Chapter 14
Ezekiel was looking at the tab that says Wizard Spell List DnD 5e while his brothers were enjoying themselves playing with the badminton racket and shuttlecock that he purchased.
The wizard spell list web page was where he could purchase his spells and right now he was looking at the list of 1st level spells. After browsing all the spells, Ezekiel proceeded to do what he was planning which was to purchase the 1st level spell Healing Elixir. Having a healing spell made him feel secure.
The moment he purchased it, he immediately cast the spell and a small red vial filled with red potion appeared in his hand. He examined the vial; it looked delicate like a piece of gem with crystal liquid inside it. He opened the vial and drank the content and the moment the liquid was gone, the vial disappeared.
The potion tasted like water and when Ezekiel drank it, he noticed a mild burning sensation coming in from his stomach and spreading to his whole body. That meant that he was probably suffering from some underlying disease or sickness that the elixir cured. Maybe parasites or worms? He wasn’t sure but whatever it was, it was probably one of the causes of his malnutrition, aside from actual lack of nutrition of course. He cast the spell again after its cooldown was over then drank the vial of Healing Elixir again but this time, there was no reaction from the potion.
That meant that the first potion alone cured him of any hidden ailment that his body was suffering from.
After four minutes, Ezekiel was holding two vials of Healing Elixir so he called his brothers.
“Robert, Luke come here I have something special that I want you to eat. It’s very delicious, it’s called Ice Cream!” Ezekiel said while retrieving the gallon of chocolate ice cream that he purchased from the system shopping site for 1 copper coin.
The two boys who were playing ran toward him while Ezekiel scooped two scoops of ice cream from the ice cream tub to the three bowls that he prepared.
“Poop!” Luke said when the kids saw the ice cream on the bowls.
Ezekiel laughed when he heard what his youngest brother had said.
“It’s not poop! This is called ice cream and it’s one of the most delicious food in the world. Before you can eat them though, drink this potion first.”
“What are those?” Robert asked.
“They’re healing potions. They will cure all sicknesses in our bodies.”
Ezekiel actually wasn’t 100 percent sure if the Healing Elixir would do something of that sort but he did feel the effect of the spell when he drank it earlier.
The two boys then drank the potion when he unstopped the vials.
“My stomach feels funny,” Luke said.
“Yeah and I can feel it spreading to my whole body,” Robert added.
His brothers’ experiences were basically the same as what he had undergone when he drank the potion.
“Okay now go ahead and eat your ice cream,” Ezekiel said and he ate his portion at the same time.
The moment the boys had a spoonful of the chocolate ice cream, he saw his brothers’ eyes open wide.
Robert then said it was delicious then continued eating while Luke shouted that it was yummy.
After they were done eating, the boys went back to playing and Ezekiel cleaned the dishes using his Prestidigitation spell and stored them in his inventory. He planned to continue storing all the things that he purchased from his system shopping site to avoid anyone seeing them just in case somebody did come into their home.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Then he went back to perusing his System Browser. He noticed in his character panel in the main tab where the search bar was located that his experience climbed to 30 percent. More than likely, the experience came from the two boars that he just killed or maybe some sort of achievement that he completed.
Ezekiel was beginning to get disgruntled about the lack of information about the experiences that he had been earning. He really wanted to know so he could plan on how to grind for levels. Leveling up and increasing his power was the only way to make sure that he and his two brothers could survive and even thrive in this world.
After that, Ezekiel took out the book that he purchased from Mr. Duvon and reviewed what he had learned earlier. It was important for him to learn how to read and write as soon as possible.
When the sun had set, they all went inside the house. Ezekiel prepared their dinner which was the fried pork and rice and three glasses of water that he spelled to taste like fruit juice. After dinner, he cleaned his brother and himself with the Prestidigitation spell including their clothes.
Ezekiel had a total of 2 silver coins and 33 coppers. He decided to spend 1 silver coin to increase his 4th tab space to 3 cubic meters and the range of storing items to the space by three feet. With a much larger space, he could hunt and store more animals from the forest.
Hunting animals was the only sure way that he could think of right now to earn experience and he also needed the coins from selling the animals.
“What are we going to do tomorrow, brother,” Robert asked.
“We’ll hunt more animals so we can earn more coins. If we have a lot more coins, I can conjure more wonderful things,” Ezekiel answered.
Ezekiel then tucked his brothers in the bed and continued reading to them the fairy tale story that he had been reading to them but hadn’t finished yet due to his brothers falling asleep very fast and as expected they did fall asleep after a few minutes.
Looking at his two brothers, Ezekiel could see that they were beginning to get meat on their bones and was hoping that soon he could remove all signs of malnutrition from their bodies. He hoped that the Healing Elixir spell would help heal all of their bodies from the ravages of malnutrition and that they could all grow up to become healthy. He was truly beginning to care about the two boys as if they were truly his brothers and knew that it was just a combination of the lingering feeling of the previous owner of his body and the pity that he felt while looking at the boys but he didn’t care. He already made a vow that he would take care of the kids.
In the meantime, he turned off the lantern and reviewed the list of spells that he wanted to purchase. Ezekiel wanted to have some sort of protection so Mage Armor was must buy spell and the fact that the spell duration was 8 hours meant that he could cast it in the morning and then forget about it. The Mage Armor was a very good protection and he could cast it to himself and his two brothers.
He also thought that the Alarm spell was a good one since the spell would wake him up in case someone entered their shack’s vicinity that he didn’t approve of. Another good spell was Magic Missile since it’s considered an Area of Attack spell.
Magic Missile was a 1st level spell but he could slot in on the cantrip slots since according to the rules of his system which were offensively different from the actual DnD 5e rules, spells slotted below its level would decrease in power by 20 percent which was the opposite of spells slotted above their level which would increase the power by 20 percent.
One good thing about Magic Missile was, that once cast, three glowing darts or missiles would appear and would hit all enemies that he intended to hit but if there was only one enemy, that meant that all of the three missiles would hit that enemy which would cause considerable damage. One good thing about the Magic Missile spell was if slotted above its level, the number of darts or missiles would increase but the minimum was still three darts so even if he put in the cantrip slots, each cast would still contain three missiles.
Ezekiel imagined casting two Magic Missiles at once. The sight of six glowing missiles coming out of his hands and hitting his enemies would be glorious. That meant that if there were more than two animals, he would still be able to kill them without any issues.
He decided then that once he had enough coins, he would purchase Mage Armor and then Magic Missile. That meant he would need 2 silver coins. If he added the Alarm Spell, he would need one more silver coin.
Ezekiel knew that he would need to think deeply about money-making ideas since he needed the coins.
He had to admit that every time the three of them ventured into the forest, there was still a slight trepidation and now that he had Healing Elixir, that trepidation lessened but Ezekiel thought that it would still be better if they would have the defense to survive an ambush attack from an animal that could possibly be hidden in a bush.
He decided then to spend a silver coin to purchase Mage Armor. He would cast the spell before they ventured into the forest to hunt animals and that would comfort him. After purchasing the spell, Ezekiel’s total coins left were 33 copper coins but now he had 4 spells. Prestidigitation, Fire Bolt, Healing Elixir, and Mage Armor.
