Chapter 13

A neon yellow web between two of my hands. Ever since that dream my anima control lead worlds of progress. Thinker said something about a unique 'metabolism', apparently a good thing, I will kill him if he lied to me.

Of course I tested it out on trees, or atleast I wanted to I'm not allowed to go outside. Of course I ignored Thinkers warning but Freya carried me back in. And it's a lot slower than in the dream. Don't get me wrong I can now absentmindly make streams, but to 'weave' a permanent effect is quite difficult.

My hands covered in white soft chitting, it will take some time to harden.

Now

What should I first do with my anima? As a leader I should focus on things that benefit all of us. Communication is a low priority because our strings allow short distance messages, well except if it's raining, maybe I could make strings waterproof?

But I'm sure Thinker can find a solution to it aswell, maybe even a more efficient method. I could enhance my venom, but why? If the arachnids can't deal with something it probably is armored and fangs won't really do much, besides the streams of anima in my body constantly enhancing it. Perhaps I could give it another effect like sleep paralysis, I'm saying sleep paralysis because there's no antidote to it. But one can simply wake up once they notice what's going on. My stamina, yes it would be wise to enhance it, but I'm not wise.

In the end: I have no idea what to do with it

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile

Ever since that nightmare my mana control has been on the next stage. I can even use elements now!

A web of blue lightning was hovering between my two lower hands, of course I tested it out on trees what else would I do with it.

Ah

That's fire

A big fire

A BIG big fire

Well, time to run

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile

I know I'm not meant to help them but can you blame me? The greatest bodyli potential and the greatest magical talent I have ever seen from one's of their age, so of course I had to guide them!

What really surprised me though is that Komutzu recognised me.

Well sometimes it happens that arachnids raise promising hatchlings so what I'm doing is rather mild.

I look up into the night sky.

The stars, they're boring.

----------------------------------------

I found something

Or more like someone.

A lamian.

A cruel smile formed on my face, for I know all the things a batch of lamians could bring to the swarm and to me. With all the knowledge I have this would be a massive boon.

Ah, she's gone.

Yes, catching them is the hard part.

----------------------------------------

A sunny place a sunny place

Trees aren't sunny and neither is a nest of silk, everything else is not safe enough. But then I saw it.

A massive lake with crystal clear water, it's so clear that it doesn't even reflect the light. No, that's not normal could be dangerous. The leader has too hear of this!

But then the water changed as if it always was a normal lake and for further convincing a fish jumped out of the water in a perfect arch, no this isn't normal.

There was this feeling like something doesn't belong, this lake doesn't belong! And why am I calm? Shouldn't I panic hurriedly run back to the others? So why am I walking to the lake?

There's something in the water.

----------------------------------------

> Four hours later

I was still weaving the anima into random shapes until all of the sudden a memory came into mind. The last moment before I fell uncautios.

"Beautiful"

Mt whole body became tense and I froze in place, why? What was going through my head at that moment, its just that I saw her and sayd what was on my mind.

My thoughts were cut short by a call from outside. Something is going on.

I rush out only to be stopped by Freya.

"Wait" was all she said.

----------------------------------------

Komutzu tried to rush outside but I knew it would be better if he stayed inside.

I told him to wait and went to check it out myself, what I saw was something. It was a serpent spirit of a lake or water or a river or something. I'm not sure if I should be worried or relieved but it's dead, right now it looks like a common viper. But I, no, all of us can feel it. I look up too the one that probably killed it, a heavily wounded strider who is out of breath.

"The leader."

I thought about it for a moment and decided.

"Treat your wounds, I will take this to the leader."

He nodded and hurried of, he's probably in pain. I pick up the thing it's about two feet long, I know it's length means something but I not sure what. It's age? Power? It's Kin? I don't know.

I walked back into Komutzu's nest.

Yep, that's the reaction I expected.

----------------------------------------

One, two and where's the third one?

I hear a hiss from the side and the moment I look a handful of mud hits my face, effectively blinding me.

"YOU LITTLE BRAT!"

I made sure to yell in the language I know she understands. Goddammit, I never really tried to catch lamians before but since when do they have pack tactics!

I guess they're just smart.

----------------------------------------

The fire's getting closer.

Not good

NOT GOOD

This is no time to panic we have to get out of this!

Forgotten memories of old fire scratch at the back of my mind.

Nows not the time!

----------------------------------------

What Freya brought from the outside is certainly something.

The anima around the dying spirit had a lying shade to it and had a cloud hovering over it so dark it is only found it could only be found at the bottom of a lake.

Hm yes that's an idea.

I weaved the anima web into the shape of the serpent but not all of it. With a strong stream of anima the serpents aura was covered by my poison yellow.

Now to change the spirit itself. I started to sweat.

Replace the scales with plates of chitting, spider legs started to form all along its entire body length.

Yes a centipede, the first being I ever attacked.

No need for feelers it can use its soul sight. I don't need a liar so we can get rid of the 'lure' instead I feed it to it's darkness. The spirit wasn't a being of water but of darkness and now it still is.

I ran out of all the prepared anima I had and then opened my eyes. The little snake is now a five feet long centipede that can turn almost invisible in the shadows and during the night it would truly bloom.

I look up to be meet with Freyas worried look

"Komutzu, its been hours."
