The next day the grades were posted on a board in the lobby, they were split into their selective ranks and then places based on the grade itself. Cain and George decided to head there together to check their results. They started with the D rank board just in case.
“43rd place - D rank: … “
“42th place - D rank: … “
Quickly they reached first place but didn’t see their names, next they moved to C rank, and did not see their names there either. Then B rank, George started getting nervous, he was praying his name wasn’t here, eventually they reached the top of the list and didn’t see either of their names, finally it was time to check A rank.
“6th place - A rank: George Ekker - 80%”
“YESSSSSSS”
Georges excited roar nearly blew Cain’s eardrums out, he managed to make it on the list by a single mark, even though 6th was last place in the prestigious A rank, it still offered far better opportunities compared to A rank.
“I nearly forgot about you Cain, you’re name hasn’t shown up yet, so you’re also in A rank. I just wonder what place you got”
“5th place - A rank: William Vaga - 83% ”
“4th place - A rank: Lilith Vaga - 85%”
“3rd place - A rank: Theo Oberman - 90%”
“2nd place - A rank: Graxi Foy - 93%”
Stolen novel; please report.
“1st place - A rank: Cain Crimson - 100%”
Cain was shocked when he saw the result, he felt like he had done well, but not this well. He always had good grades in the past, but he subconsciously felt like grades were pointless if he couldn’t become a genetic warrior hence they started slipping. He also spent all his time training and none studying and despite all that his grades were still above average. The day he awoke his gene, his confidence has skyrocketed, and gene research was a career that already aligned with his passion making him enjoy it even more. He didn’t even realize how talented he was until now, but the proof is in the pudding.
Him gaining enlightenment while making that legendary grade gene had also helped him a lot in gaining his current mark. George’s jaw almost fell off his face when he saw Cain’s result
“What the heck Cain, I thought you were a combat maniac, but it turns out you’re a genetic researching maniac as well. The world really isn’t fair.”
“What are you complaining about, you also got into A rank, be proud of yourself”
“Pfft, I was proud of myself until I saw your mark, now I’m not sure how to feel about myself. Whatever, I’m a romantic anyways and I beat you in getting a girlfriend first, so you can have this tiny win for yourself”
Cain and George were laughing as they were arguing among themselves, but before they could continue their conversation a young man walked up to them.
“Hello fellow A rank students, I am Theo Oberman, I hope we can get a long in the future”
“Uhh, sure thing pal, nice to meet you”
Cain and George felt a little creeped out by how this person talked. He was like a machine and everyone of his actions felt calculated in advance.
“Don’t worry about Theo, he's a bookworm and doesn’t know how to interact properly so he speaks a little strangely. I’m Lilith, I’ll be your new classmate as well, I hope we can get along in the future”
Lilith was the opposite of Theo, she was full of energy and extremely chatty, constantly asking questions and hopping around, before she could keep going on a fist hit her in the head, freezing her in place. A young man that looked like a male version of Lilith was standing behind her, staring at her with dagger eyes.
“Please forgive my sister Lillith for her poor behaviour, the only reason I put up with her is due to her decent grades. She truly puts the Vaga clan to shame”
“Heh, I’m just trying to get along with our new classmates William. Stop being so lame”
Cain felt like this was going to be a long year with all these interesting characters joining the same classroom. He felt like the odd man out due to how normal he was in comparison to them. The only one who wasn’t talking was Graxi, who seemed to disdain the rest of the class.
“Don’t let Graxi Nasty affect you, she’s just sour that she didn’t get first place”
“DON’T CALL ME GRAXI NASTY”
