Amity only slowed down once she got to the library. Whatever was going on wasn’t good. Or amazing. Depended really on what part of her brain you were asking at any given time. After all, more Luz was almost always a good thing. A bunch of Luz’s who seemed way more comfortable on calling her out on her fuck ups? That was bad. That was the worst possible thing. Admittedly, she knew what sort of spell this likely was, which meant she was going to strangle Edric and Emira when she got home, so anything she said to the clones wasn’t really a problem. She could pretend she was just in a dream.
Or, that’s what she wished she could say. After all, she didn’t even know if Luz knew all of these versions of her were running around and talking about some sort of a sleepover. If the idiot was friends with her clones, which, let’s face it, she would be, then they might tell her anything that Amity did and the serious girl couldn’t have that. Not only that, but messing around in a self contained dream was one thing. Trying to even flirt with Luz in real life was almost inconceivable, even if it was a fake Luz.
Now if only someone would tell these Luzs that so they wouldn’t flirt with her. She sighed as she finally got to her hiding spot. She just had to slip in and stay here until everything blew over. That was it. She just had to stay rela-
Fweee!
Amity’s eye twitched at the sudden, violent sound and she growled for a second at whoever it was that was in her sanctuary. The offender was the closest to normal Luz that she had seen as she wore a red, rubber nose and a party hat but otherwise was normal. She also had a party blower at her lips that Amity yanked out and ripped into two before the clone could consider blowing out her ears again.
The party Luz awed at the loss of her toy before reaching into her back pocket. “Don’t worry, I’ve got more. We can even blow them together!”
Amity rolled her eyes before holding a finger to her lips. “Shush. This is a library after all.”
The Luz clone though just brushed it to the side. “I thought that myself but then Luz came by and knocked out the librarian so I could have my fun and surprise you like this! They were even the one who suggested I wait here because she thought you’d come here.”
Okay, so not the real Luz. She hoped. She glanced around herself for a moment before sighing in relief as she didn’t see her actual crush. Then again, Luz was the one who could get rid of these the best so… Amity put her face into her hands before groaning. Why did the twins decide they had to do this? Did they have to make her life miserable specifically? Wait, don’t answer that.
“Oh, a mini abomination. How cute.”

This Luz’s voice, and Amity was just assuming at this point that anyone who approached her was another clone at this point, was a lot more deadpan. When Amity turned around, this clone stopped petting her new familiar. It wasn’t too surprising to her that this one liked it though. Not when she wore dark makeup, a pentagram t-shirt, and a short skirt that led into fishnet stockings. The goth Luz even gave her only the slightest hint of a smile before saying, “Hey, Amity.”
Amity slowed her breathing before looking between the two of them and saying, “Look, I get that you all have been told something dumb by my siblings, but just leave me alone. After our last sleepover, the only Luz I want to see is the real Luz.”
Both Luzs looked like their hearts had been stomped as they now came together. They then tilted their heads at the same time as they asked, “But, what if one of us were the real one? Would you hate her just because she decided to change a little?”
Amity opened her mouth but nothing came out. She… didn’t have an answer for that after all. She wanted her Luz after all. But if her Luz changed, what would her response be? She kept pushing away other versions after all.
While Amity stared into space, a figure slipped behind the two clones. The different Luzs only registered the new person in time for the goth one to see the party Luz get smacked on the top of the head by a wooden pole. She then turned around to see the assailant, only to get that same staff smashed into her stomach while being driven by the wielder’s palm so hard that she was thrown into one of the nearby shelves and knocked unconscious.
Amity blinked, having barely processed what happened by the time the figure reached out to her with her free hand. “Come with me if you want to live?”
The serious girl yelped a little, her brain still too caught up in everything to recognize the somewhat close voice. What was immediately recognizable was her laugh. That dumb laugh that made Amity’s legs turn to jello that left Cluz’s mouth as she propped the staff against her shoulder. The clone then gave Amity a wide smile as she said, “Sorry, human joke. But,” she said as she offered her hand to the other girl again, “Luz asked me to help with everything going on and that’s what I’m doing here so will you follow me?”
Amity fidgeted for a moment as she looked down at the other two clones. The goth one was groaning on the floor as the party one was rubbing the top of their head and whining about the pain. Both seemed mostly okay, in spite of how violently and quickly this new, older looking Luz had taken them down. That was encouraging, but the fact that she was older wasn’t. Was that impossible? Had the magic and Luz being a human clash and this was produced? Or was it that those lucky jerks managed to somehow make some new breakthrough with zero effort?
She winced at getting so mad at the two, but she was always more on edge about them after her extra classes. That always made her want Luz more too, something she couldn’t help but think about as she looked at the calm demeanor of this newest clone and her friendly hand. Amity blushed at the idea of maybe having this one stick around before slowly taking her hand.
About a minute after Cluz and Amity got out of the library, Luz finally sprinted into it. She had taken out five more clones on the way there and she was getting really tired of getting stopped by them at this point, or none of them being able to actually help her with the larger problem. At least most of them said that they hadn’t seen Amity either, but that didn’t put Luz’s mind at ease either. She’d have preferred to have had them all show up as one big surprise after all, not needing to have to hunt them down so they didn’t bother her crush.
Getting to Amity’s secret base and finding two more clones didn’t help her feel better. She put a foot on goth’s shoulder and pushed down to absorb her before party flipped herself over with one more groan. Luz stepped over to her and placed a foot on this clone’s stomach before looking down at them. “Okay, have you seen Amity and/or an older me?”
Party rubbed her head for a moment before laying back in defeat. “Yeah. Those two just ran off. I don’t get it though. After all, Cluz was the one who told me to wait here for Amity and then out of nowhere pops me on the head. I guess it’s a heck of a prank…”
Luz paled at the ‘they’ part before stomping the clone back into her. She didn’t have time to waste, not when Cluz didn’t seem like the sort to wait to get what she wanted. She was too cool for that.
