TBE Chapter 20
Ezekiel and his two brothers were still inside the forest traveling towards their shack in the outskirts of the Eagle Village.
It was already around 5 in the afternoon and soon the sun would set, which was making him a little nervous.
Suddenly, Ezekiel saw something run in the distance so he stopped and looked at the surrounding area carefully.
“Brother I saw a wolf!” Robert shouted.
That sentence from his brother made him truly nervous since based on some of the novels that he had read, if one sees a wolf in the forest, there should be more. But it was summer so there should be a lot of game and from what he knew about wolves, which was admittedly, very little, wolves would usually only be dangerous during wintertime and should have avoided humans during the time of plenty.
Three wolves then appeared in front of them and they were huge. Ezekiel was looking at the wolves and they looked healthy and wondered why they were targeting them. Was it because the three of them looked small? At the end of the day, it didn’t matter. Since the three animals targeted them, they could only die.
Ezekiel immediately cast three Magic Missiles one after the other and made sure to target the three wolves' heads. The wolves howled and ran towards them but three glowing darts on each of their heads caused them to explode.
He remained vigilant and was glad that the cooldown for the cantrip slots was only a minute. He did have the Sleep spell ready just in case there were more wolves. He was right in making sure that he remained aware of his surroundings since two more wolves appeared behind them.
The two wolves almost reached them and Ezekiel only became aware because he heard the rustling of their movement. Robert and Luke were huddling on top of the Tenser’s Floating Disk.
He immediately cast the Sleep spell on the two wolves and the animals immediately fell to the ground asleep. When the Magic Missile cooldown was over, he killed the two wolves.
Ezekiel remained vigilant though to make sure that he was ready in case there were more wolves. After a few minutes no more wolves came out. He wondered if it was because there were truly no more wolves or if the others in their pack ran away.
Looking at the five wolf corpses, Ezekiel wondered if they had any value. A quick internet search said that their furs could be valuable so he decided to spend 5 silver coins to increase his 4th tab space to 4 cubic meters. That would also increase the pickup range of his space to 4 feet.
After storing all the corpses of the wolves, Ezekiel and his brothers continue traveling home and soon they arrive in their shack after a few hours.
The sun was setting and Robert and Luke were already complaining that they were hungry so Ezekiel prepared dinner for them. He lit up the lantern and prepared the beef stew on top of rice plus water spelled to taste like fruit juice for their dinner. After dinner, the three played the Snakes and Ladders board game to pass the time and during that play, Ezekiel was examining his system browser.
He was a bit excited since he leveled up to level 2 and even had 10 percent experience till he reached level 3. He thought of purchasing Levitate since he thought that he could use it to travel while pulling the Tenser’s Floating Disk but based on research, the Levitate spell would just let you well, levitate. Basically, you just float in place up to 20 feet, and the only thing that Ezekiel thought he could use the spell for was to avoid enemies on the ground and cast spells at them from high above but then again based on the description, even casting spells would not be allowed.

Looking at the list of 2nd-level spells, Ezekiel did not find any spells that he urgently needed to purchase. The only spells he was remotely interested in were Invisibility and Hold Person but he decided to hold off on purchasing more spells since his current spells were enough for now.
He was excited to reach level 2 since he thought that he could use Levitate to move, like a poor man’s Fly spell but he should have read the description of the spell thoroughly.
Right now they were living comfortably in the small shack that his predecessor had built but Ezekiel had to admit that the shack was shabby and they wouldn’t be able to survive the winter in that house.
At first, Ezekiel thought of purchasing an expandable tiny home from his system shopping site since based on what he could see, that tiny home would be comfortable to live in but then looking at the list of spells that he could purchase from the Wizard Spell List page, one of the spells there was called Galder’s Tower. It was only a 3rd level spell meaning one more level and he would be able to purchase the spell. Galder’s Tower would allow him to conjure a two-story tower and he could choose what type of room each level would be.
The description of the spell was very detailed and was impressed at each of the rooms that he chose each of the floor could be. The dining space alone could have a table, chairs, cooking utensils, containers, and a magical fireplace. The spell’s duration was 24 hours and could be refreshed by casting the spell again.
The good thing about the spell was it could be made permanent if he cast the spell in the same location for a year and he could increase the number of floors if the spell were slotted in a higher level slot.
Ezekiel’s plan was once he was able to cast the spell, he would choose the 1st floor as their dining room and he would just add a couple of beds or a bunk bed where they could sleep and the 2nd floor would be the washroom since based on the description the washroom comes with toilets, washtubs, a magical brazier, and sauna benches.
Once he can slot the spell on a higher level slot then the next room would be a proper bedroom.
Of course, all his plans were tentative since he didn’t know when he would reach the 3rd level and not only that, they might leave this place soon since that was his original plan.
The next day, Ezekiel woke up early so he slowly moved so as not to disturb his brothers. He planned to spend the morning cooking a lot of food so he would have a lot of stored food in his 4th tab spaces since his cooking would cost a lot less compared to buying cooked restaurant food from his system shopping site.
He spent 20 copper coins worth of ingredients and it was a lot already and began the long process of cooking their meals. After a couple of hours, the sun was already high in the sky when Robert and Luke woke up possibly by the smell of Ezekiel’s cooking.
He served his Robert and Luke breakfast which consisted of slices of bacon, eggs, pancakes, and milk spelled to taste like chocolate milk. Ezekiel joined them in eating breakfast and they didn’t forget to drink their vitamins. It was actually Luke who reminded him since he told his brothers that they were magical pills that would make them healthy.
After breakfast, the twins busied themselves playing. They even entered the forest and Robert assured him that it was safe since they would just be near their house and they hadn’t encountered anything dangerous during the time they had been living there.
Ezekiel understood since they had to walk several hours before they could encounter animals to hunt but he still cast the Mage Armor spell on them to make sure that would be safe.
He continued cooking and it took him six hours before he was done cooking all of the ingredients that he bought from his system shopping site. He needed to spend another 2 copper coins on containers where he could put all the food that he purchased and based on his calculations, all the food that he cooked together with the reaming food and all the drinks that he purchased which were just cold water, milk and juice which cost him an additional 4 copper coins, would last them around three weeks that was if they were not supplemented by him purchasing cooked food from his system.
That meant that if he spontaneously purchased food from his system like pizza or other fast food, the food he cooked would last longer.
Around noon, Robert and Luke returned since they were hungry so went and purchased Big Macs, soda, and fries from the fast food section of his system shopping site and that cost him a whopping 5 copper coins. That’s the reason why he cooked a lot of food since Ezekiel still couldn’t be extravagant when it came to their food and to be honest, cooked food was still much healthier compared to fast food.
Robert and Luke were looking at the huge hamburgers with wide eyes.
“How do we eat this?” Robert asked.
Ezekiel demonstrated by picking up the huge hamburger and giving it a big bite. The two kids immediately copied him by picking up their burgers and biting them. Ezekiel laughed out loud when he saw Robert and Luke crying at the deliciousness of the burgers.
