The Greatest Gene
Dangerous Battle

Dangerous Battle

Cain used this opportunity to open up a gap. He started analyzing Steve as he was dodging back and forth. Steve could only turn one part of his body into water at a time, since he was expecting Cain’s attack in the past, he had turned his torso into water, making Cain’s spear attack useless. Cain could feel the pressure tempering him, he didn’t use his multi-instant gene since it was his trump card. Cain could feel his strength and defense raising with each pummeling he took. Genes were the easiest way to raise stats, but naturally one could train naturally as well.

Everytime Cain tried to stab at Steve, he would turn that part into water. Eventually Cain felt he couldn’t keep going on for much longer, so the second Steve turned his fist into water, he froze him in time. Cain took this chance and swung his spear, severing Steve’s head from his body. Once time started again, Steve’s head flew off his body. You could see immense shock in Steve’s eyes, since from his perspective he was fine a second ago and suddenly lost his head.

Cain was sweating and panting hard, that fight had taken all the energy out of him. Without wasting any time, he took Steve’s head and left. Coming back to the bar, he found the same lady he had taken the quest from and handed the head over. Just like that Cain started his assassination career. He purposely avoided people with defense based gene’s since he knew he couldn’t beat them.

Each fight Cain took part in pushed him to his limits, his strength, speed, and defense slowly raised through the tempering of each battle. Sometimes he would win by a single thread, sometimes he didn’t and had to escape. Fortunately he had kept his life until now, but his body was already riddled with wounds and scars, his assassination rank kept raising as well. He was soon a tier 3 assassin.

Cain was currently about to kill another target, but he realized the scenario seemed a little off. It was far to quiet, Cain was already to deep into the mission so he decided to take the risk anyways. His target walked into a warehouse and Cain followed slowly, the second he entered the warehouse, the doors slammed shut behind. He was somewhat expecting this scenario, but he wasn’t scared, instead he was excited

People started coming out from behind the steel pillars and soon the warehouse was filled with different Genetic Warriors.

“You’ve killed a few of my men these last few weeks, naturally I am dissatisfied. That’s why I set this up, you can be proud you got killed by my group”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Cain had targetted the men from this gang since they were only tier 2-3 Gentic Warriors on average, and all of them were assassination targets so it was the perfect place for his hunt. However it seemed the leader of this small group had noticed and set this up in order to get rid of Cain.

“I never knew I was so important, I’m honored you went through all this trouble to get rid of me”

Cain smirked, the leader was the only real threat among these men, and from what Cain could tell he was around tier 4. Cain’s strength had raised a lot in this time though and he was already equivalent to a tier 3 Genetic Warrior.

“Let’s not waste anymore time. Attack!”

The entire group rushed at Cain at the same time, including the leader. Unfortunately real life wasn’t like movies, so they didn’t attack him on by one and instead tried to kill him with their numbers. Cain used his slow sphere to slow down everyone in the area, and swung his spear in a 360 degree circle. He was literally mowing them down like they were grass. The leader quickly jumped in and grabbed Cain’s attention, giving his lackies better chances to strike. Cain was now extremely pressured, he had to fend off the leader while also watching his back for sneak attacks.

This leader had the metal zone gene, it let him control metal near him, hence why he chose this old metallic warehouse as his battlegrounds. He was covered in a metal armor giving Cain no chance to strike, even with his time stop ability. This was the first time he had no cards left other than his own strength, but he also felt himself improving faster than he ever has before. Had he not had his slow sphere, he would of died a long time ago, it let him react to everything around him much better.

Cain had to come up with a battle plan quick or this may be the last battle of his career. Cain looked around the storehouse, and suddenly noticed the roof was riddled with holes. He crouched down and loaded all his power into his legs before shooting up. He flew through the hole in the ceiling and used the momentum to crash back down into the roof. The warehouse was already old and badly maintained, so the sudden weight sent it crashing down.

All of this happened so quickly that no had time to properly react, they crushed under the weight of the roof, but with their bodies it wasn’t a problem. Cain wasn’t aiming to kill them however, he just wanted an opportunity to escape, and he already had it. Cain’s body flitted into the night and disappeared under the tremendous rage of the gang leader.

Naturally Cain wasn’t going to let this slide, but he didn’t plan on fighting a losing battle. He would come back to finish what he started once he was a bit stronger. Cain found a cave in the woods and set up camp. He was checking his body and saw numerous different stab wounds, even though he managed to avoid most of the lackies attacks, some got through. He was already extremely injured and it took all his energy to make it this far.

Cain opened his storage device and chugged a few of healing elixirs he had prepared beforehand, however his deeper wounds couldn’t be handled so easily. Even though this fight was high risk he felt himself progress a lot, he opened his stat menu to see his improvements.
