Luz sighed happily as she leaned against her locker. It was weird how, now that she was with Amity, it seemed so silly to have been afraid for so long. Just having that pressure off of her was amazing though. She still needed to tell Gus and Willow about it. Oh, would Willow be up for some double dates now? Luz giggled for a second at the fact that her and Amity kind of needed to go on single dates first before letting out another content sigh.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re broken too.”
Luz blinked a few times before her eyes widened. That’s right! Boscha! Boscha needed to know. Wait. “What do you mean by ‘broken too’?”
Boscha rolled her eyes before pulling a blue hand mirror out of her pocket to start checking her makeup. “Amity has spent all morning just staring into the distance, giggling, and sighing. Emira and Edric just chuckled at me when I asked what was going on like I should know. She’s lost it so badly that I would assume that she got her memories burned up or something.”
Luz laughed nervously for a moment before wondering why she was. Then again, when she thought about how she might actually tell her friends, her blood froze. She’d spent so long denying that anything was there that it was scary considering taking all of that back. But she hadn’t done it that much with Boscha and it’s not like the angry girl could do worse to her than she normally did. “Well, um, her brain might be a little scrambled. After all I let her, well, um, no, she gave me a good chance to... “ She looked up as Boscha just stared at her with a slightly annoyed look. That was a good sign? “I let Amity know that I like her last night. But, um, like, like like. Or…”
Boscha blinked a few times before closing the mirror hard enough to make it disappear into blue smoke. The two were a little too focused on the mess that was Luz trying to do this. “You mean you told her you love her?”
Luz let out a sigh of relief at not having had to say it first. “Yes! Finally! And it-”
“Do you need a hug?”
The energetic girl gasped excitedly before looking at Boscha with sparkling eyes. “Really? You’re actually offering a hug to go with it?”
Boscha raised an eyebrow in confusion before putting her hands on her hips. “I mean, yeah. I know you like them and having your heart stomped on must have sucked.”
Luz tilted her head slightly as she processed what she meant before asking, “Wait, you think she said no?”
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“Why wouldn’t I? Like I keep telling others, she might like stupid but she doesn’t like stupid that much.”
Luz’s shoulders slumped a little as she glared at Boscha. She was too happy at simply the thought of Amity and her though to stay angry. “Well, sorry, but she does like stupid that much.” She then grinned as wide as she could as she said, “So she said yes.” She then shouted, “She said yes!”
Boscha’s eyes widened as Luz did a twirl before throwing herself off balance and giggling as she fell onto the ground. It was just like Amity had been acting at home… The rough girl’s lips slowly formed into a smile as she let out what sounded almost like a sigh of relief. “Well, good. She could have a lot worse than you.”
Luz blinked a few times before looking up. “Wait, what did you just say?”
That made the bully groan as she shook her head. “I said I’m happy for you two, dumbass.”
Luz scrambled to her feet before saying, “I just, well, I mean, with how protective you are over Amity, I thought you’d be upset. I mean, you and I don’t exactly get along.”
With a single eyebrow raised, Boscha merely asked, “Who do I get along with?”
The human opened her mouth for a second, looked away, and then merely shrugged. She then sighed happily. “Thank you. It… It actually means a lot to me that you’d be okay with us.”
Boscha blinked a few times before tilting her head. “Why? It’s not like my opinion is going to change how you or Amity feel.”
“Yeah, but,” Luz said as she met the rough girl’s eyes, “you’re her best friend. I wouldn’t want you to have to just walk away because of me, even, um,” she paused for a second to blush before saying, “with what I did in the past. I was just jealous that you were so close to her when I couldn’t be.”
Boscha didn’t even blink as she kind of just stared at Luz. The human got to watch as Amity then walked up behind her friend. The two met eyes, sighed, and then Amity, who had used the walk to Hexide to chill out, looked at her friend and turned white as a sheet. Luz didn’t miss a beat though as she tackled Amity. “Boscha said good for us!”
Amity squealed at being in her girlfriend’s arms, and missed at the hundred phones that got pulled out as the student body figured out what Luz’s yelling earlier meant, before looking at Boscha. “Wait, what?”
Boscha looked to the sky before yelling, “Why is everyone acting so surprised about this?”
The two then just stared at the rough girl. Boscha stared back before sighing. “Fine. I get it. I promise I am though. Like I told Luz, you could do a lot worse.”
Amity glanced at Luz, smiled like an idiot as they locked eyes, and then nuzzled into her girlfriend’s shoulder as she whispered, “I don’t think I could do much better.”
Boscha smiled as she looked at the two of them. She did genuinely mean it, even if no one believed her right now. After all, for as much of an idiot Luz was, she was also genuine, selfless, caring to a fault, fun, and didn’t seem to actually judge others. And, most importantly, she seemed like she meant what she said, especially about this
Still, she did have to make sure people didn’t think she was all smiles. She summoned her phone before lining it up on the two of them as they talked barely a breath apart from one another. So close to kissing. So close to showing everyone how true their words were, at least in childrens’ eyes.
And Boscha caught the moment their lips met without any of the shock of anyone else in the room. Why would she hold back now after all? Her best friend wasn’t like that. She was brave, strong, ruthless with one hand and loving with the other and she never had a reason to raise the first hand to Luz. Not when she obviously meant what she said now too.
The rough girl felt a tear roll down her cheek as she popped open Penstagram and posted, Don’t worry everyone. If Luz breaks Amity’s heart without a good reason, I’ll break every bone in her body., before walking away to get to class so she didn’t interrupt the two right now.
