Chapter 8

A few days passed and we have been absolutely thriving.

Duo groups of arachnids have been going on hunting trips with the excuse of "gathering food", but honestly, they just look for something to do. It has been rather boring.

The striders seem to have no problem of sitting around and doing nothing.

Like, you see that one? The one in the corner.

He hasn't moved since we came here, not one bit.

In three to two days our chitting should harden and then we will need to shed daily.

The sentient that calls this place home is quite oblivios. Like, how did it not notice all that sound we've been making.

----------------------------------------

I have been hearing a lot of sounds recently but decided to ignore it, why? Well nothing really changed so I don't mind if some poor criter finds shelter here, I just hope that doesn't have any diseas.

----------------------------------------

Especially after I widened the opening in the ceiling to allow the steadily growing arachnids to go hunting. I know that I could command them not to but that will probably end with me being mauled to death by immature arachnids.

After first arriving here I wanted to kill the sentient and giving up because we are just to weak. But after spending so much time with thinker (Dimitriv) I now realise that there are more "hindrances" to that. Which are... I didn't bother memorising them but basically: DON'T TOUCH IT.

Our last talk literally ended like that.

Well I might have also gottenalittelebitangry.

I look over to him and see how his new scar made its home in his face.

Dimitrivs thoughts on that: that guy really has a short temper and also OWWW

I really am trigger happy.

He has been rather distant after that, understandably.

I let out a sigh, without anyoune to talk to I have been rather lonely, then turn my attention to the next hunting party.

The biggest arachnid who had a pained expression came back with some rodent straped to her carapace. And after her came an arachnid which seems to never lose her grin with chunks of white flesh straped to her carapace.

How did she kill something that has white meat? Honestly having an arachnid that is capable of doing that is a rather good sign.

The bigger arachnid freed the dead rodent and simply threw it to the closest group of striders, she is surprisingly good at throwing.

Said striders immediately rushed over to the kill and started feasting without second thought. As if, they aren't even hungry!

Then the second arachnid offered me an pitch black eye, the eye of a bird of some kind. Still unsure how she killed it.

"Thank you"

I thanked her in a soft woice.

"No need, you leader, you deserve"

I frowned at that. First she can say more at once than any one else from us, did she practice? And second the way she said leader, something is going on.

The bigger arachnid gave both of us a sharp look. To which the grin of the other arachnid grew.

I looked down to the eye I am holding and swallowed it whole, which I was able to do since eyes are just so squishy.

My throat felt a bit rough but nothing to bad, it actually had a nice taste to it.

"Thank you, Mallia"

I decided to name her after malice because of the grin she always has.

Both looked at me with wide eyes and dumbfounded faces. Without any hesitation Mallia rushed over to me and grabbed all four of my hands. Then without any time to react it turned into a full hearted hug, it wasn't a thight hug but I decided to let her have it.

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile

I should have known that he would react like that.

I rubbed the scar that rudely claims my face as its home.

Eh nothing to bad as a strider it will be gone after my first shedding, how does it even feel like to shed? I experimented allot with such things in the past but never experienced it my self.

Oh great, now I have the same feeling as when I went on my first date, I mean I almost lost an arm.

I look over to the boss man and am surprised to see that he is hugging an arachnid. He isn't the kind to let that just slide, my face is proof.

There is also that one intimidating arachnid who slowly started to walk away, putting an eye in her mouth with an annoyed look.

Ah right, mating season.

The striders might be oblivios to it but the arachnids seem to already prepare.

And with prepare I mean getting the one who will have the biggest influence by then.

I'm lucky that there are more striders than arachnids, then it won't be that suspicious that I stay a virgin. Since striders can live they're entire lives without having a mate.

But if there were more arachnids than striders it would have been...."troublesome".

If there are striders then arachnids will always find a mate.

That's why every batch has atleast one strider, reall unlucky to be him.

Back when I first realised that I was a strider I panicked that I would be the "forced mate".

Then the intimidating arachnid pulled out another eye. I am quite joyfull that the spiderkin are so good at storing things with they're silk bags.

Wait, is she walking towards me?

Oh yeah right, I hold influence.

Dam, how do I get out of this?

WAIT I have an idea! If I get her together with the boss man, who I should really get used to addres Komutzu. Then there shouldn't be any reason for her to be with me.

But how to do it?

Ah, she's already here. Dam.
