Durren led Cain to an old building, this was the place where the greenwood faction resided.
“Let me introduce you to everyone Cain. This is Lefric, our leader, Nabar who’s in charge of scouting, and this is Aliz, she's in charge of healing. Factions work best by having team members whose gene fulfill a different purpose. Like my gene is defense based so I’m the vanguard, and Lefric has a strength based gene so he's our offense. You’ve got speed so you’d be a nice fit into our group”
Cain only now realized that factions worked like this. It made sense to him though. A person couldn’t have too many genes at once, so having a team where each person fills a different role will increase your efficiency tremendously.
“Nice to meet you Cain. I saw your performance and you really impressed us”
Lefric as the leader was outgoing and greeted Cain first. He seemed enthusiastic that Cain had joined their group.
“Our faction was in need of someone like you brother Cain. The Flame Rebel Faction was starting problems with us recently, and were in need of your help.”
“You’re new at the school Cain, so you wouldn’t know about this, but the Flame Rebel Faction is our rival. Recently they’ve managed to recruit a decently talented student, and using this momentum they started suppressing us”
Nabar pitched in at this moment, telling Cain about the situation.
“I hate those Flame Rebel Faction people, they are so obnoxious. Just because they have a somewhat talented new recruit, they think they can step all over us.”
Aliz spoke. despite her role as the groups healer, she seemed very hotheaded.

“Now that we have you, we can finally request a rematch faction fight. They beat us in the past but this time we can get revenge”
Cain was confused with everything that was happening. He had only just recently learned that factions were a thing and he somehow already got dragged into a fight. He shook his head, since he had already come this far, he might as well help them. Also when Durren was willing to take a beating to help him, it made Cain’s respect for this group go up tremendously. They were clearly a very close group, who would tide through anything together. It wasn’t bad having friends like these.
“You guys should have seen what Cain did to Serlon’s group. He cut up their clothing leaving them half naked, they didn't even see him coming. I’m thinking we should replicate that to teach those Flame Rebel people a real lesson.”
Durren let out an evil laugh as he stated his plan. Cain suddenly felt like these people weren’t so innocent after all.
“He really did that to Serlon’s group. We are in for some trouble now. You can’t humiliate a dog without considering who its owner is, Lambard won’t take this lying down”
Lefric was much more mature than Durren, so he instantly saw the problem here.
“Luckily Lambard won’t be bothered to waste his time on, so he’ll only send some lackies at best. You might have to apologize to Lambard, Cain, that's the easiest way to solve this”
“They try to humiliate me and now I have to apologize? I’m afraid I don’t live in such a perfect world. If they want to trouble, then they can come here and get it”
“Cain you’re still new to the sect so you don't understand. The outer sect is essentially ruled by the top 10 disciples, what they say goes. Even if you can beat off the lackeys, Lambard himself will eventually come. He's a tier 2 genetic general with the sun body gene, that gene is extremely powerful, that's why Lambard has managed to make his way to the top 10.
Once someone reaches the Genetic General level, the tier of the gene wasn’t very important. The most important aspect was the gene’s ability itself. The sun body gene turns someone into a miniature star, making their strength raise tremendously. It’s one of the most well known class 2 gene and could easily destroy other genes of the same class.
Cain wasn’t worried however, every gene had a weakness, and part of being a genetic warrior was minimizing your weakness and maximizing your strengths. Now that he knew Lambard’s ability he already had an edge since he could come up with counter strategies. Cain knew he couldn’t beat someone with strong defense, but he wasn’t afraid of someone with strong power.
“No worries, I’ll deal with things as they come, no point worrying about it now”
Lefric shook his head hearing Cain’s words. He felt like he didn’t understand how strong Lambard was. He wasn’t someone their small faction could deal with.
“Alright, let's not nag Cain anymore. It’s time to start practicing, the Flame Rebel Faction won’t see us coming”
Just like that, Cain’s journey in the greenwood faction began.
