[Friday XX, XX, 4:13 p.m.] Hey. So, we going to go see the new Jim Wack movie tonight? Dad already got us tickets.
[Friday XX, XX, 5:27 p.m.] The tickets are for seven so you coming?
[Friday XX, XX, 5:41 p.m.] I hope the abominations are coming well but don’t ignore your phone, idiot.
[Friday XX, XX, 5:50 p.m.] Look, I got it yesterday, but it was just a stupid game. It’s not like I hurt you so say something already.
[Friday XX, XX, 6:04 p.m.] We’re going to have to ditch you pretty soon. I will let everyone else know how you were crushing too hard on your monsters to come out for a movie.
[Friday XX, XX, 6:19 p.m.] Last chance. Pick up or else.
Missed call, 6:20 Friday XX, XX
[Friday XX, XX, 6:42 p.m.] Alright, I’m at the theater. You better be here.
[Friday XX, XX, 6:46 p.m.] There’s less of a crowd than you’d expect. You’d like it here. And no, I’m not providing pictures. You have to come and see for yourself.
[Friday XX, XX, 6:51 p.m.] Previews are as dumb as always. Some bullshit kids thing called Azura has its third movie coming out soon. I almost threw up with how sugary it was.
[Friday XX, XX, 6:59 p.m.] Movie is starting. Tell you about it afterwards.
[Friday XX, XX, 7:22 p.m.] Got bored so back to texting. Who knew fire blasts to the head could ever get routine?
[Friday XX, XX, 7:34 p.m.] Ugh. They brought in some stupid human to protect? They’re almost as dumb as you seem to be getting. By the way, I talked to Coach. If you want back on the team, you’re allowed after yesterday.
[Friday XX, XX, 7:37 p.m.] You seem like you enjoyed the game yesterday. I’m happy about that.
[Friday XX, XX, 7:49 p.m.] If you don’t want back in then we can just talk about plans. Those losers couldn’t have possibly come up with half of their plans with you so I’d like to see what you think.
[Friday XX, XX, 8:06 p.m.] Fine. Just trying to be nice. You don’t have to be such a cunt.
[Friday XX, XX, 8:07 p.m.] Sorry. That was extreme. Even for me.
[Friday XX, XX, 8:08 p.m.] <3
[Friday XX, XX, 8:10 p.m.] Come on, can’t you take a joke?
[Friday XX, XX, 8:13 p.m.] Dad is telling me I should focus on the movie. Talk later.
[Friday XX, XX, 9:45 p.m.] Movie got out. It was fucking awful. Glad you didn’t have to suffer.
[Friday XX, XX, 9:47 p.m.] Wish we could talk about it. Stupid movie was stupid, right?
[Friday XX, XX, 9:56 p.m.] Action was okay.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:02 p.m.] Keenu was as cold blooded as always which was good.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:08 p.m.] The human survived, if you were curious. I know it’s the worst outcome but I thought you might get a chuckle.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:10 p.m.] Just a joke. I know humans aren’t that bad. Happy?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:14 p.m.] I’m going to need to go to bed once I get home but I can stay up to chat if you’d like. How does that sound?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:17 p.m.] Answer you fucking bitch!
[Friday XX, XX, 10:21 p.m.] Sorry. Home now. Taking sips of something to help me sleep.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:25 p.m.] I never checked yesterday, but I hope I didn’t hurt you when I tackled you yesterday.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:27 p.m.] You know I’d never hurt you.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:29 p.m.] Please respond.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:30 p.m.] Please.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:31 p.m.] Please?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:40 p.m.] Sorry. Phone glitched and I wasn’t seeing that it had already sent the last few messages.
[Friday XX, XX, 10: 44 p.m.] I’m having trouble sleeping and have potions homework to do so want me to make something for tomorrow while I’m in the kitchen?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:49 p.m.] I lied.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:49 p.m.] I don’t have potions homework.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:49 p.m.] Just wanted something sweet.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:50 p.m.] Like you.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:50 p.m.] JK
[Friday XX, XX, 10:50 p.m.] Fooled you, didn’t I?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:51 p.m.] Or did I?
[Friday XX, XX, 10:53 p.m.] You’re not being sweet.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:55 p.m.] Please come back. I’m sorry.
[Friday XX, XX, 10:56 p.m.] Will you at least tell me if you’re looking at these?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:00 p.m.] Please don’t.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:02 p.m.] I’m just being dumb.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:05 p.m.] Getting tired. Back in bed now. See you in the morning?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:10 p.m.] Please? I swear I’m trying to space these out to give you a chance but I need an answer.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:12 p.m.] What the fuck is wrong with you? Don’t you know who you’re ignoring!?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:13 p.m.] Of course you do.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:15 p.m.] Is that why you won’t respond?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:16 p.m.] Would you be happy with me if I lost my powers?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:17 p.m.] That’s never happening btw. I just want to know how stupid you are right now.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:20 p.m.] Sorry. I didn’t mean that. I’m just tired.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:22 p.m.] Just one thing. Please.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:22 p.m.] Please?
[Friday XX, XX, 11:34 p.m.] Okay, I think I’ve finally drank enough to get to sleep. Love you bye.
[Friday XX, XX, 11:35 p.m.] JK

[Saturday XX, XX, 10:23 a.m.] Azura_3.png
That new Azura movie has a release date now, thought you two nerds would want to know. I might even be able to stomach it with enough popcorn.
