Chapter 3

Ezekiel purchased the bread and the 1 liter filtered water for 1 copper coin each. He switched to the last tab which was supposed to be his inventory and the loaf of bread and bottled water was there. Using his mind, he successfully brought out the bread and water.

He immediately opened the loaf of bread, took a single slice, and ate it slowly to make sure that he would suffer from stomach ache. He had never tasted anything so delicious in his life and now he knew that the best sauce in the world was indeed hunger. After he ate the piece of bread, he drank some of the mineral water and it was equally delicious. More delicious as a matter of fact to the best wine and juice that money could buy and he didn’t care that his body was just responding to the quenching of the severe hunger and thirst it was experiencing.

After waiting for a few minutes, he took another sliced bread but this time he cast his cantrip Prestidigitation on it, and when he took a bite, the bread tasted like the most delicious cinnamon-flavored bread coated with cream. He tried to eat slowly but because of the flavor of the slice of bread, he couldn’t help but eat the whole slice in a few bites. He then cast another Prestidigitation to his bottled water and was glad that the cooldown of the spell was only a minute.

The water tasted like a freshly made Four Seasons juice drink and this confirmed that the cantrip Prestidigitation is the most powerful spell of them all.

While he was drinking, Ezekiel went back to reading the rules of his magic in his browser System Panel and there was a note that once he was finished reading, the rules of his magic could be found on the site where the rules of how a wizard worked in the third page that he bookmarked. It also stated that an announcement regarding his magic that was loosely based on DnD could be found there as well.

After he was satiated, Ezekiel stored the bread and bottle of water in the fifth tab which was his inventory, and went back to reading. Based on the information in the character panel, the inventory was 1 cubic meter in size. He wondered about the unit of measurement that was used by his system. The prestidigitation spell used I cubic foot on the description page which was the Imperial System while this Inventory information used 1 cubic meter which was the Metric System. That meant that the length of measurement that his all-powerful system would use or even other types of measurement would not be standard and would probably use different systems. It doesn’t truly bother Ezekiel since he wasn’t someone who would obsess with something like that.

The inventory information also stated that he could purchase more space on the shopping website so that was good.

Ezekiel noticed that there was no address bar so he couldn’t directly type a website but for experimentation, he typed a famous streaming site in the search bar, and lo and behold, it resulted in the page showing a list of different streaming sites and the first one was the one that he typed.

He mentally clicked on the number 1 result and the page for that streaming website opened up. This situation flabbergasted Ezekiel since that meant that he had access to the Internet and if that were true, it would relieve him greatly and the sadness caused by his death in his old world would disappear.

He played a video and maximized it. The video and sound quality were top notch and Ezekiel almost cried. He then clicked the home button and it brought him to the search engine site with character panel and system information below. He typed different websites in the search engine bar like an anime website, a web novel website, and even an adult website, and all of them appeared. Ezekiel wanted to kneel and worship his system. He checked the date and time and weirdly enough it showed the actual date and time of his old world which was the day after he slept. Ezekiel concluded that he was still connected to his world or at least his browser was.

The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.

Ezekiel then thought of returning to his two very young brothers since they should be worried right now. Even though he wasn’t actually related to them, the body that he was using was their brother and as payment to the boy, he promised that he would take care of the two young children as if they were his actual brothers.

The only problem was he didn’t know how to get home. Ezekiel didn’t inherit any memory from the previous owner of the body like in the web novels he had read. He decided to type Map in his search bar and lo and behold a map appeared. Unfortunately, it seemed like it would only show the places this young man had been and it was extremely limited but it did show the way to get back to the village which was to the South. It even showed an indicator of where he was currently and that would assist him greatly in not getting lost.

The only indicator on the map was him, the name of the forest which was simply called Eagle Forest, and the name of the village which was Eagle Village. He wondered if there were eagles here. There was a green arrowhead indicating him in the map and Ezekiel wondered if an enemy would show up on the map as a red arrowhead.

Ezekiel began following the way back using his map in the browser but he kept closing the window to make sure that he would be able to see the surrounding area. He didn’t want to stumble onto something dangerous like a snake, a wolf, a bear, or even something magical like a slime or a goblin. He didn’t even know if there were monsters like that in this world.

While walking slowly, he wondered what type of world this was. Was this a world filled with powerful archmages and dragons? He would assume so since his system categorized him as a wizard but he shouldn’t assume. He would need to lie low at first since a single Fire Bolt was hardly powerful enough to defend himself and his two young brothers.

Ezekiel felt weird about that since he never had any close relatives now he had two very young brothers.

After walking for two hours he finally reached the outskirts of the village. Thankfully, he didn’t encounter any dangerous creature but he luckily stumbled on a huge pheasant and he killed it by casting his Fire Bolt on the bird’s head. It appeared that his cantrip had some sort of homing effect since even though the pheasant was around 80 feet away, the Fire Bolt hit it in the head.

He stored the pheasant in his inventory since that would help him and his brothers survive. He wondered if he should sell the pheasant. He could use the coins to buy more things from his shopping website but he would check it out first since there’s a chance that there’s a rule that only nobles could hunt pheasants.

In some of the novels that he had read, there was something like that and he didn’t want to go to jail because of a bird.

After successfully killing a pheasant, Ezekiel kept his eyes open for more things that he could hunt but he hadn’t found any more animals before reaching his home.

He arrived home and saw the small shack that the brothers built on the outskirts of the village, almost inside the forest. Based on the information in the character panel, the boy and his brothers didn’t have any choice but to build their shack in this location since nobody in the small village wanted to take care of them and were told to build their home someplace far away.

Ezekiel wondered at the heartlessness of the villagers. Most novels that he had read depicted villages as some sort of close tight-knit community that would take care of their own but they had been very callous towards the boy and his brothers and he wondered if there was some sort of underlying issue.

It didn’t matter to him since one of his plans was to move to a large city and live there together with his two brothers. Ezekiel thought that it might be better to hide his magic and his system in a big city but of course, he wasn’t sure so any tentative plans that he thought of were subject to change.

He might even copy the behavior of the protagonist in the anime and work as a traveling merchant. It was just a pity that his body was too young and would cause suspicion and danger if suddenly had unique and valuable items that they could sell. He wished he also had a powerful Fenrir companion for their protection but for now, he could only rely on his magic. Ezekiel wasn’t quiet while approaching their shack so soon his two brothers ran outside.

“Brother! You’re back!” Kid, Ezekiel’s 7-year-old brother shouted.

“Boy! Boy!” The 4-year-old Chip said while both boys were running towards him.

Ezekiel’s heart broke when he saw how malnourished both boys were and he almost cried then but he took hold of himself and showed a smiling face to both of his siblings.
