement. I’m seriously starting to understand why everyone says not to charge against a whole battalion as a single soldier. Thankfully the chilled status doesn’t affect the reeling-in ability of my grapple and the charge speed of my shield charge.

The cavalry was catching up but it didn’t matter much, I might be slowed but I’ve almost done what I wanted to do. Which is capturing one of the guards and asking about the situation, but the question now is how I’m going to escape from this situation.

While I was thinking this, something unimaginable happened. The guards near the gate who were holding their spears pointed at me, suddenly pointed the spears away and held their hands up as if surrendering.

One of those guards suddenly started screaming at me, “Evan of the silver Daemons Tribe! We mean you no harm! Please stop this recklessness!”

Oh my god, does that mean the warnings given by the guild master and Tifa actually worked? Wait, if it did work then why the hell is the security so tight!

The cavalry was still far away enough that they’d still need a minute to catch up to me, the archers and the mages had stopped attacking me so I have the perfect opportunity to talk to them.

“Why the hell is the security so tight! You guys got a beef with me!?” I screamed out the questions I wanted the answers to the foremost.

“The tightened security is a precaution made by the Adventurer’s guild to catch any stray Cultists members who may be hiding or trying to blend in in-between large groups to try and get inside the kingdom.”

Wait… so none of them were after me from the beginning?

“I think you’re misunderstanding after your last arrest, but after Adventurers’ Guild Master’s decree, You’re no longer a fugitive.

I couldn’t help but unconsciously do a facepalm. I thought I was in trouble from the very beginning for no reason.

“If there’s anything involving you then it would be that our Queen wishes to have an audience with you. But after the adventurer guild’s master request, she’s no longer forcing you and will wait patiently for your answer.”

Damn it. I already told her that I don’t do that Race unity whatever she was talking about… But… if that thing happens, then maybe… just maybe, people like Tifa will be able to live better…

The cavalry had caught up to me by now and were pointing their spears at me. I’m guessing it’s to make sure I don’t do anything bad but their hands were trembling, they really didn’t want to do this.

I made a long sigh, “Alright I get the situation now, thanks for the info, seems like there were a lot of misunderstandings happening with which is why this happened, anyway, I’ll be sure to give the Queen a visit.”

The guards protecting the gate did a slight bow and gave way for me to enter.

Well, at the very least I was able to enter with no problem.

Now then, I can help Daisy with whatever Race unity stuff she was talking about, which will in return help people like Tifa who became an outcast, but I don’t have the patience to do any of this since it’s going to be time-consuming and I have an innate ability to piss off anyone who talks to me.

I guess I can at the very least help that brat go in the right direction. If she talks with Elizabeth and gets something done, then it will benefit both, Elizabeth and Daisy, which would in return, give me a better reputation among them, and I’ll be able to utilize their assets somewhat, which will be a Godsend for me. I don’t really want to do this but I guess it’s necessary.

Before talking to Queen daisy the brat, I hurried to the adventurer guild because there were 2 people there who’d probably been waiting for me for a long time.

I saw the Adventurer’s guild with its double door closed as if there was no one inside, I remembered all the things I had to go through because of their choices so I couldn’t help myself but Kick the door open with all my strength.

“What’s up Fuckers! Your favorite Silver Daemon has arrived!” I screamed out which finally made me feel better for the stuff they made me go through. But… There’s another problem now.

The guild was empty. But, Liza was there behind the counter, and the one who was talking to her was Ruby, The guild’s master.

We both stared at each other. The door that took my beating broke from its hinges and fell down with a loud thud. Ruby and Liza stared at me with no emotions which made me feel even worse.

“…Sorry.”

Surprisingly, Ruby didn’t seem mad about it, “Ah, Evan. What a pleasant surprise, Don’t worry about the door, Lark will fix it, but please don’t do that again, you might hurt someone by accident.”

“Point taken,” I said as I turned around, picked up the door, and slammed it back on its hinges. The system did it’s job and the door was good as new.

I looked at Ruby and her eyes narrowed, “how did you… You know what? Never mind. What do you need Evan?”

I was so focused on Ruby that I didn’t notice Liza had her professional business face on. Usually, she’s smiling at me like meeting an old friend but she’s acting like she doesn’t even know me right now. Is it because of Ruby’s presence?

“Well uh… I forgot.” I didn’t to be in this situation so My head was blank, Pain-immunity senpai came into the clutch and got my back in the game. “Actually, I made a large house in the woods, could you do me a solid and tell the adventurers here that, if they see a Giant house in the middle of nowhere, don’t attack it.”

Liza nodded. “Of course, I will register your house in our database, but I’ll have to check up on it first.”

This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.

“I’ll say it right now so you don’t ask me later, but I’m not paying taxes.”

Liza nodded again, “If the house is outside the bounds of this Kingdom then you don’t need to pay taxes unless you want the Kingdom to provide basic facilities to you such as roads, patrolling guard-”

I think Liza wouldn’t stop listing stuff out so I quickly interrupted her “Nah, I’m good.”

