Cluz stopped for a second in the hallway before licking one of her thumbs and pushing her arm out as she paused to calculate a couple things. The last four clones should be getting between Amity and Luz right about now which would slow the original a little but the human was going to be way too determined at this point to take very long in dealing with them. She wouldn’t have after, she thought as her eyes darted back to Amity. “Alright, I think we should be good to stop here.”
Amity pulled her hand out of Cluz’s with a touch of blush across her cheeks. Of course, they’d only been holding hands to make sure they didn’t separate but it was still Luz’s hand. Kind of. Why did this one somehow feel more like Luz than the ones that were her own age? Amity pinched the bridge of her nose before righting herself and asking, “Why here? We’re still in the open after all.”
Cluz smirked for a second before saying, “Oh, we want to be found. We just want to be found at the right time. Besides, I can just bonk any clone that gets on your nerves.”
Amity raised an eyebrow at her before asking, “Oh, and if you get on my nerves?”
The clone let out a short bark of laughter before looking at Amity more seriously. “I can see why the others did try to accuse you of not wanting Luz to change.”
Amity’s face turned white as snow but she didn’t get a chance to speak before Cluz placed a hand over the serious girl’s face and her other hand on the witch’s cheek. She then whispered, “Stop thinking. Stop thinking and focus on my voice and I’ll prove to you why they’re wrong. Why they’re just desperate because they know they aren’t Luz and how they wish they were when it came to you.”
Amity swallowed hard as she felt Cluz’s breath beating against her. She was so close. In fact, how close was she? Her lips couldn’t have been more than an inch or two away. Oh Titan, was she going to kiss her? She’d never kissed anyone before. Wait, no, she wanted to save that for Luz. But this was Luz and… And Amity paused to take a long, slow breath while her mini abomination briefly rubbed the blossom in her ear before she said, “Okay.”
The voice that came next was about ninety-nine percent right for Luz. An almost spot on impression, something that was only necessary for Cluz because she was so different from the other clones. She couldn’t be getting into Amity’s head as someone else though. Not as she whispered, “Amity, I-I, well, um, You know how I’ve always been weird? A little off? Or just wrong? I think I might have figured out part of it but,” Cluz’s voice cracked for a second and the clone had to take a moment to compose herself before whispering, “I can’t go on living a lie. Especially to you. I’m asexual. I’m not really attracted to anyone. I hope you can understa-”
Cluz didn’t even finish before Amity crashed into her with a hug tight enough to try and squeeze the air out of her. The clone had expected to be effective but to get Blight to shake and shiver… Well, thanks mom for including acting skills in her toolkit. Then again, she supposed it only made sense as she patted Amity’s back. “See, you’re a Luzbian through and through. It just needs to actually be her or your heart knows not to love them.”
Amity’s eyes snapped open before pushing Cluz away and squealing out, “I-I’m just trying to be a good friend! That’s it! Th-That’s what Luz and I are after all. Very, very good…” Amity stopped as her abomination kept rubbing the blossom in her ear to try and calm her but all it was doing was making her think of how weird this clone was. “Wait, is Luz actually-”
“Nope.” Cluz smiled at Amity but there was a definite sadness to her eyes as she whispered, “But I think we both know all too well that you wouldn’t want to force a confession out of her even if she was, would you? Or should I double check that you’re okay with doing one yourself? Because I might have something for you if you are!”

Amity let out another shriek as Cluz brought up three fingers and slowly began counting down. Amity meanwhile just continued to blather about not having any secrets until Cluz got to zero. That was when both of them turned to the sound of sneakers sliding on tile and saw Luz crouched low to the ground as she tried to stop herself. The young girl then locked eyes with her clone and yelled, “Cluz, get away from her!”
Cluz casually gave her original a wave with her staff hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll start helping in… Give me like ten seconds. After all,” she said as she slammed her free hand into the section of wall next to Amity’s head, “shouldn’t take me too much longer to get my kiss.”
