***** Vol.4 Chap.49 Assault on Headquarters *****
After Johan left, JB was as befuddled as ever vacillating between being clear and being confused.
Using her key card, she went to the lunch room and got herself a cup of coffee. The freezer stocked with gourmet meals was no more there. Glancing at the canteen, there was just the usual chef salad. Not having any appetite at her current state of mind, she got a cup of coffee and headed back to her prison cell. She needed to clear her brain.
She was almost at the door to her room.
Boom! It sounded like someone shot a missile at the compound.
Quickly she tried every door within site. The only door she could open was her own prison cell. She darted into her room. While closing the door, she thought she heard some siren sounded in the distance.
What is going on?
More explosions! They were getting closer and closer. She heard angry shouting and gunfire.
She opened her room door and tried her keycard on other doors.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
No access.
Resigned, she went back to her cell and hid under the bed.
Another explosion. Much closer this time.
Curious, she tried to open the door but the door would not budge.
This is not good. I am trapped.
More explosions.
Suddenly, her prison door opened on its own. It seemed the security system had been compromised.
She darted out of her cell in no time but was at a loss where to go?
She vaguely remembered Johan leading her to the conference room. As best as she remembered, she tried any open doors and ran down any corridors.
It seemed the compound was crumbling into shambles. Debris were everywhere blocking many corridors. She had to keep double backing to find new paths.
“There she is!” Someone shouted.
“Dr. Smith! Dr. Smith! This is Joe and George.”
She stopped at her tracks.
“We came to find you.” Joe shouted.
“We are here to protect you!” George added.
As she turned around, she saw Joe and George waving at her.
“How did you find me?”
“You had a trace on you that helped lead us to the GL headquarters.”
“A trace?”
“Come quickly! We know the way out.”
JB started to run to them.
Suddenly, a door opened and Johan came out spraying bullets at the two agents. JB was caught in the cross fire and fell instantly.
After the two agents fell, Johan though hurt, pulled her into the room. He felt her pulse but could barely detected any.
There were tears in his eyes.
He heard more agents coming down the corridor. With the last bullet, he pointed the gun at his own head and pulled the trigger.
But he did not see a giant bubble that materialized in the room, engulfed his prisoner, and disappeared.
The door burst open.
“Here is Dr. Schmidtiz, but no Dr. Smith.”
“Let’s go search in the next room.”
