The silver-haired boy, Karito, seemed to know more than he looked. He was calm and more observant than anyone in the room, as evident by some other people frantically looking for an exit, while some stared at us trying to gather as much information as they could about this bizarre place.
"So, is this him?" Karito suddenly turned his head towards Yuukai, then towards me.
Yuukai moved one chair near Karito's bed, and sat on it. He then introduced me to Karito as much as he could, suspiciously with amazing details.
"Then we have to be quick, the darkness wouldn't wait," Karito then tried to move from his bed, Yuukai attempted to help him stand, but he denied him. Karito then explained that we have to lift the curse from the land, by killing Yamisuke and his army. But... lifting the curse? I wasn't so sure that I could do that. Karito said as he was one of Aotori, the leaders of the revolutionists, perhaps he too had a grand plan.
"However, you're different from me," Karito pointed at me, "you're not him. Soon you'll know," he said some enigmatic lines that weren't understood by me at that time. He then sighed and wiped his face. "I need to see the world around," he walked outside the room.

Yuukai then turned to me to further confirm that Karito is one of the saviors' souls that he'd been looking for, and that I must be nice to him, because well... essentially, he was a century older than me. I wonder if his host wouldn't mind if an ancient soul took over his body.
The thought of someone else taking over your body is scary. Imagine someday you woke up from your sleep and didn't come back to the place you were sleeping, but instead somewhere else, where you can't control your body. Otherwise, maybe you'll never wake up again.
As the night followed, Yuukai gave me the key to my room in the academy dorm building. With views across the island. That's right, this 'school' is located on an artificial island southeast of the Mainland of the country. He said that this was done to protect the school itself from darkness' attacks. I wondered, since when has this school existed? I've never noticed anything about it until now. It sort of just popped into existence. The reason it was built was to protect the country from the darkness, but I don't have any recollection of it.
That night I thought about the consequences of my own birth. I imagined alternate realities, where maybe I wasn't born, and thus history wouldn't literally repeat itself. I cried, remembering how good my life was until that point. Realizing that now I have to live this new life, without any familiar faces of families and friends. I felt it was hard to go on, mainly because I don't want to live this miserable life, even though maybe in the end, I ended up as a hero of some sort, I just don't want to live someone else's life.
I wonder if that's the thing everyone thought of too.
