Chapter 24: The core guardian
In the dungeon, tenth floor.
Lucas had stopped observing the challengers after they defeated the lesser champion monster elder flame salamander as he had levelled up when the elder flame salamander was killed so he decided to once again focus on making new floors instead of observing the challengers.
[Ding, congratulations to the host for levelling up to level 8]
[The host has obtained 3 skill points and the floor limit has been increased to 12 and a new elemental specialisation has now become available.]
“Alright let's see what new elemental specialisation options i have” said Lucas.
[Please choose any one elemental specialisation:
Earth and fire specialisation:
This specialisation will not remove the current elemental specialisation and instead empower the current one.
The benefits are as follows:
Acquisition of the passive skill earth affinity.
levelling up of the passive skill fire affinity from lvl 1 to lvl 2.
Acquisition of the passive skill metal affinity lvl 0 due to the host obtaining both earth and fire affinities.
Gaining access to a unique metal type monster.
Wind and water specialisation:
This specialisation will not remove the current elemental specialisation and instead empower the current one.
The benefits are as follows:
Acquisition of the passive skill wind affinity.
Levelling up of the passive skill water affinity from lvl 1 to lvl 2.
Acquisition of the passive skill ice affinity lvl 0 due to the host obtaining both wind and water affinities.
Gaining access to a unique ice type monster.
Additional info is being displayed:
A skill is only lvl 0 when it is not acquired through the system but instead by the host naturally because of which these skills can be improved by training instead of using skill points to level it up though using skill points to level it up takes away these skills growth ability. ]
“Oh that's the first time the system voluntarily showed me additional information, does this mean that the system is slowly evolving as I level up?” wondered Lucas though he did come out of his train of thought as he focused on choosing which elemental specialisation he should choose.
Then after quite a while of pondering he decided to go with the Wind and water specialisation this time instead of the Earth and fire specialisation.
[Ding, the Wind and water elemental specialisation has been chosen as the host's new elemental specialisation.]
[Ding, due to the benefits of the new elemental specialisation the passive skill water affinity has been levelled up from lvl 1 to lvl 2.]
[Water affinity lvl 2
This passive skill decreases the cost of making and repawning water type monsters by 50% and due to the host being in possession of the ######system. This skill also grants the host's human body total mastery over intermediate water magic.]
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
[Ding, the host has obtained wind affinity due to the benefits of the new elemental specialisation.]
[Wind affinity lvl 1
This passive skill decreases the cost of making and repawning water type monsters by 50% and due to the host being in possession of the ######system. This skill also grants the host's human body total mastery over basic wind magic.]
[Ding, the host has obtained ice affinity due to being in possession of both wind and water affinities.]
[Ice affinity lvl 0 (can be upgraded by training)
This passive skill allows the host access to ice type monsters and elemental plants and due to the host being in possession of the #####system. This skill also grants the host's human body access to basic ice magic.]
“woah man the system has really changed a lot!. To think it's doing so many things to help me on its own without me having to first ask it for help.” said Lucas who was very surprised by how much the system had gotten better while he hadn't been noticing.
“Alright then let's start making the first floor shall we.” said Lucas before starting to activate his floor designation skill to designate the eleventh floor.
But just as he was about to designate the eleventh floor he was interrupted by a sudden system message.
[Ding, the system has detected that one unused absolute law is available for the tenth floor but it can't be used due to the unique chained absolute law.]
[Taking these problems into account the system has taken an independent action of rerouting the power of the one unused absolute law to summon a mythical monster to serve as the dungeon core's core guardian due to noticing that the host's dungeon core lacked a core guardian.]
[Additional info has been revealed by the system. A core guardian is the strongest monster in the entire dungeon which the dungeon core can summon for every 100 floors that it possesses, thus a dungeon core can only have one core guardian till it reaches 100+ floors and unlocks the second core guardian.]
[Host do you approve of this power rerouting to summon a core guardian?
Yes or no]
“huh the system can act independently, I always thought that it only followed my orders but was I wrong in thinking that?” Lucas seriously started to think of the consequences of this new discovery.
“Hmm if the system can really do whatever it wants then I am seriously screwed if it wants to kill me or get rid of me.” said Lucas with fear before slowly starting to get back his calm.
“Wait I don't need to panic because even though it looks like the system can do whatever it wants, for some reason everything it did until now was to help me then I can assume that the system is my Ally right now at least it is.” said Lucas.
“Yes I don't need to worry about dying because if the system had meant me harm then I would have long been dead so let's just relax and calm down.” said Lucas as he calmed down and started to consider this option which the system was giving him.
“Hmm it doesn't look like there's anything to lose if i choose yes as I would instead greatly benefit from it as having a mythical creature as my core guardian would make it harder for the challengers to reach me and the core guardian and it would also serve as backup when some challengers really manages to conquer all the floors.” said Lucas as he chose yes.
[Ding, the core guardian summoning process has begun, opening the dimensional portal.]
As the system message appeared, so did a portal made of immense amounts of mana and some other kind of energy was also mixed in the energy powering the dimensional portal.
Then after a few seconds a massive creature started to come through the portal which wouldn't have fit in the dungeon if it weren't for the dungeon space skill increasing the space in the core room by a hundred times.
The creature which was trying to come through even had to somehow shrink its size before it finally managed to fit through the portal.
Then as the creature finished passing through the portal the portal closed up behind it and only when the portal fully closed could he take a closer look at this new guest he had.
The creature which had come through the portal had somehow used some skill to become a human gentleman. The creature had a beautiful mix of gold and silver hair and he was also extremely handsome and the creature was currently wearing what could only be a tuxedo which didn't really fit the fantasy world he thought he was in and he also had a top hat and a beautifully crafted walking stick.
[Hmm young core are you the one who summoned me to this realm.]
Then as the creature started to speak, even the mere words which left his mouth carried enough pressure to cause the air around the creature to tremble and when Lucas saw and felt this every sense in his body and his mind was screaming extreme danger from the creature looking like a gentleman.
“Ah I forgot you are too weak to hear my true voice, so do forgive me but I still wish to know are you the one who summoned me to this realm.” said the gentleman who spoke normally this time.
“Uh.. well I am not the exact person who called you but it was still me who caused you to come here if I am not wrong.” said Lucas hesitantly as he still clearly remembered that power which the gentleman-like creature had released a moment ago.
“Um if it's not too rude can I ask you to wait a bit? I need to talk with what might be the one which directly summoned you here.” asked Lucas still hesitantly.
“Oh that's fine, take your time I don't mind a little wait.” said the gentleman-like creature.
Then Lucas decided to start a Q&A session with the system to understand what the fucking hell was happening right now.
