3-28. Demanding Truth.

Evan POV:

When I woke up, it felt as if I was a new person. No longer plagued by the constant warning of low stamina and fear of collapsing anywhere at any time. And while I wanted to say that the rising sun looked beautiful, but uh, there’s no windows in my room. There’re torches but the room has no natural light coming from the outside. Which I’m hoping it’s day time outside and not night time otherwise I just left my new family to fend for themselves while I slept for all of last night and the whole day.

I jumped off from my bed with no signs of tiredness or discomfort. I stretched a bit, but there’s no need to because of my Pain Immunity skill which is always working overtime.

Oh~ Pain Immunity~ Where would I be without you?... Okay enough fangirling, Stamina! Show me thy Sta-tus!

Stamina: 87% Left

Nice! That should be enough to not collapse for a few days at least. Now then, let’s check the spoils of war from last tim-

My thoughts were interrupted by a loud and red warning sign in my peripheral vision.

Warning!

Hunger: 8% Left - !

Thirst: 54% Left

Ah shit, I forgot about eating. Pain Immunity, I love you. But sometimes I hate how you operate.

While I did wonder why I wasn’t thirsty, but then I remembered all the health potions I drunk, so it’s probably because of that. Either way, I need to go back to the guild, get food, pick up my new family, come back here and then think of my next move on how I can escape this world.

After I made my decision, I quickly made my way downstairs from the living quarters to the 1st floor which could only be thought of as a workshop place for now. I’ll make changes to this floor later but the point is that there’s no rooms here for anyone to live. I went outside and saw the sun rising. I stared at the burning red ball in the sky with hesitation for a few minutes to make sure that the sun was rising and not setting otherwise I was in trouble.

Thankfully, two things were confirmed. One, the sun was definitely rising, and two, my retinas were definitely burning. When I looked away to recover my vision, I saw someone walking around. I kept blinking for a little while to get my vision back, and once I did, I realized the person pacing around was Jeff the Guide.

Might as well go and say hi.

“Yo, Jeff, What’re you up to.” I said as I raised my hand to greet him.

He turned around to look at me before giving his usual business-like smile. “Ah, Hello Evan, I hope you had a good night sleep, I was just looking around for things to do.”

Looks like even the NPCs’ can get bored too huh. I also have no idea if I should treat you as an A.I or an actual human being. You got basic human needs but then again, you still don’t want a bed and are satisfied with only a table and chair in your room. I wonder if the other NPCs’ will be like you.

“Well you have fun, I gotta go get some food and meet some people.” I passed by him and was ready to make a run for it to the Human Kingdom to get there fast but Jeff tried to stop me.

“Wait, Evan!” He blurted out loudly, I looked back at him and he sighed in relief. “I can’t stop you from meeting people, but if it’s food then maybe Emma could help you with that.”

 Emma? Emma…

Yea I have no clue who that is.

“From the looks of it, you seem to have no idea who Emma is.”

He hit the bulls-eye.

“Emma’s the new nurse that moved in some time ago.”

Nurse?

NURSE!?

I quickly opened my notification bar because I couldn’t believe it and what I saw blew my mind.

Walter the Merchant has Arrived!

Bazdin the Demolitionist has Arrived!

Darryl the Arms Dealer has Arrived!

Emma the Nurse has Arrived!

Tania the Dryad has Arrived!

Holy Smokes! The Gangs’ all here! Ha Ha! Awesome!

I couldn’t hide my excitement as I hurriedly opened up my map and saw the chibi heads of everyone in the prison-like houses I built for them, all except for Emma and Tania who were living in the living quarters of the mansion. Which makes sense since those two were the last ones to arrive and the NPC prison house was full after the other NPCs’ moved in.

I nodded at Jeff before I quickly turned around and headed back to the second floor of the mansion where I came from. There was another reason for my excitement. The guide just said that the nurse could cook me food, that means that the NPCs’ could possibly offer new services. The nurse could only heal you in the game but it seems like she can cook food here as well.

