“Yu, comb my hair.”
When choosing her rooms, Yurine was not even asked where she wanted to stay. She was simply given the most comfortable bedroom in the Virgo Cathedral. The room Yurine was given was the room where her mother once stayed.
Yu had chosen a room that he could use as a study, and it was in a great location where he could quickly catch up with everyone in the cathedral, especially Yurine, in case of trouble.
Of course, Yurine wasn't about to let him sleep in his room.
Since the carriage they traveled in only had seats for one person, Yurine had to sleep alone and Yu had gotten used to sleeping alone.
But judging from Yurine's behavior earlier, she would want to sleep together again. And he had no problem with that, in fact he would have liked that.
They unpacked, chatted a bit, and when the sun was about to set, they decided to relax with a bath before dinner.
Because they were on the road all the time, they didn't have a chance to bathe comfortably, and since their stopover in Libra was only for the day, they couldn't bathe there either.
The bathing experience in the First World was gold. In Rolderhelm they were working for the comfort of the people and there he would have given silver to that experience, but on the road it was impossible for him to have both experiences.
Since they did not have the luxury to spend the water as they wished, they had to be content with washing their entire bodies with two buckets of heated water. Sometimes they even shared a single bucket.
Yu was excited to be able to bathe again after a really tiring journey, to be able to get into the water again, and when he found out that there was a bathhouse here, he wanted to try what it was like, but Yurine told him to wash herself and took Yu away from his dreams for a while.
He had bathed Yurine before, and she occasionally asked for such things. Yu didn't want to offend her, but he couldn't wait to get into the bathhouse as quickly as possible, now that he had a chance to wash properly after bathing in a bucket of water.
When he told her to ask Sivina and Ana to do it, Yurine refused as if she had been insulted and insisted that he do it. After some persistence Yu did as Yurine asked, and now Yurine wanted her hair combed.
“Stand in front of the fire.”
Yurine sat on the couch opposite the fireplace while Yu picked up a comb and stood behind her, gently combing her white hair.
“This little lady loves her butler very much.”
“I'm not an unlovable person.”
Entering the room behind them, Sivina approached the fireplace and offered to comb Yurine's hair. Yu shook his head and refused.
“Well, do you want me to braid your hair?” Sivina asked.
“That can happen, because now I have to wash myself.”
Sivina pulled up a chair next to Yurine. She too had taken a bath and Yu could smell her scent.
“It smells so good.”
Sivina began to comb her wet silvery hair. Yu was behind her as she turned her face to the fire, and when she tossed her hair in front of her, Yu could see the nape of Sivina's neck.
“Girls are attractive when their hair is wet. The back of her neck is also attractive for some reason... It's not for some reason, it's because I'm a pervert.”
Sivina had kissed him today. Yu wasn't going to lie, she was a pretty girl and he sometimes fantasized about her, but he never imagined that something like this would happen.
“Isn't it the main thing with Sivina, though? She probably wasn't thinking about that when she did it. And even if she was, I can't do such things.”
He did not want to enter into relationships that would strain him emotionally and tie him to this world in any way.
“Yurine, it's over.”
“Thank you, Yu.”
Yu put down the comb, kissed Yurine on the top of her head and left her with Sivina to get ready for the baths.
---
“Finally. Although part of me says don't look for a change, go take your normal bath, but I've never seen a bathhouse before, I wonder what it's like.”
When he entered the marbled room, he was completely disappointed. Here again he had to pour water over his head with a bucket and a basin. This was not what he had in mind and would not add much to his previous style of bathing.
“Yo... Oh man... I remember now, if I had known, I would never have come here. I thought it was one of those with a pool-like thing inside, but it was called a spa... Damn it, I want to put my body in water.”
After taking one last look at his disappointment, he turned to the door to leave the bathhouse.
“So this is what it's like here.”
“Human homes are very different, captain.”
Kigaro and Dimen appeared at the door as soon as Yu turned around. Tobias followed them hesitantly.
“This is a gay place, a fag place. I can't bathe in the same place with men. It's okay if girl to girl, but man to man is against the code. I'm leaving this place, right now.”
Yu had taboos he could never break and principles he didn't want to go against. He could not accept bathing in the same place as other men. For this reason alone, he had paid more at Rolderhelm for a room with a bathtub.
“Where are you going? You're not wet at all.”
“I don't like here.”
