He spent the next month training in solitude. Oldman Belmon would occasionally chime in and tell him how he could improve. Just like that, the day of the battle was already upon them. Cain exited his house, however he seemed very different them he was a month ago. His aura was sharp and heavy, and just looking at him would give weak disciples a stabbing sensation in their eyes.
The entire outer sect was jumping around in excitement. It had been a long time since a disciples ranked in the top 10 was challenged, and this fight was set to take place in front of the entire outer court, meaning everyone could spectate. People were gathering around, some had snacks and drinks, others were making bets. Naturally the odds in Cain’s favor were miniscule, going at 1:100.
Cain wasn’t going to waste this chance to make some easy contribution points, so he put his entire 50k savings in at one go. He wasn’t planning on losing this fight so naturally he wasn’t worried that he’d lose everything.
“Kid, you are a lot stronger than you were in the past. Just the first layer of the Nine Strike Spear Technique is enough to raise your strength massively. Looks like we’ll be heading to the Divine Mountain soon”
“Who knows. Lambard should be quite strong if he was capable of holding onto the top 10 for so long, maybe he has a trump card”
Cain first headed to the Greenwood Faction house. He noticed that they were all somewhat jittery, like it was them about to go to battle and not him.
“Cain, you’re aura seems a lot stronger than it did in the past. Seems like Lambard won’t even be your match anymore”
“Yeah! You guys this is a perfect chance for us to make it rich. The odds of Cain winning are 1 to 100, so we can’t waste it”
Aliz was salivating at the idea of suddenly becoming rich. Hearing her words, the rest of the group decided to support Cain by betting in his favor. After that they headed towards the arena. The arena was located in the heart of the outer court, and this was usually where all the main events were held. People had already gathered around however the two main competitors were nowhere to be seen.

Cain left behind his group and pushed towards the center. He hopped onto the stage and the entire area that was loud with talking suddenly went silent. Pictures of Cain had already spread around so people knew what he looked like
“Look, Cain is already here. I’m kind of surprised. If I was him I would have left the sect a long time ago and found somewhere to hide”
“Yeah me too. Lambard isn’t someone we regular people can mess with. Cain has amazing speed, but speed isn’t enough, you need power too”
“He should have used that speed to run far away”
The crowd burst into laughter hearing that young man's comment. They naturally didn’t hold Cain in high regard. He had only been in the sect for a few months whereas Lambard had been here for years, and his name was already well known among the disciples.
“Kid, don't let the words get to you. Those little bastards talk big, but they wouldn’t dare to say any of that stuff to your face”
“No worries, after I defeat Lambard they will naturally change their opinions”
As Cain was talking to Oldman Belmon, he noticed that the heat in the area raised suddenly, a thin tanned man was walking towards the arena. Anyone close to him would break out into a sweat and their skin would turn red from the heat. They all moved out of his way as fast as their legs could take them, letting him access the arena with ease.
The young man was like a small star, giving off endless amounts of heat and light.
“You must be Cain. To think a newbie fresh to the sect would actually dare challenge me. Clearly I haven't been active enough recently, so people have forgotten about me. I have to thank you Cain, you’re giving me a perfect opportunity to remind people that I’m not someone any dog or cat can mess with”
“Words are empty. Let’s find out who the real dog is with our fists”
“Fine, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Let me show you my real strength”
Lambard suddenly exploded. The heat and light that was coming off him multiplied endlessly, making him combust into a man made of flames. Everyone spectating the fight had to back off, because the heat was threatening to burn them to death. Lambard had become a mini star, giving off infinite heat.
He rocketed towards Cain, the stone under his feet was charred black, and would have turned to dust had it not been specialized designed for high power fights like these. Lambard swung his halberd at Cain with full power, the halberd sent off a wave of heat that made the water vapor in the air directly turn to steam. Cain successfully blocked off the attack with his spear, but he realized that this fight may be a bit harder than he anticipated.
