We finally found shelter, though we're not alone.
A sentient also seems to call this place its home.
I and the other arachnids were ready to attack it and feast on its flesh, but the alpha strider was against attacking.
At first he also wanted to kill it but there seems to be a few problems.
First, it's huge we probably don't have enough venom to kill it.
Second, we don't know how strong, fast or smart it is. For all we know it might have set up a trap and is just waiting for us to walk right into it.
Third, we have a strider as a leader so we will get a lot of attention. Showing ourselves as hostile will bring that attention from wrong places.
Or at least thats all I could think of.
This place is bigger inside than outside which I don't really understand but I don't understand a lot of things so meh.
The sentient yet has to notice us so we have been thriving. The other half of the batch also found they're way out of the cave but they were noticed by the sentient which they avoided, so they're somewhere out there in the wilderness.
I'm not sure how long it has been since we arrived here but after a long rest we developed enough to make two word sentences which makes a lot of things easier.
I watch the first sunrise my eyes ever witnessed until the sky started to take a blue hue. I then made my way towards the alpha strider who seems to be in a talk with his follower.
They didn't notice me even after I came into hearing range.
"Day, hide"
Sayd the follower in a slim voice.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Night, hunt"
The alpha finished with a stirn voice.
"Dusk?"
I ask with a curious voice.
The alpha looked a bit surprised at my question but then had a face deep in thought. He looks over to his follower, who's smile did not change even after my question.
"Dusk, prepare."
He said with the same smile he always has.
"Prepare, what?"
I ask with a hint of doubt.
"Everything"
The alpha said with a strong voice.
Ah.
I guess there's a reason why he's the leader.
He's wiser than me and that makes him a better leader than me.
I gave the leader a light bow and wanted to leave when an idea came into my mind.
"Name?"
I asked with genuine curiosity and a hint of malice, if he doesn't have one I could maybe name him, which would put me above all the other arachnids.
"Komutzu"
He said in the same voice one would say that the Sun is bright. His follower also looked surprised which is to be expected however my face stayed the same a turned to leave.
After I reached the corner I claimed as my own and sat down, I didn't rest for long so I'm still tired.
But before I could drift into sweat sleep an arachnid approached me. She Probably heard my talk with Komutzu.
"Komutzu"
She said with a light smile.
My gaze narrowed as I stood to my full height, I'm the tallest from all of us so I'm not hesitant with threats.
Her smile grew and so did my frown.
"Trust, him?"
She said while pointing towards me, not a question but a taunt.
"Follow, him?"
She started to come closer towards me and I started to show my fangs. We're not wearing armor so my bite should be devastating.
She stopped and looked into the direction Komutzu is, her smile became a grin a big one at that.
"Want, him?"
That's it, I charged towards but she leapt away before I could reach her. She giggled and went into the direction she came from.
Before she left she pointed at me and said.
"Not alone"
She said those words in quick succession which probably hurt her a bit.
She left before I could say anything. I was left as a fool further proving that Komutzu who is wiser and more patient than me, which makes him a better leader.
A let out a sharp breath in a month or so it will be mating season and there's already scenarios like this.
Just how will the striders be in the time we stay here?
----------------------------------------
Meanwhil the striders
This is quite nice.
It really was a good idea to follow the strider, the other half of the batch has to go through the wilderness while we have good shelter.
We're drie warm and feed all thanks to our leader.
But we know that we can't stay forever, we will have grow to big to stay unnoticed in bout 4-5 days. We can stay maybe a few days more if we kill the sentient.
But thinking of such thinks are for leaders, we're no leaders we follow them and be the strength behind they're words.
After all, hell was forged by mortal hands.