He was about to walk past them and leave when Kigaro grabbed him by the shoulder and stopped him from leaving.
“Fuck! They're gonna fuck me?!”
Yu's brain stopped working after Kigaro grabbed him by the shoulder. Why had Kigaro grabbed him? He didn't want to be lose his ass.
“Tobias is here too,” said Kigaro.
“Hah~ Is that so? Well, that's good to know. I've been looking forward to going to the bathhouse with Tobias.”
It wasn't as if he and Tobias already had a friendship, why would they have cited him as a reason to keep Yu here?

“Kigaro, what are you talking about?”
“We're going to have some man-to-man time, that's what warriors need to bond. Everything in order of turns, and tomorrow you want it.”
“WHAT THE FUCK DO I WANT?”
While roaron was learning things about his culture that he was not eager to know, Dimen's words brought up disgusting images that he did not want to think about.
“Since I'm not a roaron...” he said, trying to control his anger. “Since I'm not a roaron, I don't need to be interested in warrior culture. And you brought the boy here by force, let him go.”
It didn't take any special talent to realize that Tobias had been forced here by two half-lions. He must have been someone who, like Yu, felt shy about bathing.
“Yoo, we don't do things like that.” Kigaro let go of Yu and slapped Tobias on the back. “When we invited him to mingle with us, we realized he was too shy to say yes, so we brought him along to boost his confidence. You have to be understanding.”
“That's not what it means to be understanding, Kigaro.”
The roarons were more dominant, even if Yu didn't want them to be, so they took them in, sat them down on the marble and started filling buckets with hot water from the taps.
“Mr. Valarfin, I wonder if your left arm...”
“Ah? Uh... It's like a disease, it's nothing important.”
The Roarons knew about Yu's left arm, but Tobias was seeing him for the first time. He brushed it off without telling him the truth.
“Look at them.”
The Roarons poured buckets of hot water over each other's heads. Kigaro's black mane was short, so there was little change, but Dimen's red mane was soaked and covered his face, and they both laughed as if the sight was very funny.
“Let's at least look on the bright side. At least we don't go in here naked like in Japanese places, we have loincloths on. I couldn't bear to go and see a roaron dick.”
Dimen and Kigaro started hitting each other while laughing. Yu might have thought they were fighting, but he had seen half-lions display such behavior while bathing.
“And you clean each other,” Dimen said.
“No need.”
Yu would not bathe another man and he would not accept to be bathed by another man. He was already going against his taboos just by standing here, he couldn't go any further.
He took the bucket of hot water and poured it over his head.
“It's hot and fuck my mind for coming here.”
He poured more water on himself, wetting himself all over, then began to scrub himself. He was already polluting his soul by standing here, he should at least go out with a clean body.
“When we went to that church, there was one person with pointed ears. Why were her ears pointed?” Kigaro asked.
“Are you that isolated?”
Although he came from a different world, he knew more about this world than these two roaron men who had been here for thirty years.
“Because she was a half-elf. But pureblood elves have longer ears, because Lucia and Lucie had long ears compared to him.”
“Who are they?”
“Two elves we met before we met you.”
When he picked up the soap and smelled it, he realized that it smelled better than the ones in Lucia's inn.
“Why do elves have long ears?” Dimen asked.
“God made it that way.”
The way they asked questions like four-year-olds made him see them as two-meter babies. The Roarons were extremely curious and excited about this new world they had entered.
“When I was little, my mother told me that if I misbehaved, the gods would pull my ears and I would look like an elf.”
Tobias was giving Yu information about the world that he was hearing for the first time.
He liked discovering these little superstitions because they made this world more real, even if they were small details.
“I won't say that elf ears look good on boys, but they look good on girls. Maybe I think so because I'm a guy.”
When he first discovered the culture called hentai in highs chool, he became obsessed with elf hentai. Elf ears had a certain charm, and Yu loved it.
“So you find that girl's ears attractive? You can breed with that half-elf girl, and your children will look like her.”
“That's not how it works, Kigaro!”
Even if he found her beautiful, he couldn't go and ask her to breed. I mean, even if he didn't ask exactly like that, he knew that he could do it if he wanted to, but he didn't want to do it.
Biology, which the roarons were unaware of, talked about dominant genes, and Yu did not know which type of ear would be dominant.
The ears of the child born when elves and humans mated were elf-like, but would the same be true for half-elves and humans?