She bowed slightly, “Very well and where will I be able to find your house?”

“Just a straight run from the west gate, You see it in half an hour or so, can’t miss it.”

Liza nodded and I turned around to leave the place before it became any more awkward.

“Wait, Evan.” Liza stopped me, “Miss Lucy and Oswald have been waiting for you for quite a while, should I tell them that you returned?”

Ohhhhh… I forgot about those two again.

“Nah, I’ll go talk to them myself.” I quickly headed straight upstairs before I embarrass myself more in front of Ruby. Can’t help the fact that Ruby is exactly my type and it’s making me act stupid, I hate it and I don’t like not acting like myself. It will take some getting used to, but that will take some time, Plus I have to leave this world no matter what happens so intimate relationships are a no-no.

Anyway, I headed to the second floor of this building which was the cafeteria area. I could hear the sizzling of oil and the aroma of chicken wafting in here, there were a number of tables and chairs but they were all empty except for one which was occupied by Lucy and Oswald… who were sleeping with their heads on the table. Lucy’s whole head was hidden under her oversized witch hat, While Oswald’s glasses were tilted outwards due to the weight of his face, and half of his face was wet with his drool.

How long have they been waiting for me here? I feel like a horrible human being… Wait no, I’m a silver daemon now, not human.

I walked up to them and said out loud, “Good morning you two!”

They both woke up with a big jolt, I could see Lucy’s face now and she had drool on her mouth, still better than Oswald’s situation who had to clean his whole face.

“Eh, uh, w-what happened?” Lucy said, still half-asleep.

“Rise and shine boys and girls, I’m here.”

“Shishou!” They both screamed out excitedly in unison.

Please don’t ask why I was late.

“What took you so long?” Oswald said without hesitation.

Damn it.

I shrugged my shoulders, “I’m a busy person. I had to talk with the Queen of all Elves so I couldn’t come back here early.”

“Wait.” Lucy said almost saddened by something, “So it wasn’t a test of patience? You were just late?”

“I, Uhh…” I wanted to explain myself but I felt they would be sad if I said the truth, and I saw an opportunity here so I was gonna take it. “Yep! You got me. It was a test of patience! And you guys have passed spectacularly! Now I’m confident in willingly making you two my disciples!”

“Yat-ta!” They both shouted as they jumped in the air.

“Alright calm down now, We will be training outside the Kingdom, back at my place. So, if you got any packing to do, Best do it now since I know you two got a shop here. And while you’re doing that, I have to talk with the Queen, so I’ll see you two here soon.” They both nodded and ran away downstairs all hyper. I guess it really did mean a lot to them.

Now… I’ll give some advice to Daisy and try to increase my standing with her, after that, I need to buy some stuff for home and get to the library and open up as many books as I can. I didn’t know about the system’s archive function before which means that as long as I open a book, all its content will be saved by the system, which I will have access to all the time, but… All this requires money. Which I have an okay amount of, but I’ll need more.

I walked downstairs and I saw Ruby and Liza still talking to each other. Ruby waved her hand at which was when I remembered something.

“Hey ruby, the blacksmith you guys have said that you buy health potions?”

Ruby was caught off guard but still nodded, “Yes, that’s true. Health potions are an extreme necessity since their recipes were lost in ancient times. There are some regions that still make them but it’s too expensive and the travel cost is astronomical. I know 50 silver coins a bottle is not much for its total cost but if you sell me those, Many soldiers and adventurers lives can be sav-”

I quickly interrupted her before she wastes any more of my time, Luna’s waiting for me back home and I’m quite afraid of what she’ll do if I’m late, “Yea, that’s a really cool story but I got 30 bottles I’m willing to sell, do you want it or not?”

“30!?” Ruby shouted out.

“I’m only staying here for the next half hour or so, decide and get the money ready as fast as you can since I’m in a hurry.”

She nodded and made a serious face before turning towards Liza and talking about the money amount stored at the guild. I wasn’t really interested in it and I was getting a bit impatient at the same time so I made a quick run towards the castle where Daisy was staying.

I looked at the tall castle and then remembered the absolute maze inside of it which made me think twice about meeting Daisy again. Luckily, I saw Lucy running around and asked her which one of the rooms in the castle was supposed to be Daisy’s.

She pointed at one on the top right of the castle which was, again, lucky for me. I thanked Lucy and made a quick run towards the castle. I reached the part where I could see the large castle gate and the bridge that was attached to. The castle was surrounded by a large pool of water but it didn’t matter to me,

The guards there were suspicious of me just running up to them so I did the only thing I could do in that situation which wouldn’t make me lose time by screaming out, “It’s me Evan! I mean no harm!” Before using my Grapple on the wall and launching myself up with Daisy’s room as my destination.

I heard a lot of commotion from the bridge but it didn’t matter I used the grapple to launch myself up and then run up the walls like I was Spider-man, If I started losing momentum then I would simply use shield charge again or the grapple again, Pretty soon I reached the room Lucy said was supposed to be Daisy’s room and grappled straight through it.

I broke through the window and landed inside.