I saw the nurse when I reached the hallway on the second floor which was connected to all the rooms here. She was just walking around until she saw me and focused on me. She had blond hair tied to a ponytail with a white Nurse's outfit and hat that had a red plus sign on it. For some reason, red high heels too, with tinted green eyes. She was a bit smaller than me in height and did not look bad at all, however, there’s this weird feeling when I stare into her eyes. Can’t explain it but it feels like there’s something’s wrong with her.

She had one hand on top of the other as we both walked up to each other. “Hello Master Evan. How may I serve you?”

Hehe, she called me Master. I’m not gonna change that.

“Yea uhh, the guide said you could give me food?” She stared at me for moment before tilting her head in confusion.

“I don’t understand?” Her comment made me realize that the guide might have been playing with me and that I wanted to punch him in the face.

“Forget it, I guess you don’t sell anything except healthcare.” I said unenthusiastically as I turned around and headed towards the guy who thought he could play with me.

“I don’t sell many things right now, but I do sell things.”

As soon as the nurse said that, I looked back at her and a blue system screen popped open in front of me. It showed me all the things I could buy from her, but while the screen was big, there was only one item I could buy. Regardless, if it’s one item or ten, the fact I could buy stuff from her means that even the NPCs’ here can have secrets which may help me get back to my world.

Looks like the guide wasn’t lying after all.

I looked at the thing she was selling and…

Calorie Lactate Solution: Restores 40% Hunger and 50% Thirst, when all the contents are consumed.

How is drinking a Liquid going to help fill my hunge- wait… is that thing filled to the brim with… calories? Judging by its name, I might not be wrong but dear God do I hope to be. And for some reason I’m really scared of the ‘when all the contents are consumed’ part. None of the potions say that because it’s a given, but this… I’m gonna stop thinking about it.

It cost a single silver coin but I wasn’t worried about that. I was worried about what will actually happen if I drink whatever concoction that was.

I bought one and it appeared in my hand, a transparent glass bottle with a… shiny looking liquid inside it? Every part of my instincts was telling me not to drink what this thing was, I swirled it around and it was viscous like honey, I could also see transparent chunks inside it when I swirled it before the hid back down in the liquid.

“Welp, never say never.” Those were probably going to be my last words as I closed my eyes, popped open the cork and transferred the contents into my mouth. Surprisingly, there was no taste. The texture felt like some goo going down my throat and sometimes I felt some kind of chunks going down my throat, almost as if the chunks were some kind of fruit pulps, yet they had no taste, only texture.

All in all, I can definitely say I’m scarred, Pain immunity is doing a wonderful job of making me not puke on the spot, it may have even removed any of the bad taste from this thing which was why I couldn’t taste anything at all. I don’t know, I’m not gonna risk it by turning off Pain-Immunity either. Aside from that, no other comments.

… I bought 10 more just in case of emergencies.

Alright! It looks like things are finally going with the plan! Now, all I gotta do is get everyone back here, fix the King through the nurse and Walla. I'll think about the rest later and- HOLY MAMA!

My thoughts were cut short because of a certain someone coming out of one room. The Dryad. She’s about my height, got nice curves that would make any man turn around to look at her, got a bit of a tan with long green braided hair were decorated with various different coloured flowers. She had the face of a seductress who could capture any man’s heart with a wink. My problem wasn't with how sexy she looked but rather she’s practically naked! Her private parts were hidden behind green vines and that's it, some more vines were wrapped around her legs and arms, but it’s too little to cover anything else. That's all her clothing.

My mouth remained open but she walked towards me sexily as If I was the next meal she wanted to eat.

“Hello, Master Evan. It's so nice to finally meet you.”

This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.

Oh No! She’s so sexy I can’t think!

No! Evan! Get your mind back together! Don’t let her intimidate you!

