After rushing down the tunnel for a few more minutes, Cain stumbled upon an underground river, he hopped in and let the water lead him away. He felt like a log in the river, tumbling and rolling around like crazy, a normal person would of been torn to pieces by the strength of the river but Cain was fine. He could also hold his breath for a few hours so he wasn't worried about the length of his trip.
Finally Cain resurfaced from the water, he realized he was in an unknown part of the jungle but at least he was away from that guy. Cain now knew that winning with his current strength was impossible, so he had to raise his strength as fast as possible. He had felt his genes were close to another breakthrough after that near death experience, so he decided to find a safe spot to breakthrough.
Cain who was nearly healed in the past was already broken and bruised once again, he cursed his bad luck, but this was a good learning experience for him. Cain had never been forced to such a point before, so without noticing he had started to grow a little arrogant, this event showed him how weak he really was. Cain found a massive tree and used his spear to dig out a little den, he covered the hole with a bush so he wouldn’t be noticed. Cain meditated and felt that familiar warmth soon spread through his body
Strength: 25
Speed: 45
Defense: 25
Genes:[Inner Vision : Level - 1/1] [Slow : Level - 9/10] [Multi-Instant Stop : Level - 3/4]
He could now be considered a fully fledged tier 3 genetic warrior, and his speed was nearly equivalent to tier 5, so he would be better equipped if he needed to escape in the future. Cain felt his body heal with this breakthrough, and suddenly felt much better compared to before. With his current speed he could nearly run at the speed of sound. He already had a good idea of that tier 5 warriors strength, and he felt he could beat him with his current capabilities.
He went back down the river, the way he came from, and soon entered back into the cave system. He looked down and noticed tracks, it seemed the person gave up after realizing Cain jumped into the river, so the tracks led back up the tunnel. It had been a few hours since the fight so the person was probably already a distance away, but that was no problem with Cain. He had learnt how to follow tracks during his assassination stint since it was a useful skill to have.

He exited the cave and kept following the footprints, they were getting fresher and fresher, meaning the person was nearby. Cain eventually saw the man in the stream taking a bath, he suddenly felt strange. Usually the hero would stumble across a beauty taking a bath, but he stumbled upon a middle aged man taking a bath. Cain felt like he was in the wrong story, but he ignored this feeling and decided to strike while the opportunity was his.
The warrior soon ended his bath and stepped back onto land. He went up to his clothes under a tree and put them on, but the second the shirt he was putting on covered his head, Cain struck. He used his time stop ability just to make his success rate even higher. In the past the man could have broken through, but now that Cain had gotten stronger he was no longer capable of the same feat.
Cain’s spear pierced through the top of the man's head and stabbed into the soil underneath. He disappeared and didn't forget to let out a swear before vanishing completely. Nothing was better than getting revenge on a person who once wronged you in the past, Cain felt a lot better now but knew something like this couldn’t replicated. He got extremely lucky this time, and managed to get the man while his guard was at the weakest.
Cain changed his strategy, from now on he wouldn’t be the hunted, but the hunter. This was the best chance to fight opponents who could give him pressure without the fear of death. Cain soon stumbled upon his second tier 5 opponent, after a strenuous battle, he managed to defeat him. Just like that Cain’s tier 5 slaughter began, each time he killed one he could handle the next one who came a little easier. His fighting skills were sharpening at a fast rate, this is what it was like being a monster.
For a regular person, they would have to fight multiple battles before they felt real improvement, however a monster would improve with every battle. Cain looked up and noticed the number in the sky had fallen down to 6, it seemed like the event was nearly over, but this was the most dangerous stage. The only people left were the real warriors, so each battle from this point forth would be a struggle between life and death.
The jungle arena was shrinking with every passing moment, it was to make sure the opponents would face each other sooner or later. Cain was heading through the jungles leisurely, he wasn’t afraid of facing anyone and was instead worried he wouldn’t find anyone. Cain eventually killed another tier 5 warrior, this was his hardest fight since the axe warrior, and he only won by a strand of hair.
Cain looked back up at the number and noticed it was at 2 now, it was only him and one other person. If Cain managed to get this supreme gene stimulating elixir, he could raise his slow gene and multi-instant stop gene to max level. At that point, he could start the fusion, and become a genetic general.
Cain still didn’t know what fusion he would attempt. Time based genes were quite rare so finding a possible fusion might be hard. Fusions worked by having an idea in mind, almost like an understanding. For example, if someone had a fire based gene and a water based gene, if they thought about lava during the fusion process, they would get a lava based gene. The thoughts have to align with the nature of your genes however, or else the fusion will fail and you might end up destroying all your genes in the process. People who did that would become cripples, which would destroy all your chances of cultivating to a higher realm in the future.
