Chapter 16
Ezekiel decided to let Robert go to the market to ask the butcher for help. He would tell his brother to tell the butcher that they had killed the bear and they wouldn’t be able to drag it to the market since it was too heavy.
When the boys woke up, he fed them Oreos from the box that he purchased for a copper coin and milk. Then he asked Robert to go to the market and tell the butcher that they killed a bear but since the bear was too large, they wouldn’t be able to bring the bear to the market.
“Is it safe for you to go to the town market alone?” Ezekiel asked his brother concernedly and Robert actually rolled his eyes at him.
Ezekiel then led his two brothers to where they would set up the bear which was not far from their shack then he cast Mage Armor toward his brother before Robert sprinted away towards the market. For good measure, he cast Mage Armor on Luke and himself as well then they waited for Robert and the butcher and whoever he would bring for assistance to arrive.
While they were waiting, Ezekiel played badminton with Luke and their laughter filled the forest.
Soon, they heard noises coming in so Ezekiel stored the badminton racket and shuttlecock and waited. Robert arrived leading the butcher with a couple of men. They were driving a cart tied to a horse.
When they saw the huge bear, the butcher and the two men who joined him gasped.
“How did you manage to kill such a large monster?!” The butcher asked.
“I have invented a trap that can target an animal’s head. They had never seen what was coming to them,” Ezekiel knew that his explanation also came with a hint of threat, and the butcher and two men just laughed heartily.
“You don’t need to worry, Zeke. I’m not going to cheat you. I’ll pay you 50 silver coins for the whole thing since the bear is intact. The skin would fetch me a good sum of coins. Unfortunately, there’s no head or some noble would pay good coins to purchase the whole corpse so they can stuff it and display it in their castle,” The butcher said.
“I also managed to kill two pheasants. I’ll go get it,” Ezekiel said then he went behind a tree and retrieved the birds.
When the three men saw that the birds didn’t have heads, Ezekiel could see them wondering how he killed the animals since all of the animals that he sold were missing their heads.
“Fine, I’ll pay you 51 silver coins, is that acceptable?” The butcher said and Ezekiel nodded.
The burly man gave 51 silver coins to him and the three men loaded the huge bear corpse in the cart they brought. The horse must have smelled the bear since it became skittish but one of the men held its head and spoke unintelligible words to it to calm it down and it did.
Now the only game animal left inside his 4th tab was the smaller boar and Ezekiel thought about keeping the pig and butchering it himself by following a video guide from the famous streaming website. He briefly opened his browser and checked how to butcher a pig and after a few seconds, he decided to just sell the pig the day after tomorrow.
The three boys then went to their home and while they were walking Ezekiel asked Robert something.
“Did you encounter any trouble while going to the market?”
Robert just answered that he didn’t encounter anyone and when he returned home, he was with the butcher and his friends.

When they arrived home, Robert and Luke played with their toys while Ezekiel opened his system spell list intending to spend some of the coins he earned to purchase some spells. He spent 2 silver and 50 copper coins to purchase the cantrip Mending and the 1st level spells Magic Missile and Alarm.
His total coins left were 48 silver and 82 copper coins.
Even though he only had 1 slot for his 1st level spell, Ezekiel could swap out the spells once the cooldown of the spells was over. He just needed to mentally click the spell slots and it would show the spell levels. When he selected the desired spell level it would then show the list of spells available. For example, if he clicked on the 1st level slot, it would show two things first, Cantrips and 1st Level Spells. Once he selected Cantrips, it would then show the list of cantrips he could put on the slot.
Ezekiel slotted the Alarm and then cast it on the house. That meant that if someone or something went past the alarm’s Area of Effect which was 30 feet, the spell would give him a warning and he made sure to choose the mental alarm instead of the audible one since he didn’t want to panic his brothers by using the loud audible alarm.
The Alarm spell would last 8 hours so he would just cast it again before they sleep. After the cooldown ended he thought of casting the Mending spell but he didn’t find anything in his immediate area of things that needed mending so instead he slotted the Magic Missile spell on all of the slots.
“Robert, Luke come here! I want to show you something!” Ezekiel called his brothers.
The two boys ran toward him and Robert yelled “What”.
“I’m going to cast a spell and it’s going to be very powerful and beautiful!” Ezekiel said to his brothers.
Ezekiel then cast five Magic Missiles one after another and 15 glowing missiles appeared from his hand and targeted the branches high in the trees as he intended. The Magic Missiles looked beautiful and 12 of them at once made it look like a firework came out of his hands.
The boys clapped their hands but soon ran inside the shack since branches that were the target of the spell fell from the trees and soon the ground was littered with branches.
Inside their small shack, Ezekiel and his two brothers waited until the branches from the upper part of the trees stopped falling.
“Brother, your magic is so powerful!” Robert said while looking at his brother admiringly.
“I know. With my magic, we’ll live good lives. We’ll travel the world and find a home for ourselves.”
“Are we going to go to the village instead of living here?”
“No. We’re going to a city. It’s much larger and richer than the village.”
After that, the three brothers went outside and collected the fallen branches, which they would use as fuel for their fireplace and the camping stove that Ezekiel had purchased. They put the branches with the others beside their shack.
Ezekiel then thought of cooking more food that he could store. Once he had enough coins, he didn’t have to cook anymore since he would just directly buy cooked food from his System Shopping Website. Right now a kilo of raw chicken would only cost him a copper coin. With cooked food, one copper coin would only be enough for one meal for the three of them but with him cooking the raw chicken and rice, it could cover several meals.
He decided to cook fried chicken and steamed rice. There were still some left in his 4th tab but the more the merrier. After two hours he managed to cook crispy fried chicken, transferred the steamed rice to a huge bowl, and stored them in his inventory.
The brothers then ate fried chicken with rice for dinner and just drank water but he flavored it as juice drinks using his Prestidigitation spell. Since it was already late, Ezekiel cleaned his brothers and their clothes then he tucked them into the bed. He continued the fairy tale story but after a few minutes, Ezekiel’s brothers were asleep.
Ezekiel cast Alarm towards the front of their house to make sure that he would be notified if anyone came near and he cast Mage Armor to himself and his brothers even while they were sleeping just in case. After that, he swapped out the spells from the 1st level slot with Magic Missile and three of the slots in the cantrip section with Magic Missile as well just in case somebody attacked at night, he could just blast them with his Magic Missile spell.
Ezekiel then checked his experience bar and it showed that he was 50 percent to reach level 2. He knew that the bear alone didn’t give him 20 percent of his experience and had an inkling it was a combination of reaching an achievement and killing the huge animal.
He decided that tomorrow, he would go to the market to learn his letters first then try to sell beautiful sets of women's clothes from his system shopping sites and claim them as her mother’s clothes so he immediately spent 3 copper coins to purchase 3 medieval costume dresses for women. He thought that it might fetch him 7 to 10 copper coins per set of clothes. Ezekiel checked his remaining coins in his 4th tab and saw that it was 48 Silver Coins and 70 plus copper coins.
