TBE Chapter 18

Ezekiel and his brothers Robert and Luke went to the market after eating their lunch. Since he already purchased 3 sets of medieval costumes for women that looked almost the same as what the women from here were wearing for 3 copper coins and the fact that the dresses looked well-made and brand new, Ezekiel was hoping to sell the clothes for at least 10 copper coins each hoping to net 9 copper coins for each dress.

He entered one of the shops that sells clothes and Ezekiel chose the largest one. His brothers followed him inside and when one of the women who were selling clothes saw them, she immediately went towards them.

“Hello Boy, are you planning to buy clothes?” The woman said.

Ezekiel was still a bit confused about their family’s situation in the village. Ever since he arrived in this world, in this village as a matter of fact, he kept expecting that the villagers wouldn’t treat him and his brothers well since he and his brothers were malnourished and if the villagers cared about them, they wouldn’t have reached that stage and would have received assistance from the villagers.

Unfortunately, he didn’t inherit the previous owner of his body’s memories so he didn’t have any inkling what brought them to that stage since based on his examination of his body and his brothers’ bodies, one more winter, if winter in this world was harsh, would have brought them their demise.

“Hello, Miss. My name is Zeke and these are my brothers Robert and Luke. When my parents left us my mother left her three precious dresses with us and told me that if anything happened to them, we could sell their belongings to survive. I brought three of her best dresses with me,” Ezekiel then put the three clothes on a counter.

The woman examined the dresses and gasped when she saw the state of the clothes. She then called someone from the back of the store and a much older woman arrived. The two women examined the clothes thoroughly but soon three women customers also approached them and looked at the clothes. The customers were clearly interested in the clothes.

When the older woman who was examining the clothes saw the customer’s interest, she invited Ezekiel to the back of the store so he followed her while the woman brought the clothes with her.

“The clothes are well made and practically brand new. I don’t recognize some of the materials that were used and how the stitching was done. I’ll buy each dress from you for 1 silver coin each. What do you say?” The woman said.

Ezekiel was surprised and glad. He purchased the three dresses for 3 copper coins and didn’t expect to earn a hundred times the worth of the clothes so he simply nodded.

The woman gave him 3 silver coins. He thanked the lady and went outside the shop after gathering his brothers. He didn’t care how much the clothes seller would sell the clothes since it was none of his business anymore.

Ezekiel gathered his siblings and exited the village to return home to their shack on the outskirts. They passed by a village well and he filled the three plastic gallons with water that was in his 4th tab space.

When they reached a part of the road that they were sure that nobody would be, Ezekiel cast Tenser’s Floating Disk and Robert and Luke climbed it. Ezekiel wished he could have climbed the disk as well and used the spell to travel but unfortunately, the spell was only used to carry things and would only move once he moved since the disk would follow him.

Once they reached home, Ezekiel and his two brothers ate some Champorado plus milk spelled to taste like a strawberry milkshake for a snack. The boys then started playing with each other using the toys that he purchased for them.

Ezekiel was reviewing his system shopping site to check what he could purchase since he felt rich, having 1 gold 50 silver, and 70 plus copper coins.

He purchased the cantrip Minor Illusion to use to scare ordinary people like bullies since Ezekiel didn’t really want to hurt anyone especially if they were just kids so scaring them away using illusion spells was a good way to get rid of them.

Ezekiel also purchased the 1st level spell Sleep for 1 silver coin so he could put people to sleep to avoid any confrontation that could harm them. He was feeling the lack of slots so the next day, he planned to hunt animals again to attempt to increase his level.

After checking the wizard spell list page, Ezekiel turned his attention to his system shopping page. This time he planned to fully explore the site to check the possible items he could purchase.

The first thing that Ezekiel checked was weaponry. He found that he could purchase cold weapons since they were classified as costume props even though according to the description, they were actually made from real materials and could be truly used as weapons. He also saw that he could purchase bows and crossbows since they were also considered costume props. There were severe warnings though on the products regarding how dangerous the props could be since they could be used as real weaponry.

Ezekiel then checked if there were hot weapons but using any keyword that he could think of, there were no guns of any sort available on the site.

He briefly checked a dark site that provided ingredients on how to make a gun and he found them so if he were truly living in a world where magic was close to non-existent, he could start a technological revolution based on the information available to him from the internet. He checked the shopping site if he could find the ingredients on how to make a gun and surprisingly he found all of the required ingredients.

Ezekiel briefly wondered why guns were not available but the guide and ingredients to make one was being provided by his system.

After that, he checked the vehicles that he could purchase from the site and was shocked at how extensive it was. All sorts of vehicles are available and only those that could be considered as weapons were not, like tanks. Even a yacht could be purchased. There seemed to be a limit when it came to the size since he didn’t find any large ships or large airplanes but small planes were available and that truly made him flabbergasted.

He concluded that his system was truly overpowered and could advance this world to the level of Earth technology-wise in a short amount of time if he allowed himself to propagate the items from his system. That of course if this world was close to non-magical. If this world were magical, powerful beings like dragons or archmages or liches could, of course, halt something like that since technological advancement from an unknown source could be a threat to their dominion.

There could even be active gods and goddesses like the ones in Dungeons and Dragons or Forgotten Realm so until he knew more information, Ezekiel would not be reckless in showing advanced technology from his system.

Ezekiel then turned his attention to practical things like houses and furniture and he saw that the largest house he could purchase was the expandable tiny home. The materials to build a home exist though and they were extensive. There were RVs as well though so if he wanted and if he managed to earn enough coins, he could purchase those. Again, technological item was a risk so before he knew more information, he would only be purchasing things that he could disguise.

He then checked what kind of food he could purchase and upon doing some extensive research, Ezekiel knew that once he had enough coins, he would never have to cook since all cooked dishes from Earth were available from the site.

The only conclusion that he reached was that even though the system shopping site looked like the most famous shopping site from where he came from, it was truly different from the original. It had items that the original could wish it had in stock. The variety and marvel alone of the products available would allow Ezekiel to spend millions of coins without noticing he was being a spendthrift.

Even now, with the gold coin that he had, he was tempted to use it to purchase some of the items he saw in there and it took a good amount of willpower to stop himself.

Soon night arrived and he called his brothers for dinner. They ate the beef stew on top of rice and water spelled to taste like fruit juice. Looking at Robert and Luke’s bodies slowly filling out, Ezekiel was happy that soon, the malnourished look would disappear and no one would mistake them for refugees from war-torn countries.

Ezekiel then cast Healing Elixir and told his brothers to drink them to make sure that they were truly healthy. Then he cleaned their clothes and used the Mending spell to repair any torn parts and cleaned their bodies using his Prestidigitation spell before tucking them in. He then cast the Mage Armor spell on all of them as insurance and after that, he continued telling them the fairy tale story that he was reading to them and soon the kids were asleep.

He then turned off the lantern and cast the Alarm spell for safety reasons. Ezekiel was glad that it was easy to swap out the spell from the slot since all he needed to do was wait until the spell was off cooldown but it would still be better if he had more than one 1st level slot.
