Luz grumbled a little as she walked up the path to Amity’s house. It wasn’t because she didn’t want to see her crush. In fact, she was excited to maybe actually get to listen to some music with her today! There was just one problem. She’d had to wait until after detention to head to Amity’s to get her phone back. And that wouldn’t have even been a problem because Eda had told her about a little hole in the wall that the creature in detention couldn’t get you at.
No, the problem came with the fact that Eda wasn’t the only one who knew about the hiding spot. Which meant she’d had to share the hour with a student who apparently got thrown in there for her anger issues from time to time. Well, outside of Grudgby season.
Boscha glanced over at Luz before smirking. “Is something wrong, round ears?”
Luz tried, and failed, not to growl at the other girl. “You’re not supposed to be here. And hey, I thought you were going to stop calling me that?”
Boscha covered her mouth as she giggled before slipping it back into her letterman jacket. “Like I told you, you shouldn’t have bragged about coming here then. I can like music just as much as anyone else after all.” She then narrowed her eyes as she leaned closer to Luz and hissed, “And I thought you liked nicknames.”
Luz glared back at the bully before asking, “Does that mean I can call you B-”
There was a fireball the size of Luz’s head in Boscha’s hand almost instantly as she said, in a voice as cold as steel, “Finish it. I fucking dare you.”
“Oh, Boscha! Long time no see.”
The two squabbling girls looked up the path and saw the twins come out of the house. The fireball in Boscha’s hand vanished instantly before she tucked her hands back into her jacket and glanced away. “Yeah, well, you should be seeing more of me from now on.”
Luz looked the other way than the bully as she mumbled, “Not if you keep being such a jerk.”
Boscha’s eyes glanced back at the human before they tried to lower. She wasn’t about to look pathetic in front of Emira and Edric though so she instead rolled her shoulders and began walking up to them. “We’re just here to pick up Rou-,” for the love of Titan, “Luz’s phone.”
The twins glanced at each other with stupid grins before holding fingers over their lips. “Mittens has started singing along to a few of the songs and it has been priceless so we suggest surprising her.”
Amity singing? Bullshit. Luz didn’t seem surprised though as she gasped. “Oh, I bet it’s Chop Away at My Heart! Song always gets stuck in my head.”
Boscha frowned for a second. “Why in the world would you name a song that? It sounds like agony.” She then couldn’t help smirking and kissing the air at Luz. “Which means I’d be more happy than to do it with you.”
For a second Luz’s face turned bright red before she realized what the other girl meant. “Ha ha ha. Very funny.”
The twins glanced at each other for a second. Was Boscha trying to put the moves on Luz? Wait, could they make Mittens jealous… The two rubbed their chins for a moment before dismissing it for now. “Anyways, she’s in her room.”
Boscha nodded while Luz actually thanked the two of them. The triclops made sure to stay ahead of the human though. After all, just walking into the house made her begin to rapidly blink to make sure they didn’t water. Did the Blights fire their housekeeper or something with all this stuff to get in her eyes? It was even worse when she started walking up the steps to Amity’s room. She even stopped at the top step from how bad everything in the air was.
Luz frowned at the pause before asking, “Boscha? Is something wrong?”
“Bo, understand that this is the best thing that could ever happen to us so if you fuck this up… Well, we hopefully won’t have to discuss that, will we?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”

If it were Amity, the cold tone would have made Luz concerned. She kind of assumed that was more standard operating procedure for Boscha though. So the two walked up to Amity’s room in silence. Neither wanted to be spitting venom at each other in front of the serious girl. Besides, it let them catch Amity’s soft singing faster.
“I kissed a girl and I liked it! The taste of her cherry chapstick.”
Boscha stopped dead in her tracks at hearing not only the line but also that Amity actually knew how to sing. And really well. Then again, she was biased to think that. Best friend and all. And luckily for Luz, the bully was too interested in seeing her friend to look back and catch the human’s steaming head.
“I kissed a girl just to try it, hope my parents don’t mind it!”
Boscha heard that and couldn’t stop herself from smirking as she slipped into the doorway to Amity’s bedroom. The serious girl let out a shrill shriek as she saw her old friend and only turned brighter red than getting caught already had her when Boscha said, “Say, if you want to actually try it, and I think I’ve got some chapstick in my pock-”
The bully then disappeared as a rainbow colored blur slammed her back into the hallway. Amity covered her face as she tried to calm herself before seeing the same blur be thrown back. Boscha was back on her feet just a second later and yelling, “What the fuck?”
It was only then that Amity realized who the second person was as she shrieked, “Luz!”
