Cain had directly jumped up 3 levels, and he could feel his control over his ability had improved tremendously. He could now use it far more efficiently, and its effect was even stronger than it had been in the past. Being able to see how the time energy flows could even help him come up with unique techniques, much like his slow spear in his past.
“Hmm, kid you seem stronger than before. Seems like you’ve successfully broken through. However there's something off about you, did you gain some sort of enlightenment?”
“Yeah, I’ve reached the sight realm”
“WHAT!?! No way kid, are you sure you aren’t just seeing things? Maybe the stress from not being able to reach the sight realm just made you go crazy. It’s impossible for you to be in the sight realm”
“Why would I need to lie to you, oldman?”
“...”
Oldman Belmon naturally didn’t have a response for that. He was shocked nonetheless, reaching the sight realm in a single sitting couldn’t be done by talent alone, it required tremendous luck as well, and Cain was overflowing with both.
“Alright, it's better this way. Now you’ll be able to smack around that 10th ranked kid no problem. It’s about time we left here, the time is about to go back into chaos, and if we get caught in the middle of that timestorm we’ll be in big trouble”
Cain looked around and noticed that the time energy in the air was starting to fluctuate a little. In the past it was quite calm, like a pond with no ripples, however now it was like someone was tossing stones into that pond, making the energy in the air ripple slightly, and it was only getting stronger as time passed.
“Oldman, do you have an idea what’s causing this?”
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
“Not exactly, but I have somewhat of an idea. The most logical answer would be a time based gene. Some experts seal their genes behind after they die, waiting for a successor to come along and take that gene. This may be a similar scenario, and the gene itself is what is causing the distortions of time in this area”
“So you’re saying this may be a good chance for me”
“Heh, not so fast kid. You’re still too weak at the moment, and from the looks of it, this gene is quite powerful. Maybe in the future when you get a little stronger, you can come back and search this area more thoroughly.”
Cain and Oldman Belmon soon left the Snail Realm Desert, and made it back outside. Looking back, you could see that the time which was originally calm had already gone back into chaos. Some zones were so thick with time energy, Cain could estimate that hundreds of years would pass by in a single moment in a spot like that. Had he been caught up in that he would have died of old age instantly, that would not be a very fun way to go.
“Kid stop dawdling, let's get back to the sect already.”
It didn’t take long before the two were back in front of the sect. Cain who was originally heading back to his house, was suddenly stopped by Durren. Durren was currently in bad shape, let he had just taken a beating.
“What happened to you?”
“Cain, you’ve got to leave quickly. Lambard’s lackey’s are surrounding the greenwood faction house, and say that unless you come to take a beating, then all your friends will take a beating for you”
“Hmph, they are really pushing it. Don’t worry about me, I’ve just had a breakthrough, if I can’t even handle a few lackeys, then my years of cultivation would have gone to waste”
Durren tried to persuade Cain otherwise, but what kind of person would he be if he left his friends behind to take a beating for him. Even if he didn’t have the confidence to win this fight, he would come all the same. Durren and Cain soon arrived at the greenwood faction house, it was surrounded by people, and the familiar Serlon was leading at front.
“Looks like you have some guts after all Cain. I was certain that you ran away a long time ago. Surround him boys, make sure not to kill him accidentally, but Lambard said we could cripple him for a few months no problem.”
Watching the people surround him, Cain didn’t get scared, instead he smirked. He was about to teach these kids a lesson they’d never forget.
“You really think I’m a soft permission you can crush whenever you want? Your first mistake was messing with me, and your biggest mistake was messing with my friends”
Cain stormed into the group of people, his body was like a ghost that moved around at the speed of light. Before a person could even notice, they had already taken a beating. Serlon got the worst of it, and was beaten so severely that his face swelled up to the size of a melon. He was trying to talk, but his lips were so swollen that his words came out muffled.
“Tell your leader to come here as well. Just beating his dogs isn’t enough to satiate my anger.”