Amity’s pupils disappeared as her eyes widened to cover more than half her face and she couldn’t stop going, “K-k-k-k-” while she obviously tried to process what the so far supportive clone had just said.
Luz wasn’t having any of it as she began sprinting at Cluz. “Don’t you dare! That’s not yours to take!”
The clone raised an eyebrow before shrugging. “Alright. Then I’ll just take,” she flicked her wrist to slam the staff momentarily into Luz’s stomach to cause the girl’s lungs to empty in a second, “your breath away,” she then stepped back as her free hand grabbed Amity’s cheek and pulled her by it and Cluz’s staff hand did the same to Luz, albeit it a touch more awkwardly, “so she can give you some back.”
And, in one clean movement, Cluz brought the two gently together. Neither were thinking and neither could process what was happening until the very moment. The moment when both of their brains exploded.
The moment Cluz got the kiss she wanted to see out of Amity.
Amity blinked for a moment. Something soft was pressed against her lips. Wait, Luz was pressed against her lips. Oh no. What if she felt the cut she’d given herself two days ago when she bit her lip open while watching the idiot? Wait, why would she feel that if they weren’t- They were kissing! This was a kiss! Her first kiss! And with Luz! Who had rough lips that needed chapstick and that was adorable! And they were still so nice and warm and how they pressed tighter against her as Luz wrapped her arms around her…
Wait, Luz was hugging her?
Luz had blinked for a moment when the two had first come together too. She’d spent the last hour fantasizing about doing this because of Cluz and her brain had its own process of coming to grips with it. Like how smooth Amity’s lips were except this one small ridge that the human couldn’t help but briefly let her tongue flick at for half a second. Like how Amity seemed so tense but was slowly relaxing. Like how the other girl’s face beat down on Luz with the heat of a thousand suns. It all felt so right. Like this was where she belonged. And she could just enjoy it until the voices in her head stopped her.
But then she wrapped Amity into her arms with a tight hug and took the smallest pause to actually get some air before turning her head to the side to kiss the love of her life better. To moan gently at the joy she felt in this moment. At the future she could see between the two of them and- Where were they!?
Luz almost threw Amity off of her as the human gasped for air. It wasn’t just because of getting the wind knocked out of her a second ago though. No, her chest felt like a slammed shut bear trap on her lungs as her head swam. Amity hadn’t pushed her away. She hadn’t shown any sort of sign that she didn’t like it after all. If Amity actually liked her, well, she wouldn’t be high class or a witch but that didn’t matter so long as her girlfriend loved her ri- What was going on!?
Luz blinked a few more times, looked at Amity, and then ran. She couldn’t handle the drunk smile on Amity’s face. How cute she looked swaying on her feet. How her half closed eyes begged for Luz to come back in and to keep kissing her until the two passed out. None of that… None of that was supposed to be okay after all. She was only supposed to think about those things for like, less than a second. That way she wouldn’t hurt Amity with her weirdness. The weirdness that Amity loved? “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
Amity blinked a few times as the yell snapped her out of her stupor. Her lips quivered and she slowly brought a hand to them as she had to start fighting back tears. One of those tears were swiped away though before a gentle voice whispered, “You didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, though I know you won’t believe me, she’s running for the exact same reason you normally would be. So just enjoy it, just like she did.”
Amity turned to look at the voice and only saw the older Luz clone’s foot as they turned the corner. She took a step to take chase but her legs were too weak. Her eyes too wet. Her heart too full. She glanced to the side and smiled the second her familiar obeyed her and rubbed the blossom. Maybe… Maybe she didn’t need to get sad just because her idiot ran off. After all, that was her first kiss and, even if it didn’t last as long as she’d wanted, it was just as incredible as she’d always known a kiss with Luz would be.
Something that Luz was coming to grips with being unable to not think about no matter how far away from Amity she got.