Boscha crossed her arms as she growled down at the dumb human who was holding her face to cover her bloody nose. “Oh, don’t cry. A kick to the face is the least…” She stopped as Amity passed by her before curling her hands into fists. She was just trying to have some fun but this fucking bitch…
Maybe this human was a lot less friendly than she tried to look most of the time. Or she just hated Boscha that much, neither of which quelled the rage inside of the bully for a second. She couldn’t just start cussing the idiot though for tackling her like that though. Not in front of Amity. Not that her best friend looked like she could be angrier as she turned to her. “What were you thinking, Boscha?”
Boscha crossed her arms as she looked away and tried to not shut her eyes in pain. “Hey, I was just trying to make a joke. She’s the one who tackled me first.”
Amity stood up and crossed her arms as well as she stared down her old friend. “Yeah, but she’s not the Grudgby team captain. Luz can’t hurt you so why do you care if she helps you-
practice taking a hit?”
Boscha’s eyes widened as for a second her body shook at the thought. Why was she thinking about that? She never did before all of this. This time she couldn’t stop herself from shutting her eyes as tears came to the edges of her eyes. “That’s not fair.”
Amity rolled her eyes before saying, “And neither is forcing Luz to bring you here with her. Why did you come over anyways?”
Luz actually spoke up at that, even if her voice was nasally from trying to plug up her nose. “She was hoping to listen to music with us.”
Amity blinked a few times as she remembered the nights when her and Boscha would study together while listening to the bully’s custom playlists. Even when she managed to embarrass her by making a mixtape just for Amity of the songs she would ask Boscha to turn up. She then shut her eyes against the thought before looking at her old friend. “Well, I’m not really in the mood right now.”
Boscha’s eyes narrowed her eyes before deciding to go for a Hail Titan with a sigh. “I also came over to invite you two to a sleepover at my place. Just like old times. If I can’t manage to behave then I’ll leave you both alone. And Gus and Willow since I know you’ll care about that.” She then made a circle in the air before putting her hand in the middle of it. “I swear.”
Amity’s eyes widened at seeing the Everlasting Oath. Boscha wasn’t nearly as stupid as Luz so there was no way this was a bluff. Luz wasn’t about to just stay quiet at the thought of having to sleep in the same room as Boscha. “Yeah, a whole night of this sounds great.”
Amity’s voice was soft though as she turned to her crush and placed a hand on her crush’s shoulder. “Wait. If there is a chance you two can bury the hatchet then it’s at her place. She always managed to calm down the most there.” Amity then briefly smiled to herself as she thought about the time when right before they went to bed Boscha finally let her touch her, even if at the time it was extremely embarrassing to hold the other girl’s hand through the night.
“And I promise not to bury it in your heart.”
Amity whipped around as she yelled, “What?”
Luz decided to relent herself though as she said, “Joke from earlier. Promise.”
Amity sighed. Why did they have to be so exhausting together. Then again, that probably just meant that she’d get one heck of a night’s sleep if the two did manage to get together. Wait, what if they teamed up to tease her? She paled for a second before reminding herself that she had to finish taking care of this first. “So you’re willing to at least try?”
Luz sighed but her heart just couldn’t write Boscha off yet. Not when it looked like this would actually mean something to Amity. Besides, more friends was never a bad thing, right? “Yeah. But, uh, mind if I go get a tissue finally?”
Both witches flinched as they remembered that Luz was in fact still bleeding and waved her off almost immediately. Amity then turned to her friend before asking, “Are you sure you want to go through with this? You could work on being better before you…” Amity sighed as she looked at her hand.
Boscha just scowled as she said, “The fact that you can’t admit that this is goodbye just proves to me that we have to. Besides, when are you next going to let me talk to you like this?”
Amity scowled a little at her friend. No, at herself. After all, the second she forgave Willow she’d written Boscha off like it was nothing. She wanted an answer too about whether this mattered still. So, finally, she put her hand in the ring too.
The two shook and then Boscha walked off. She didn’t let there be more discussion. The two would text later over Penstagram about the sleepover being tomorrow but Boscha just wanted out of there. She didn’t want to focus on the fact that she knew she was fucked. But she had been so scared and had to do something. Anything.
And so, just like she would in the past, she pulled out her scroll phone and made a kissing face at the camera on it while also making a peace sign. Then she typed, ‘Guess who’s got a sleepover with her bestie tomorrow?’ but for the first time ever, bragging about time with Amity didn’t make her feel any better. In fact, it only made her feel worse, especially since she kept waiting for Amity to leave a comment saying they were no longer besties but the serious girl no longer followed Boscha and didn’t bother checking her feed when they messaged each other.
Which just left tomorrow as Boscha’s last chance to manage something. Chugging most of her water bottle made it all too easy to sleep though, so at least she’d be rested.
