TBE Chapter 11

Chapter 11

“That is such a huge pig, brother! Are we rich after we sell that?” Robert asked.

“No, but it will allow me to buy the most delicious food ever!” Ezekiel laughed.

“Yummy! Yummy!” Luke shouted.

Suddenly the three brothers were startled to hear a large snort from a distance and when they checked where it was coming from, they saw another boar but this time it was smaller than the one they just killed. Ezekiel thought that the boar could be the dead boar’s mate.

“Pig!” Luke shouted while pointing at the second boar who was now running towards them.

Ezekiel immediately cast a Fire Bolt, the one that was slotted in the 1st level slot. Due to some sort of his spell homing ability, it unerringly hit the boar’s head and that spell alone exploded the boar’s head instantly.

He stored the first boar in his 4th tab space and then the three brothers moved toward the second dead boar. Ezekiel cast a second Fire Bolt on the boar’s head to make sure that it was truly dead since he didn’t want any sort of accident. When he saw that the boar didn’t react, he was sure that it was dead. When they got near the dead boar, he prodded it with his foot again, and when it didn’t move, began to cut off the burnt part again then stored the boar in his inventory.

Ezekiel was amazed at the power of his cantrip since even though they were just cantrips, they were powerful enough to quell forest animals even as huge as the boars they recently killed. The one thing he missed was the details. He didn’t know the exact damage of his spells and the animal’s hit points.

Normally the Wizard Spell List DnD 5e site would show the damage of each spell like for Fire Bolt, originally it said that its damage was supposed to be 1d10 Fire Damage but that information was missing. The only numbers that he could see were the spell’s range which was 120 feet and the cooldown which was two minutes if it were slotted in the 1st level slot or 1 minute if it were in the cantrip slot.

He did see the Identify spell which was a 1st level spell but according to its description, it would only identify an item that he touched to check the item’s magical properties and when he Identify a creature, it would only show the spell affecting said creatures. It didn’t have any capability of the Identify skill that gamers in a game were familiar with wherein it would show the Hit Points, mana points, and other stats of the identified item or being.

Given that he couldn’t do anything about it, Ezekiel just put it at the back of his mind and stored the second boar in his 4th tab.

“Wow, two boars! We’re rich!” Robert cheered and Luke copied him.

“Okay let’s go home so we can eat lunch. It’s dangerous to stay here in the forest.”

“There’s no danger! You can just kill them with your magic!”

Ezekiel just shook his head at Robert’s confidence about his magic and the three brothers started walking home.

When they arrived at their shack, they were all exhausted so the first thing that Ezekiel did was remove his two brothers’ clothes and clean them using his Prestidigitation spell then after the cooldown was over, he cast the same spell on his brothers to clean them. He did the same thing to himself as well but Ezekiel thought that taking a bath was better than using the spell but the river was so far. After all of them were cleaned and dressed in clean clothes, they ate the rice porridge that Ezekiel cooked earlier that morning but this time, he cast Prestidigitation on their milk so it would taste like chocolate milk.

After eating one bowl each, Ezekiel gave the brothers three gummy candies each for dessert then Robert and Luke started playing their Snakes and Ladders board game.

“Aren’t you going to join us?” Robert asked.

“No. I will cook food so we can eat something different later during dinner,” Ezekiel answered so the brothers went inside the shack to play their board game.

Ezekiel prepared all the things that he would need to cook. He needed to purchase more things though to use for cooking so he spent another copper coin to purchase a huge bowl and another pot.

The first thing that he cooked was steamed rice and after it was done. He purchased 1 kilo of pork chop and some breading for another copper coin. Now he only had 31 copper coins.

He stored the steamed rice in his 4th tab space once it was cooked then began creating tonkatsu which was fired pork seasoned with salt and pepper and breading. After the dishes were done, he stored them as well then he began cleaning up. He as truly thankful for the Prestidigitation spell since it allowed him to clean everything effortlessly.

After everything was clean he stored everything that he purchased from his system in the 4th tab just in case somebody arrived. He was wary of others finding the alien things in their possession and the only alien thing left was the board game.

“Are you done cooking?” Robert asked and he answered his brother that he was and that their dinner would be different later.

The Tonkatsu meal that he cooked consisted of 9 meals, meaning 3 meals each but he planned to cook some more so he could store a lot of food in his 4th tab space that he could retrieve anytime.

“Are we not going to the market today to sell the pigs?”

“No. We’ll go to the market tomorrow since it would be weird if we could sell game animals every day.”

The brothers then started playing the board game. Since Robert and Luke were slow enough, It gave Ezekiel time to plan his next move.

Tomorrow, he would sell one of the boars, the smaller one and it would probably fetch him 70 to 80 coppers. Then he would inquire about a tutor who could teach him how to read and write. After that, he would roam the market again so he could get an idea of what was the best item he could purchase from his system shopping site that he could sell without arousing any suspicion.

He needed coins since more spells meant that Ezekiel would be able to defend himself better just in case. More coins would also allow him and his brothers to live a better life in the forest. They couldn’t leave this place yet since he was still too young and too little but at least with good nutrition, he knew that they would become stronger soon.

While he was planning he was also rolling the dice and playing the board game when it was his turn so his younger brothers were entertained.

He continued planning his next step. He thought about purchasing faux jewelry since Ezekiel saw them on the system shopping site and he found a necklace and a pair of earrings set for 1 copper coin. It was made of fake gold and was used as costume jewelry. Of course, he would admit to the merchant that it was fake gold and that the jewelry was used by his mother when she was alive for special events. He could tell the Jewelry merchant that it was the only thing that was left to him by his mother. It could probably fetch a silver or two and that kind of profit would be huge.

Unfortunately, Ezekiel could probably use the jewelry-selling excuse twice or thrice and after that, it would probably make the merchants would be suspicious.

The problem with selling items and earning coins was people still considered him a powerless orphan and they would assume that they could take away things from him without any issues. The only way for him and his brothers to be safe was to display their power but he still didn’t know the status of magic in this world. There was a chance that magic was some sort of taboo thing that could arouse the whole town to pursue him and burn him at the stake so the best plan that he could do right now was to find a teacher so he could gather more information.

Another money-making idea that he could do was to use his access to the Internet to produce unique items that he could sell just like that anime about a transmigrator who produced cheap paper to sell made from the bark of trees.

That meant that there were two important points that Ezekiel would need to consider. His lack of information and his lack of power, at least in the minds of the villagers.

When he checked the time, it was already around three in the afternoon so he told his brothers that they should play something else. The two young boys agreed with him and they immediately ran off outside to play.

The good thing about the map feature was when he opened it using his search bar, he and his brothers were indicated on the map as green arrowheads and he was thankful for that since that meant he would know his brothers’ location anytime he checked the map but he did follow them outside so he could look at them while he was browsing the system shopping site and planning his next move.
