Chapter 168

Chapter 168

Max sat in a bath of emerald water, the soothing liquid easing his injuries as he leaned back against the smooth stone edge.

Earlier it took him an entire 10 hours to reach the closest mountain, where Lucy had created a simple house for him

.....

On the table nearby, Max's super phone projected a 3D holographic image, its screen flickering with data.

Max's eyes were fixed on the display, his expression thoughtful as he scrolled through information about Varek's finances.

"AI, find Varek's savings," Max said, his voice low. "If he came ready to die, he must've left his wealth somewhere. I'm not letting it slip away."

The AI processed the request, its holographic interface shifting to display a list of banks and accounts. After a few moments, it highlighted one name: [The Vault] .

"The Vault," Max muttered, his lips curling into a smirk. "Fancy name for a bank. What do we have here?"

The AI displayed Varek's account details, showing that only two people could access it: Varek himself and a distant relative of his; the holder of a secondary access card.

Max's smirk widened. "Change the secondary access to Charles. Send him a message to empty the account and deliver everything to me in Kain-city."

The AI complied, its screen flashing as it hacked into The Vault's systems and sent the instructions to Charles.

.....

With the task completed, Max leaned back in the bath, his gaze fixed on the holographic screen but his mind elsewhere.

His luck had worsened or to be more accurate it has changed in nature.

Previously it wasn't just bad luck, it was something deeper, more deliberate. Max had always had random encounters that felt too purposeful, as if someone or something was trying to lead him by the nose, to make him a pawn. But now, things were different.

'The will of the Central World,' thought Max to himself.

Max had always had a guess that his luck situation was the doing of the will of the world.

Normally such things like the wills wouldn't put to much attention on Geniuses or other Unique Individuals, if they can be used than it's good but if they can't so be it.

But in this dungeon war, where geniuses like him were rare and valuable. The Central World's will had likely seen him as a tool to tackle dungeons and interfere with the plans of the dungeon races.

It even tried to do something to his pets;

Imlak, wasn't always stupid. In fact, he had been born with the highest IQ among the crows.

However, Imlak had carried the mark of the Central World's will or something of sort. The simulator had removed the mark when Imlak became Max's pet, but the process had damaged his intelligence. Max had always acted as if he didn't notice a thing even though the simulator had informed him.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

It was better that way since he couldn't really do anything about it, and he could by time this way. But Max had killed too many of its "toys," and now it seemed to have given up on him.

"So now my luck is just... bad," Max said, his tone resigned. 'Good news and bad news, I guess.'

The good news was that the Central World's will might have given up on manipulating him. The bad news was that it had the power to permanently worsen someone's luck, and it seemed to have done just that to Max.

Max sighed, his gaze drifting to the holographic screen. The data flickered, but his mind was elsewhere.

"Sigh."

Max shook his head, pushing aside his thoughts about luck and the Central World's will. He needed to focus on more immediate matters, like his fight with Varek.

He waved his hand, and the holographic screen floated in front of him, its surface resembling a blank sheet of paper. Using his finger, Max began writing, recalling the details of the battle and analyzing what he could've done differently;

-Varek's Strength and Vitality were at the B-rank, but Max could've dealt with him more efficiently.

- for example When Max landed in the forest, instead of the cannon plan, he could've ambushed Varek with a large mirror as he was landing at high speed, trapping him in the mirror world and killing him easily.

- another point is that even though he had many opportunities to, he missed chances to use the radiation-sealing mirror, losing his calm in the heat of the fight.

Max kept listing multiple mistakes, and eventually he just sighed, his lack of experience becoming too evident.

High-speed battles like that were already difficult, and he hadn't had enough practice to keep a cool head.

"I need to fix this," Max muttered. "And fast."

Max's thoughts turned to the deep dive VR technology that was supposed to be released soon. It would be the perfect solution for gaining combat experience without real-world risks.

"AI call Charles."

The call connected after a few rings, and Charles's voice came through.

"Hi, Boss! I just got your message. Haven't dealt with it yet, but I'm on it."

"Alright," Max said, cutting straight to the point. "I called for something else. You know that new VR tech? When it's out, get one for me and.... .. "

"Wait, wait, Boss," Charles interrupted. "It's already out. I got one for myself. It's pretty amazing."

Max blinked. "Huh? It shouldn't be. The release date isn't for another month."

Charles laughed. "That date is for the *people*."

"huh ? People?"

"We're rich, Boss. We're not people."

Max was speechless for a moment, then sighed. "Alright, get me the best one and send it with everything else later. Wait for me to reach Kain-city before sending it."

.....

Just as Max was about to hang up, Charles spoke again. "Oh, Boss, I was about to call you about something else. The rainbow stone mine, it's going to be sold soon. The B-rank expert who owns it isn't patient, and they're not doing well. I even heard someone(most probably that expert) is trying to sell rainbow stones on the black market, but no one's buying because the prices are too high for something without a sure value."

Max raised an eyebrow. "huh? Is that a speculation? Or solid info."

"My dad's speculation on the matter. " Charles said. "He thinks they're worthless, but I thought I'd run it by you."

Max pulled up a map on his holographic screen, studying the location of the mine. It would require a small detour, but nothing too inconvenient.

"Forget about the mine," Max said after a moment. "It's probably worthless. But secretly buy all the stock on the black market. Keep it quiet."

"Got it, Boss," Charles said.

As the call ended, Max leaned back, his mind racing. Rainbow stones were a resource only a lucky person could use, completely useless to himself, but it should be a strategic resource to the will of the world if any method of use is discovered. If used correctly, they could be a powerful tool.

But Max saw something else in it, a way to give the will of this world some pay back, even if it's just some insignificant blow.

' why not Blow up the mine on my way,' thought Max, a small smile playing on his lips. 'If I can't use it, then no one can.'

"Lu. "

' yes! You OK now! '.

" yeah, I am almost fully healed."

'great!' Responded Lucy her mental tone cheerful.

" Little Lu, I need you to start producing gunpowder and rocket fuel and use the Kraxtal weaving to put them in special containers that would intensify the explosion... I'd give you a simple blueprint later, first start production."

Lucy instantly became excited. ' explode!'

" yep we'll setting some fireworks. "

'yay.'

" Alright start work at top speed! I don't care if you drain this mountain. "

' OK. On it.'

Max closed his eyes planning to get some sleep as Lucy worked, he would be staying in this mountain for 2 more days, only after simulating will he think of moving.