She started chuckling all of a sudden as she raised her delicate hand to my chin. “You can close your mouth now, Master~”

oH No sHe’s HOT!

I don’t like how things are going!

My mind was almost completely entranced by her until suddenly… it wasn’t anymore? She was still sexy but I feel like my brain is in control now. What the hell just happened?

I looked at my notifications tab for any hints and I realized what happened.

Tania the Dryad has casted Allure on the User.

Allure was resisted by the system as friendly fire.

User did not like the emotion of Allure casted upon them.

Pain Immunity has now identified ‘Allure’ as a harmful emotion to the user and will actively protect the user from both Allure and any and all similar emotions to it.

There’s a lot of things I can take away from the situation that just happened, but the most important one is that the NPCs’ can attack me here, unlike in the game where they will always remain passive to you even if you find a way to attack them… I guess I should be nice to them from here on out.

The other things that I noticed are that Pain immunity can evolve and I’m protected from friendlies by some kind of friendly fire wall… Yea, it’s too much. I’ll think about all of these things after I save the Silver daemons family that’s staying at the Kingdom.

I brought back my composure as I stood tall and held the Dryad’s hand which was still holding onto my chin. I don’t know what benefits she’ll get from trying to entice me… or if she even did that on purpose. There may be some new story for the dryad here then there was in the game but as long as she’s not my enemy, she can help me.

“Well it was nice meeting you Tania, but sadly I have important business to attend to. So, for now, Toodles!” The Dryad looked shocked for a second which told me enough that whatever she did was on purpose, what purpose? That I will figure out after I come back. For now, I turned around and bolted towards the exit of the mansion.

Oh wait! I almost forgot! The goodie bags!

When you kill a boss with difficulty of expert or higher then the bosses will drop treasure bags which have items related to them. In this case, I killed 2 Eye of Cthulhu’s which means some amazing items are just waiting in my inventory and forgot to even look at them.

I quickly opened them up while they were in my inventory by thinking about it and the spoils were…

1 Shield of Cthulhu

1 Quick Shield of Cthulhu

41 Crimtane ore

3 Crimson seeds

47 Demonite ore

2 Corruption seeds

41 Unholy Arrows

2 0x33's Aviators

6 Gold coin

Huh, You’re only supposed to get either the Crimtane ore or Demonite ore depending on what kind of evil biome you choose but if there’s both that might mean that both evils exists in this world. It’s more for me and I won’t have to make the other evil’s farm to get their items so it’s a win-win situation for me.

After looking at the spoils I equipped one of the most important early-game accessory. The Shield of Cthulhu. I equipped the quick one.

Quick Shield of Cthulhu:

Damage: 30

Defence: 2

Knockback: Very Strong

Tooltip: Allows the player to charge in any direction.

Quick: 4% increase in Movement Speed.

The main reason this is the best accessory in the early to mid or even end game is because it gives the ability to charge in one direction, which would be used to avoid most kind of dangers. I don’t how much it’ll help me here But it’s still really useful, I might even be able to use it like a shield here, since game logic doesn’t entirely work here and the shields of Terraria don’t actually do much of anything besides status or abilities.

Other then that, the 0x33's Aviators are actual aviators, or cool sunglasses for the less fashionable person. Though getting these worries me more, since you can only get these with a hardcore character. That means only one life. Once dead, the game is over.

I shook my head away from these terrible thoughts as I focused on my goal for the time being. Get the whole family back here at my place. Undetected.

I started running towards the Kingdom with the grappling to make me go faster, but this time I was using the shield’s charge ability too, it was because I wanted to get used to it, and if I used it correctly then my overall speed would increase.

*Few minutes later*

I'm hiding in the bushes a bit far away from the Kingdom. The sun is still up so I can get detected easily. I need to make a plan. I already made a large ruckus before, so I bet they’re still looking for me. If I just show up willy-nilly, I’m going to get arrested, or worse, get my new family arrested. Can’t use grapple either otherwise I’m going to get spotted immediately.

