Chapter 160

Chapter 160

Max sat cross legged in the cave, his super phone glowing faintly in his hand. The call connected after a few rings, and Charles's voice came through.

"Boss! Hey, uh, how's it going? You cut the call suddenly earlier! Everything fine? . "

" Don't worry about it, How's things on you're side?"

"huh ! About that... apparently The B-rank national warehouse wouldn't open to us just because we're recognized to have a B-rank powerhouse, we need to prove our capability of making use of the materials.... but don't worry about it boss, you see our company already had the capability to make B-rank fashion equipment way before I took charge.

They were just scared of attracting hungry wolves, but now as long as I put things together it would be open to us soon!"

Max raised an eyebrow. "That's good. What about the list of goods? Did you send it?"

"Yeah, yeah, I just sent it," Charles said. "Check your phone. It's got everything we can buy through our channels right now."

Max opened the file, his eyes scanning the list. It was impressive, with items ranging from rare materials to high-tech gadgets. His gaze stopped on one particular entry: a consumable that looks like golden Sand.

A small smile played on his lips. "This could be useful," he muttered to himself.

Stolen novel; please report.

Max continued scrolling through the list, but his smile faded as he noticed the lack of skill books or anything related.

"Charles," he said, his tone sharp. "Why is there nothing useful in the skills section? Did you forget to add something?"

Charles hesitated. "Uh, no, Boss. It's just... there are some obstacles. Mostly individuals from our own company or other companies blocking the deals. We're working on it, but..."

"But what?" Max asked, his voice calm but with an edge.

Charles sighed. "We lack people who can get things done. You know, people with your level of... uh... high morals."

Max chuckled, understanding exactly what Charles meant. "You mean people with no bottom line."

"Exactly!" Charles said, relief evident in his voice. "But while we have the money to hire a few, I lack the..... How do I put this.... They will backstab me on the first day.."

Max shook his head, amused. "Fair enough. But I can't go around assassinating people all over the place. You'll have to deal with most of it yourself.

So for hiring.... How about this invite a bunch of D-ranks and I'd talk to them through video."

"I that would be great boss."

"for now Send me the list of people that need to be taken care of. If they're on my way, I'll take care of it."

Max's capability of assassination was simply over the roof, and he didn't mind clearing a few obstacles while on his way.

" That would be helpful."

"Also, I am going to send you a list of items to buy for me and a list of items and skills to keep watch for, once available buy them immediately."

"will do boss."

"send the good to Kain-city, I'd be there in 4 maybe 6 days."

Max cut the call, and went to have a meal, and after a good bath he would set off to Kain-city, since there weren't much for him to do on human territory.

........

Far away from Max's location, a man with bat like wings stumbled through a dense forest. His hair and beard were disheveled, his clothes torn and stained from long travel.

His eyes were bloodshot, as if he was crying not long ago, but they gleamed with a strange intensity as he clutched an ancient compass in his hand.

The compass was old, its surface covered in intricate carvings that glowed faintly in the dim light. The needle spun wildly before finally settling, pointing in a specific direction.

The man grinned, his cracked lips stretching into a wide smile. "Luck is finally smiling at me, for the 9th time apparently" he muttered, his voice hoarse but filled with crazed excitement.

He took off into the air, his bat like wings carrying him swiftly through the trees. Whatever he was searching for, he was closer than ever.