Boscha pocketed her phone after sending the text before turning away from the movie poster. The two had been the first people to come to mind when she’d seen the poster and she’d almost instinctively sent the message to them. She could just see Amity squealing in her mind’s eye and the thought made her smile. The question now was whether Amity would play it cool in their group chat or freak out.
A question that Boscha checked on five minutes later in the ticket line, ten minutes in the snack line, thirteen as Em, Ed, and her all took their seats, and about every two minutes after that as the previews kept playing. By then, Boscha’s mind was entirely gone from the horror movie the three were supposed to be watching as she kept her phone on her leg, even as the lights came down for the proper trailers. Something just wouldn’t let her rest though. She didn’t even know what it was. They might be busy after all. Both of them. No, Boscha, they’re in a relationship. But they didn’t say they were going out today. They rarely did though. Did neither of them have their phones on them? Should she call them to make sure they weren’t kidnapped or the like?
“Wow, now I can see how you sent over sixty texts in one night.”
“Bite m-” Boscha froze before slowly turning to Emira who casually sipped on her soda. The two locked eyes for a second before Boscha began to creep out of her seat. “What are you talking about?”
Ed hovered his hands over Boscha’s shoulders as he tried to make sure neither of them really got in others’ ways from seeing the film. “Uh, just some silliness Amity shared with us once. You and her texting back and forth furiously. It was really impressive.”
“Only if you count silence as a response.”
Boscha’s eyes darkened. About ten seconds later, Emira’s clone exploded in a shower of blue dust as the angry girl threw her out of the theater. Boscha panted as her pupils shrank, especially when she saw Emira casually leaning against a wall. “How the fuck do you know about that night?”
Emira sipped on a new soda before putting it to the side so this one didn’t get crushed like the first one had. “When you wouldn’t stop texting her, Amity asked that one of us go through your texts because she couldn’t quite get herself to block you yet.”
“She never did.”
“And you figured out that she wasn’t listening to texts.”
Boscha’s knuckles turned white as she stepped closer to Emira. A clone of Edric popped up for a second but got punched out before it could utter even a single word. Boscha was almost too angry to speak which made it a good thing that Emira wasn’t going to leave the conversation up to her. “I’m not happy I can tease you about it. I remember what you said at the end of that night after all.”
Boscha paled for a second before she let her anger reignite and she hissed, “That was just because she’s my best friend. I don’t know why people don’t fucking get that.”
Emira raised an eyebrow before stretching herself out. “I wanted to maybe ask if you’d like to be taught how to express yourself better. Something that might get Amity to understand your feelings better, like not wanting to be left on read or,” she said with a smirk, “that you two are ‘just friends’.”
Boscha leaned in with narrowed eyes as she asked, “And what makes you think I want to do anything you ask of me right now?”
Emira raised her hands in faux defeat as she said, “Nothing. In fact, all of this may be complete bullshit since I wouldn’t even be teaching you. Ed would.”
Boscha looked at Edric who looked like he was about to choke on his popcorn before he gasped for air. “You’re talking about that!?”
Emira smiled and nodded. “And even if you think it’s pointless, it’ll help with the talent show. So, what do you say?”
There was a silence before Boscha felt a tingle run through her fingers. She was being messaged. What were they saying? Or was it just some spam? If it was spam, she swore to Tit- The rough girl covered her face for a second as she calmed herself before sighing. “You really think this could help?”
Emira shrugged. “Now? Probably not. Someday? I mean, if you were on the field, wouldn’t you want every tool and option you could have to make a winning play?”
Boscha grew very, very quiet at that before simply turning around and heading back into the theater while checking her phone.
[Saturday XX, XX, 11:02 a.m.] That sounds great.
[Saturday XX, XX, 11:03 a.m.] What are you up to?
[Saturday XX, XX, 11:03 a.m.] Taking a break from studying. Why?
[Saturday XX, XX, 11:04 a.m.] No reason. Have fun with your books.
“So, how is Amity?”
Boscha glared back at the two twins before shutting her eyes and turning away from them. “Whatever you two have planned had better be really good or you’re paying for tonight.”
Edric yelled, “But we already did!” while Boscha walked away. The twins then looked at each other before the young man asked, “I know we joked about teaching Boscha but you know I already said I wasn’t comfortable with the idea so…”
Emira glanced away as her mind drifted to every picture of her and Edric. Every smile the two shared. Every comforting hug that told her things would be okay. Every day that would mean nothing if for some reason either of them had to disappear. She shut her eyes for a moment before whispering, “Because Amity doesn’t have enough people like her and Boscha wouldn’t ever hurt Mittens.”
“But-”
“Ed, please, just do it? For me?”
Emira looked up as Edric placed his hands on her shoulders and gave the young woman a large smile. “Alright, but you owe me some cookies when we get home.”
Emira nodded before the two walked back into the theater to enjoy the movie where Boscha seemed weirdly jumpy for how she normally was. It probably didn’t help that the young girl forced herself to not pull out her phone during the entirety of it. She shouldn’t after all. It was rude. Not that she cared but, well…
Well, Amity obviously believed her since she never got another text back until Luz saw the message that afternoon when she got back home from her and Eda getting kidnapped by some abomination poachers as ‘the human wonder’ and ‘the cursed beast’ respectively.
