Me

Boscha groaned as she left the locker rooms. Even just a few days away from the field had left her a touch rusty. Well, that or the bruising but some healing cream had helped with that, especially since Amity had been willing to put it on her.. Of course, her bestie had refused to help her get any on her chest. She would need to work on that. After all, Amity needed to relax about that sort of stuff. They were fourteen and she was going to just have to be ready for when people who were actually interested in dating her started hitting on her.

Luckily, Boscha was more than happy to help her bestie and it was going to be even easier nowadays than it would have been before, well, everything. At least if they could relax again. Boscha rubbed her temples at the memories before shoving them away. It didn’t matter why they’d been friends, just that they had been. Nothing could take away her passion for photography after all, she thought as she summoned her scroll phone. Tongue stuck out, third eye rolled back while her other two dropped, and head tilted a little to sell just how tired she was. Coming out of Grudgby practice like a zombie. Mood?

She then looked down at the squeak of sneakers before smiling a little. “Hey, I haven’t seen you around much, Luz.”

Luz blinked a few times before saying, “I think that might be the friendliest greeting you’ve ever given me.”

Boscha shrugged a little. “Let’s just say I haven’t forgotten what you said a few nights ago. However,” she said as she stepped closer to the human and slipped her arms over Luz’s shoulders, “I think you and I know how much better my greeting that night was. Wouldn’t you agree?”

Bosha’s two eyed wink was the last touch to light a few bits of Luz’s hair on fire again before she frantically began smacking her head to put it out. “Will you stop that?”

Boscha snickered as she stepped back. “Maybe once you and Amity stop being so easy to tease. Then again, if your brain is as small as your ears then you might be hopeless.”

Luz blushed a bit before saying, “Really? Are you going to keep talking about my ears?”

The bully rolled her eyes for a second before stating, “I meant it as a joke for once.” She then sighed as she crossed her arms. “I guess if it really bothers you that much though, I’ll stop bringing them up altogether instead of just not calling you Round Ears.”

Luz tried glancing at her ears for a second pulling on them. “I mean, Amity likes them so if you want to just keep making her think about them, I guess I can’t complain.”

Oh. That was how it was going to be. It actually made Boscha smile before she decided to drop it. She was too tired to really fight over Amity right now. Especially since she was curious about something. “Speaking of thinking about you, where have you been?”

Luz blushed a little as she glanced away and scratched her head. “Well, um, I decided to take a few days to just, you know, relax. I’m not exactly used to the sort of stuff that you had to deal with.” She then chuckled a little as she said, “I haven’t even been willing to look at a water bottle.”

Boscha groaned at the thought. She could easily blame not having her water bottles for why she was so tired and got so many headaches when she wasn’t just relaxed. “Same. Anytime Amity doesn’t watch me fill mine, she forces me to let her check it. Heck, even if she does she’ll still check to make sure I didn’t use a potion or something to transform it.”

Luz winced a little at the thought before reaching out to Boscha’s shoulder but stopping herself short. No touchy. But the bully did notice and smiled at the gesture which let Luz breathe easy. “Can you really blame her though?”

Boscha chuckled a little before sighing. “No, I can’t, especially,” she said with a smirk, “she’s pretty commonly coming by my place now.”

Luz felt a small pang of pain in her chest. She wasn’t about to tell anyone about it, but part of the reason she’d avoided Amity and Boscha was because it hurt way more than it should have when Amity told her that she’d forgiven the bully and that she was going to try and mend their relationship. Sure, her crush had said that Luz didn’t need to try and get along with Boscha but if the two were going to start hanging out then she didn’t have much of a choice, did she? “Well, maybe I’ll see if Amity wants help on water watch.”

Boscha raised an eyebrow before tilting her head. “Do you want to know what will happen if you try?”

There was a small pause between them before Luz began to say, “I know I should say no but-” right before Boscha kicked her right in the shin. “Ah! Why?”

“Because you’re not Amity.”

Luz wished she didn’t entirely understand that. However, as she hopped, she turned around to see a pair of yellow eyes looking at her. The human let out a small shriek before she threw herself off balance by trying to wave at her crush before crashing to the ground. Boscha casually pulled back out her scroll phone before snapping a picture of Luz flailing on the ground before saying, “Stupid human doing stupid human things. And post.”

Amity rolled her eyes for a second as the blush of watching her idiot flail about faded. “Can I not leave you two alone for five minutes?”

Luz lifted pointed up from the ground as she said, “Probably not!” Boscha was quick to grab the human’s hand and yank her back onto her feet. Luz, for as much as she wanted to thank her new frenemy, couldn’t as she grabbed her wrist and let out a protracted, “Ow.”

Boscha smirked before patting the idiot on the head. “Ah, just as fragile as you are flammable.”