“You can't just go and breed with someone because you find them beautiful. When you are in the human world, throw away these primitive ideas and try to keep up with humans.”
In the brief silence that followed, he took a moment to think and decided to correct himself, realizing that it was not in his interest to keep up with the humans.
Humans were liars, egotistical, treacherous, untrustworthy, manipulative and aggressive. Yu, as a human being, was aware that he had these traits and so he knew that people were like that.
“Or don't keep up with people, just keep up with me.”
They could see other people's bad traits, but Yu could hide his bad traits as much as possible and be a better example.
Dimen nodded. “Valarfin is right, and I think we need to adapt.”
“Finally, they're saying something decent.”
“It may not be pleasing to them that he should breed with another when he already has a woman.”
Not even two seconds had passed after Yu thought about it when Dimen made him regret thinking about it.
“When you say woman, which woman do you mean?”
“The one with silver hair. The silver-haired one kissed you.”
“No, Dimen. She is not my woman.” Did he wish she was? Technically he did, but that was another matter. “It's just that Sivina was a little too close.”
“Hey, we're just men being men here. You don't have to be embarrassed about stuff like that, you can tell us.”
Kigaro stood up and faced Yu.
“I am not embarrassed. She is not my woman, I don't want to breed with her and I have no romantic feelings for her.”
There was a good chance that the part about not wanting to breed was a lie. He would have wanted to be with both of them if he could, but it was still true that he had no romantic feelings for any of them.
He didn't think he could have romantic feelings for anyone anyway. Although he occasionally thought of it as an adventure and had the idea of having a waifu, he probably wouldn't do it if the world granted him his wish and gave him a wonderful main female character.
Of course, if Sivina or Ana had said they wanted to breed with him, he would have thought about it, but that was another matter and he probably would have refused again.
This was because he believed that he would succeed in turning back time.
He had already discarded this world. What would happen to his determination to turn back time if he built a life in this world that he had discarded, that he no longer cared about, if he loved someone, if he won someone's love, if he started a relationship and kept it going?
Would he want to turn back time, knowing that the people he loved would forget him? Or would he use them for self-gratification, just because if time was turned back, the people who loved him would forget everything?
He was selfish, he had done a lot of selfish things before, but he didn't want to do this. He didn't want to selfishly do something that would bind a person to him just to satisfy himself, and he didn't want to upset someone, even if when he turned back time he wouldn't have been upset at all.
“And even if time is turned back, I...”
He wanted to deny it every day, he didn't want to believe it, but to his surprise, he never shed a tear for it.
Yu would die and devastate the people who loved him.
So he would not consider being with anyone, not in this world and not after he rewound time. Yurine already loved him, and he was afraid to even imagine how she would be devastated when he died, and how she would devastate others on top of that?
Yu could love neither a woman nor an ordinary friend. Especially if his love was returned, Yu Valarfin would be bound to the world and his determination to turn back time would be shaken.
Or he would have to use her love for his own gain and it would shatter his pride. Although he told himself from time to time that he would commit any sin to turn back time, he still didn't know the limits of what he could do.
Yu was indecisive, confused.
He poured the hot water over his head. He lowered his violet eyes to the ground.
“What's wrong?” asked Kigaro. He was still standing in front of him.
“There's no problem.”
Kigaro leaned over and looked at Yu's face. Yu kept his eyes on the ground to avoid making eye contact with him.
“Do you really love those girls?”
“I don't know, Kigaro. I don't want to hear it.”
“So what are we going to talk about? That's what men talk about, war and women.” Dimen stood up and squeezed Kigaro's shoulders.
“This is roaron talk.”
So, how would Yu start a conversation? If he wanted to start a conversation, what would he talk about? He couldn't remember how he had conversed with his friends in the past, what could he talk to people about?
Usually, when he spoke to someone, he would pretend to listen to the other person, wait for his turn to speak, and when it was his turn, he would tell them about something that had happened to him. He would also take reports and tell others what to do.
“Seriously, what do friends talk about?”
“So what if this is the roaron conversation? What else can we talk about man to man? If there's something you want to talk about, say it.”
“I don't know that either, Dimen. There is nothing I want to talk about.”
He fell silent and as he took the shampoo and washed his hair, the roarons started talking about the person Tobias was going to breed with, giving him roaron advice that he could never apply to humans.