Okay, Evan. You gotta infiltrate this place. Think. what would Solid Snake do?

I gotta move like the big boss. Think like the Big boss. Act like the Big boss!

Hrrngh, I just need a box.

“Umm, Evan? Is that you?” I looked to my right where I heard someone call me and it was Tifa riding on a horse.

I looked at her.

She stared back at me.

I kept quiet.

She followed suit.

{Author Note: Snake? Snake!? SNAAAAAAKE!?!}

“Uhh, hi, how are ya?” As awkward as it was, I tried to break the silence.

“Umm. What are you doing?”

“Me? Oh Uh, Nothing! Absolutely nothing suspicious is going on with me- Okay screw this, I’ll be straight, the queen of that Kingdom wants me to lead a unity something armada that unifies all the other races so racism doesn’t exist and that is absolutely outside my field of expertise so I did a little trolling and now the whole kingdom is after me, but I left my family in there so I’m thinking about how I can get them out of there while not getting arrested.”

She looked at me surprised and bewildered, “Wow, that’s umm, that’s a lot happening with you right now… do you need help?”

I looked at her like an abandoned dog left under the rain with no shelter, “Please.” was the only word that left my mouth, and with no emotions either but even a fake empath could tell that I was desperate.

Tifa suddenly started smiling as her pointy long ears started twitching. “Alright, then get on. I know how to get you inside without anyone knowing."

Big boss. As much as I wanted to act like you, sometimes I think I should remain quiet and accept others’ help without hesitation.

I got on the horse, right behind her and she quickly took something black out of the bag that was hanging beside the horse. She started to wear whatever kind of black cloth she took until I realized what she wore was a black cape with a hoodie.

“We wear these to keep our ears hidden when we visit other kingdoms. This way, we can blend in easily and do our work secretly, I got a spare with me so you should wear that.”

A disguise. I like it.

She handed me another cape that she took out from the same bag and I put it in my social accessory slot to immediately wear it and hide my hair. Tifa was looking forward and guiding the horse so she didn’t see the cape that she handed to me, vanish and appear on me.

“While you can use that to hide your hair, I can’t do anything about your eyes, If they’re looking for a silver daemon then your hair and eyes are a dead give-away, so make sure to look away from everyone otherwise I can’t help you.”

So, my eyes are my weakness huh? …Wait.

“If it’s my eyes then you don’t have to worry about it. I got it covered.”

I had goggles equipped in the head social slot, but I had just gotten the aviators from the goodie bags, so switched the transparent goggles to the stylish black aviators which only had a one-way view. Meaning I can see through the sunglasses but others can’t. So the issue of my eyes was also gone.

Tifa looked back to check on me and she was shocked.

“How do I look?” I said with a sinister smile, I tried to act smug and sexy, but we’re galloping on a horse, and let me tell you, it’s not a comfortable feeling.

Tifa however blushed and looked forward as she snapped the horse reins to make it go faster. “I-I think you look g-good… Wait! No! I-I m-meant that you have a g-good d-disguise!”

“Aww, don’t be shy, PRAISE ME MORE! HAHAHAHAH!”

And thus, we quickly made our way to the kingdom.

When we almost reached the gate to the kingdom, A question came to mind that I should’ve asked Tifa before.

“Hey, I forgot to ask, but what are you doing here? I thought you guys were busy in rebuilding your Kingdom?” My fight with the Eye of Cthulhu did ruin their country.

Tifa stayed quiet for a moment, I couldn’t see her face but it felt like I touched a sensitive topic. “Well…” She stopped talking as if to think what to say, “I did help but those guys don't take too kindly to me so I left and came to find you.”

What!?

I don’t know why but I got angry immediately. “Damn! Those bastards are horrible! They’re like that even when you’re helping them! Even bullying has its limits!”