Amity managed to giggle at it all. She wasn’t going to tell Boscha but she’d realized over the past few days that she now didn’t have just one idiot best friend, but two. Maybe that’s why it was so fun to see the two go at it like this. “Are you two done, or do I need to walk myself home?”

Both idiots turned instantly towards Amity before yelling, “No!” They then looked at each other, glared for a second at their enemy, before Boscha flipped some of her hair behind an ear. “Of course, I’d end up catching up eventually.”

Luz rolled her eyes as she put her hands on her hips. “I mean, we were going to try and study together so I would too.”

The bully narrowed her eyes before saying with a wide smirk, “Yeah, that’s totally why.”

Luz blinked a few times before looking at Amity. “Uh, what does she mean by that?”

Amity’s face turned bright red before looking at her old bestie. “She, um, asked that I let her tell you the news.”

Boscha didn’t answer though. She instead just kept her smirk up as she crossed her arms. “Oh, I only asked you that to make sure I was here when Luz’s jaw dropped. She might not believe me though if I tell her.”

Luz looked between the two as Amity glared at Boscha before she gave her old bestie a small smile. The sort of smile that Boscha knew she only gave someone when she was going to tear their confidence asunder. “Alright. If that’s going to be the case then,” she said as she turned to Luz, “I’ll do it.”

“Wait, uh, I take it-”

Amity held up a hand to stop her. “After my parents, mmm, took care of her dad, she became a freeloader who keeps crashing in one of our spare rooms no matter what we tell her.” She then sighed and relented as Boscha’s face turned bright red. “And until she graduates and finds a place of her own, we’re pretty sure we’re never actually going to tell her to leave.”

Luz blinked a few times before her brain clicked and put it together and she yelled, “Wait, Boscha lives with you?”

Boscha slipped an arm around Amity’s shoulder and got the serious girl to turn red as she said, “Yep, so I can bother her whenever I want. She’s even caught me coming out of the shower once. Jealous?”

Luz’s face turned bright red, even as she curled her lips back and balled her fists up. Amity wasn’t about to let that stand though as she elbowed her old bestie in the side. “Oh, yeah, she was real proud of it while begging for me to grab her some clothes because she forgot to bring a new outfit in with her and was terrified of coming out in just a towel in case any of us caught her.”

Boscha’s face turned bright red as she turned to her friend and growled, “Amity, you’re not supposed to tell her that!” She then looked at Luz and tried to stand up straight and look like she wasn’t half as embarrassed as she was. “I-I’m just trying to be respectful. I only just moved in after all.”

Luz still glared at the bully before mumbling, “More like moving in on my territory,” before her face turned bright red. “I-I mean, uh, more like, um, moving in like a… terrier?”

Boscha tilted her head before asking, “The fuck’s a terrier?”

Amity giggled for a second before turning away from the two. “Come on you two. We have studying to do.”

Boscha glanced at Amity before looking back at Luz. “Ready to come back to my place?”

Luz was about ready to charge the other girl but then realized something great! “Yeah, but, uh, when do the adoption papers go through to make it official?”

Boscha glanced away as her cheeks warmed up way more than they should have. At least she wasn’t laughing after every few words like she had when she had talked to Alador and Odalia about this. “Well, uh, I kind of like the way things are with Amity right now. Us being sisters feels like something that would throw that off. Make it weird. Besides, I may be happy to be associated with the Blights but I don’t think I want their last name.”

Luz smiled to herself as she couldn’t help but think of Luz Blight before her eyes became the size of dinner plates and she took off away from Boscha. She then screeched, “Last one there is a rotten egg,” as she passed Amity.

The two besties blinked a few times before Boscha put her hands on her hips. “Is she always like that?”

Amity sucked in her lips as she decided to omit the fact that she was normally the one who did that before saying, “Uh, not really. Not until recently at least.”

“Well, at least it’s an entertaining sort of stupid.” Boscha then paused as she watched the dumb human run off. The same human that hadn’t run until she had to. She still held a bit of a grudge for how much she fucked everything up a few nights ago but if she hadn’t… “Is it common for her screw ups to somehow come around to being something you want?”

Amity sighed as she watched Luz run. “Yeah. It’s one of those things that’s really special about her..” The serious girl’s eyes then shot open like Luz’s had less than a minute ago. “I mean, it’s stupid! And dumb! She’s, uh, just lucky is all.”

Boscha covered her mouth with the back of her hand as she laughed. She remembered when people first started talking about this sort of dumb shit from Amity. She hadn’t believed it at the time, even when Skara began posting it on her alt, but she couldn’t deny it now she supposed. It was kind of cute. Would their relationship become like that? Two idiots laughing at each other being silly?

That actually didn’t sound that bad, even if she was probably going to tease Amity for it. That’s what best friends did though. Just like they always had. Now if only her chest wouldn’t hurt when she thought that sort of thing.