“KYAAAAA!” I heard the scream of a familiar girl who was laying down on the bed. “W-What do you think y-you’re doing!”

I was about to explain myself but I suddenly heard someone say “YOUR MAJESTY!” From the outside so the next thing I did was block the door.

“Daisy! It’s me, Evan!”

A bunch of people were trying to force the door open But I got fed up with it and kicked the door away with as much force I could muster. The door was shot away but so were the guards who were trying to force themselves in, they needed a moment to recover but that was all the time I needed. While they were recovering, I equipped the dirt blocks in my hotbar and blocked the door with it.

“Flippen finally.”

“N-No! W-W-What do you think you’re doing!”

I looked over to her and she was hiding her body with her blanket, and then a moment later, A translucent magical bubble formed on top of her which covered her whole queen-sized bed.

“S-Stay A-Away!”

“Relax already your highness. I’m not after your body. I don’t go after little girls.

“Wha-!?”

She was going to say more but we both heard thuds and stuff hitting the dirt wall I made but the dirt wall showed no signs of moving. It was completely impenetrable, immovable, and dare I say, Unbreakable even.

“W-What do you want.”

“Calmed down a bit? Yea sorry about barging into your room like this, but I’m in a really big hurry. So if you could spare me two minutes of your time without making it into a mess, then that would be swell.”

She stared at me with hostility but made a sigh moments later. The bubble still didn’t go away which is smart for someone her age. “O-Okay, I’m calm. I’ll tell the guards there’s nothing to worry about. So can you tell me why you barged into a maiden’s room unannounced?”

You call yourself a maiden?

“Yea, I’ll be quick. Remember that part about you trying to make me the leader of that Race unity thing you talked about before?”

Daisy’s eyes opened wide as there was excitement in her voice, “D-Don’t tell me! You’re here to take the roll?”

“What? Of course not,” I shook my head and crossed my arms. “I’m just here to tell you that I can help you achieve friendly relations with other races, but I’ll only help you when I can, I still won’t become the leader of this group you’re making. But, in return I need information. Specifically, any and all historic knowledge and more information depending on what I found in those historic records. Do we have a deal? cause I don't have the time.”

Daisy made a serious face as she thought deeply. “You’re not after the kingdom’s treasure?”

“If that’s what I need to achieve my goal then I might want your treasure, But I’ll say this right now, I’m not after your crown nor do I want to hurt your people.”

She started thinking deeply while the guards were doing their absolute best to break down the dirt wall which refused to even budge. The walls beside the dirt wall I made were showing cracks but the dirt wall itself was in mint condition, I'm guessing this is because the dirt wall was made through the system, unless they have explosives or a pickaxe on hand, this dirt wall will not break.

{Author Note: Wtf OP dirt wall.}

“I-I need time to think about this and also talk with my advisors.”

“Gotcha, The Queen of all Elves is staying at my house right now. So, if you want to talk about race unity, best choose quickly.”

Daisy’s face lit up with surprise, “Wait, do you mean the actual Queen of Elves!?”

“Yep, I don’t got time so you better choose quickly. I'll be at the Adventurer's guild for the next half hour, if you haven't decided until then, then the deal is off.” I turned around and tried mining out half of the dirt wall that I placed and all the guards on the other side tried to poke me with their spears. Daisy had to stop them so I could mine out the rest of the dirt wall. When that was done, I just jumped out the same window from which I got inside.

Bout 20 mins have already passed away. It’ll take about 15 to 20 minutes to get back so I have about 20 minutes in which I have to get all the groceries I want and then go back to adventurer’s guild.

I quickly ran through any markets I saw, buying anything that seemed worthwhile for a house, and after about 15 minutes of a quick shopping spree and making my pockets lighter, I went back into the Adventurer’s guild. There was only Liza the red-haired two-horned Oni there behind the counter as usual.

I asked her if Lucy and Oswald came here, but she told me that they were still packing things up at their shop so it would probably take a little bit more time for them to come, aside from those two, there was no news about Daisy and Ruby so I was free now.

Which was exactly what I wanted.

“Hey Liza, I’m gonna spend the rest of my time here at the Library, so if anyone’s asking for me, tell them where I’m at.”

Liza smiled and bowed slightly, “Of course.”

I waved her goodbye as I walked outside the Adventurer’s guild. I only had one goal in my mind, which was why I was going to spend the rest of my time in the library. I only have a couple of minutes left before Lucy and Oswald come to me, and we leave for my house. So my mission now is to check any and all the books I can check. Since I now know that the system just makes a copy of any book I read even a little bit, I can get a large collection of these books, and hopefully find anything about heroes transported from different worlds.

Hopefully, Ruby and Daisy both come here later so I can fix my financial and reputational problems at the same time.

When I went inside the Library, The old hag that scammed me last time seemed surprised to see me. I don’t know if it’s because she thought I was petty or some other reason, but regardless, I gave her the usual fee of 10 silver coins and started reading all I could.

Only a couple of minutes passed and I read an interesting-looking title.

The four legendary heroes huh? Hmm… This might be a Jackpot.
