Chapter 7
After dinner, Ezekiel saw that his brothers were sleepy so he stored the uneaten chicken and the remaining milk in the carton box in the 4th tab of his system browser, which was his inventory, and cleaned the plates using Prestidigitation after stacking them.
After that, he cleaned the worn-out bed sheet and thin pillows using the same spell but before he did Ezekiel replaced all the Fire Bolt Spell in the cantrip slots so he could cast the spell thrice every minute. He wished that he could increase the area of effect of the spell since 1 cubic foot was too tiny but right now, his spell was following the rule stated on the DnD Wizard Spell List web page strictly and the only difference that he found so far was the nerfing of Healing Elixir’s duration.
To be honest, Ezekiel found the major changes his system had done to the DnD system kind of offensive since it was greatly different. Where were the attributes? Where were the feats? And there was a lot more that would cause DnD fans to curse and cry.
Then again he didn’t condemn his system. He was actually thankful since any system was better than no system at all.
At least the Spell List was extensive and included the optional spells but it was unfortunate that it stopped at level 9 since it was following the 5th edition, although very roughly.
Ezekiel then cleaned the bed sheet, pillows, Robert and Luke’s clothes, and their bodies as well and then heated the bed. Then he tucked in his brothers. Before they slept, he read them a fairy tale story from the internet but after a few minutes, the boys were asleep. He was glad to see that the boys had smiles on their faces while they were sleeping. While watching his brothers sleep, he knew then that the two boys had permanently etched a spot in his heart. It could be a lingering desire from the dead “Kid” to make sure that his siblings were taken care of but it didn’t matter. The children were innocent including the previous owner of his body and he condemned the villagers for allowing these children to reach this state.
Once he had earned enough coins and knew that they could survive or even thrive on the road, he would leave this village and never look back. If for some reason this village fell because of a beast tide if there were any in this world or pandemic or anything else for that matter, he wouldn’t care at all.
Since he wasn’t too tired, Ezekiel decided to read every detail that he could find in the browser system when it came to his magic since that was the only one that could truly help him in this world. He did notice the experience bar and a fifth of it was filled already. He didn’t know where exactly the experience came from since the only thing that he killed was the pheasant and based on the rule that he’d read about earning experience, it could only come from achievements and enemies that intended to harm him and the pheasant clearly wasn’t intending to harm him. The bird probably didn’t know he was there when it died. That meant that it could only come from an achievement but he didn’t know what achievement since he didn’t see any chat log that stated where the experience came from.
If this was a game and Ezekiel was playing it, he would have listed a lot of things that needed to be improved on but alas, if there were going to be changes in the system he could only await them passively.
After about an hour of extensive reading, he decided to sleep but of course, he blew out the candle first.
Ezekiel was woken up by his brothers the next day. When he checked the time in his browser, it was only around 5 in the morning. They did sleep early but it couldn’t be helped since everyone was exhausted the day before due to a lot of things that happened.
“Brother, you’re awake! What are we going to do today?” Robert asked.
“The three of us are going to go to the forest to hunt an animal using my magic. I’m going to let you come with me since I don’t want us to be separated again,” Ezekiel answered.

At first, Robert looked worried but when Ezekiel told him he would let him and Luke accompany him, he cheered up.
He planned to spend the morning in the forest together with his two brothers but just nearby to try to find an animal that he could kill and sell and to check if that would increase his experience bar.
First, he made three chicken sandwiches using the remaining chicken from last night and bread then he poured milk into their cups. He then cast Prestidigitation on their milk so it would taste like chocolate milk. After their fulfilling breakfast, Ezekiel told his siblings to go to the toilet first to try and relieve themselves since it would be difficult to do so in the forest but he followed them to the toilet which was a simple outhouse that his predecessor made.
He removed the boys’ clothes since they were brand new and then asked them to try to pee and poop. He cleaned the outhouse first using his Prestidigitation cantrip and after several minutes the outhouse was clean and then he asked the boys to use it.
After the boys’ were done, he made sure that the boys were thoroughly clean using his spell before dressing them again with their new clothes then he did his business as well. The three then prepared themselves to go to the forest.
Ezekiel replaced two of the slots in the cantrip section that contained the Prestidigitation spell with Fire Bolt so now he had 3 Fire Bolt and 1 Prestidigitation. 1 of the Fire Bolt was more powerful since it was slotted on the 1st level spell slot and the modified rule stated that it was that any spell slotted above their level would be 20 percent more powerful. He shook his head about that since he didn’t know where his system pulled that modification from. It was a bit unfortunate that higher-level spells couldn’t be slotted into the lower-level slots.
The only thing that Ezekiel brought with him from their shack was the knife but he stored it in his fourth tab.
“What are we going to hunt?” Robert asked.
“Anything that we could trade in the market. My magic will let me conjure a lot of things. Wonderful, magical things but I will need to pay using coins to do that.”
“Have you seen any magical creatures in the forest like goblins or elves?” Ezekiel asked his brother while Luke followed them innocently.
Ezekiel wished he could carry Luke in his arms but he was so weak that he wouldn’t be able to even though Luke was so small and light.
“What are goblins? Or Elves?” Robert asked.
That answered Ezekiel’s questions since if they had been living in the outskirts of the village near the forest, if they hadn’t seen any goblins if there were any in this world, they would have already seen it. He wondered if there were goblins in this forest but were called something else. He could continue asking his brother but he didn’t want to burden the boy anymore.
Ezekiel was so glad that he didn’t have to worry about getting lost since his browser map would allow him to know where he was.
After around an hour of walking, they saw a small boar in the distance but compared to the three boys, the board was huge. When the boar saw the three small boys, it became aggressive and ran towards them.
Robert and Luke got so scared that they ran towards Ezekiel and hugged him. He knew this would happen so he was prepared. He immediately cast two Fire Bolts one after the other and targeted the boar’s head.
Ezekiel was expecting the board to get hurt and then stop he planned to continue bombarding the boar with Fire Bolt on its head until it died but after the two Fire Bolts hit the boar’s head, the animal’s head actually exploded causing it to die immediately.
He was flabbergasted at the power of Fire Bolt. He didn’t expect that the cantrip would be able to kill it immediately but then again, the boar was small and a nonmagical beast. He was glad that he didn’t use the Fire Bolt cantrip on the bullies the day before because there was a chance that he could have killed those boys and that would result in the villagers hunting him.
Robert and Luke cheered when they saw the boar die.
“Wow, brother, you’re so powerful!” Robert kept on cheering and Luke cheered as well copying his big brother.
Ezekiel went to the board and cut off the burnt part then stored the corpse in his 4th tab. He was glad that his inventory was big enough to store the boar but any bigger and it wouldn’t fit.
“Let’s go home and prepare to go to the market to sell the boar,” Ezekiel said to his brother but he noticed that the boys were looking surprised.
“Where’s the pig?!” Robert asked and even Luke was trying to find the pig.
“I stored it in my magic hidden cabinet,” Ezekiel told Robert.
Robert then danced around while saying “My brother is a wizard, my brother is a wizard” and Luke copied his brother again. Ezekiel laughed at his brothers’ antics then they started the journey home.
When they arrived in their small shack, Ezekiel prepared a wooden board that would allow him to drag the boar to the market once they were near the village. The only problem was he didn’t know how much he could get from the butcher and wished that the man wouldn’t scam him.