I really did get annoyed by those guys’ behavior, but to my surprise, Tifa started chuckling quietly.

“Well, I’m used to their pranks by now. And I'm actually quite glad they did that.”

Glad?

Oh no, I don’t like where this is going.

Tifa was going to say more but we had reached the gate and two guards were coming to us. “Who are you and where did you come from? State your purpose for coming.” They said with an authoritative voice, it seems like the usual thing they do when a stranger comes here.

Tifa pulled out a card and showed it to the guards. The guards looked at it, looked at each other before nodding and letting us pass.

Tifa made the horse trot inside as she looked back at me.

“I’m actually glad they did that otherwise I wouldn’t get to help out my friend.” She said with a wide smile.

Oh Whew! It’s not what I was thinking, okay at least she hasn’t fallen that far. And I guess she feels glad because in a place where everyone bullies you. Finding a friend would feel like salvation.

I gave a heart-warming smile before I yelled out, “To the Adventurer’s Guild!”

Tifa nodded happily as she made the horse trot a little faster.

After a little while. We reached the guild, I wanted to go in with Tifa but she had to go tie the horse somewhere so I started looking around the guild for any guards that might be hanging around.

Okay, the path looks clear.

I finally get to act like the Big Boss!

I slowly and quietly opened the door just enough to get me inside, I quickly went in and carefully closed the door behind me.

Okay, Time to begin Infiltration.

I looked forward and I saw an emotionless Liza behind the counter, staring at me.

Mission Failed! We'll get 'em next Time.

“Ugh, How did you know.” I asked while being down casted.

“I have sensitive hearing and I kept hearing ‘I'm very sneaky hehehehe.’ outside the main door.”

I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut.

While I still felt a bit grumpy, Liza’s emotionless face turned into a smile. “Congratulations Evan. For all your deeds that none of us could do which also saved the lives of thousands of people. But I must warn you the Queen is looking for you. What exactly did you do for the Queen to try arresting you with all your deeds?”

She stared at me seriously as if trying to determine I’m still a friend or foe.

“First of all, thank you. Second of all, the queen wants me to do something I don't wanna do. The arrest is just a cover story so that she can talk to me even though I told her no.”

She stared at me for a couple of seconds before smiling and nodding. “Alright I know you're telling the truth.”

“Well I'd love to stay here and chat but I got something really important to do. So, do you know where my King is?”

She nodded, “They should be in the building right next to us where we held Luna before. I doubt they have woken up yet. Do you mind paying Miss Lucy a visit? She has been waiting for you all night.”

Oh shit, I forgot about those guys again.

“Sure, I’ll meet them, But first there’s something Important I need to do and that involves my King.” I wanted to say more but the door behind me made some noise and opened slowly.

OH SHIT! I’M SCREWED! PLEASE DON’T BE GUARDS! PLEASE DON’T BE GUARDS!!!

“Reid?”

I had practically closed my eyes as I left myself to fate, but the voice seemed similar.

I opened my eyes and looked at who opened the door. Fortunately, it was the family I was looking for! I was so glad that it wasn’t some random patrolling guard but my family. They all looked alright aside from old Helputt who was holding onto Nezha’s shoulder to stand.

Don’t worry buddy, I’m gonna fix you up in no time!

Whew! For a second there, I thought I was actually a goner.

Now that I look at them, there’s actually a strange atmosphere going on, Luna and Mia looked worried and refused to look in my direction, Nezha looked the most worried while Helputt looked at me like a warrior who had accepted his fate.

What’s going on?

“Reid, we need to talk…” Helputt’s voice was weak yet powerful, there was also a hint of fear in it almost as if he doesn’t want to talk about it “… Have you really lost your memories?”

At first, his words didn't register with me until they repeated to me like an echo inside a cave. When I finally got my brain cells to work again and actually realized what he meant, my face went stiff, my asshole, puckered up and only one thought left in my brain.

I'm a flippen goner.
