Genes:[Inner Vision : Level - 1/1] [Slow : Level - 8/10] [Multi-Instant Stop : Level - 2/4]
His gene’s didn’t level up at all, but his overall stats increased significantly. Cain spent the rest of the night holed up in the cave, before leaving in the morning. He headed towards a small city in order to get more supplies, he decided to stop the assassination business for a while considering the state of his body. While he was walking he noticed a sign up on a store wall
“Genetic Warrior Battle Royale, must be below Tier 5 to apply. Winner will be given a supreme gene elixir”
Cain read through the sign and was quickly intrigued by the offer. Regular gene stimulating elixir’s had long ago become ineffective on him, so this would be a good boon towards his strength. He was nearly a tier 3 at the moment, putting him at quite a disadvantage, but Cain wouldn’t give up before trying. Had this been a 1v1 type event, Cain would have no chance, but in a battle royale, he could put his assassination skills to the greatest usage.
The event would take place in the virtual world so you could fight from anywhere. The reward would also be directly teleported to your watch’s storage area making it extremely convenient. This was the benefit of living in such a technological advanced era, everyone was connected regardless of the distance. Cain spent the few days before the event training and healing, he needed to be in his best shape if he wanted to stand any chance of winning. The day came and Cain quickly joined the virtual world. The arena was a massive jungle making it a perfect place for Cain to display his skill set.
“Welcome all combatants. This event is sponsored by the Emerald Auction House. We hope all the warriors good luck, may the battle begin”
Cain was wondering who managed to get their hands on the supreme gene stimulating elixir but now it made sense. The Emerald Auction House was extremely wealthy and was a corporation that spanned across the galaxy, having stores on all major planets. For them this type of elixir was worth nothing, despite its retail value of 5,000,000 credits. Cain jumped into the treetops and headed into the jungle. Seeking out people to kill was pointless since the winner only depended on who lasted until the end.

He found a cave and rested inside, he still wasn’t completely healed so it was best to stay hidden until the competitors numbers dwindled down a little bit. Unfortunately, the tier 5 warriors were extremely arrogant so they acted opposite to the rest of the crowd. The searched for people to kill and would avoid one another, as if they had come to an agreement to get rid of everyone else first.
Despite Cain trying to hide, it wouldn’t be long before someone found him, so he had to constantly change spots. He looked up to the massive floating number in the sky, it showed how many people were still alive and was currently at 183. Cain wanted to wait until the number hit 50 or so before he started his hunt. However dreams are nice but reality is cruel, he had stumbled upon a tier 5 warrior and now he had to fight.
“Heh, what's a kid who isn’t even tier 3 doing here? You think you could hide until everyone else died. Ha, not on my watch”
The man wielded an axe and swung at cain, cain swerved to the side dodging the blow, however the trees behind him were severed in two, and a long scar ran across the land. Cain was shocked by that power, had it landed on him he would of died instantly. This tier 5 warrior seemed to have a gene known as the axe spirit gene, which made axe attacks far stronger than regular.
Cain was instantly suppressed heavily, this person had stats that were double Cain’s and the only reason Cain lasted so long was because the person seemed to be playing around with him. Cain decided to use his time stop ability on him, but something shocking happened. The warrior who was initially frozen, broke out of it with sheer strength. He now knew that his gene wasn’t invincibile, if his opponent was much stronger than him, they could forcibly break out of the timestop.
Cain’s slow gene luckily still had a bit of an effect, unfortunately even with him using it at full force, his enemy was still slightly faster than him. For the first time in Cain’s life, he knew what it was like to fight someone who was completely above him in every regard. He felt suffocated and he knew if he didn’t come up with a plan soon he’d be knocked out of this contest. He was lucky he was learning this here and not in the real world or else the cost of the lesson wouldn’t be something he could afford.
Cain kept dodging and moving back, his eyes were darting all over the jungle looking for an escape root. He decided to risk it and ran back to a cave he used in the past, the second he got in he used his spear to lunge at the roof of the cave, making it collapse. The cave was quite deep and Cain hadn’t explored it all so he quickly dashed down the tunnel. By the time the tier 5 warrior cleared the opening of the cave, Cain was already gone.
If the cave opened up at the end, Cain would be safe, however if it didn’t then he would be stuck at a dead end, making it impossible to escape the tier 5 warrior any longer. He crossed his fingers and prayed that it lead to an opening or else he could kiss that supreme gene stimulating elixir goodbye.
