Chapter 41 – A Tattoo Of A Frog

Chapter 41 – A Tattoo Of A Frog

Ma Qian was knocked out cold, but before he could go to the netherworld, the young woman healed him by using some healing spirit formations. This was unheard of in the real word, because there was no one capable of doing such things, nor was there any record that said it was possible. This young woman had ancient spirit formations that others would kill to obtain.

15 minutes later, Ma Qian regained his consciousness, he could see a pretty young woman in front of him. He thought he was already in heaven, but a few words from the young woman made him realized he wasn’t dead yet.

“Disgraceful man, stand up,” the young woman said.

“You’re the disgraceful one….to kiss me on the lips without permission….shameless!” Ma Qian quickly talked back.

The young woman could only roll her eyes. She didn’t want to argue with this hopeless man in front of him.

“Listen, you will help me to get my other soul spark, then I will let you go. Now go and search for it,” the young woman explained before transforming into a sparrow that was forcfully tattooed on Ma Qian’s arm.

“Ahhh, what is this? Get this thing off of me,” Ma Qian yelled out in a panicked.

“Shut up! This is the only way I can lead you to my other soul spark,” the young woman said. Even though she had turned into a tattooed sparrow on Ma Qian’s arm, they could still communicate to each other.

Ma Qian, on the other hand, was depressed. He went out to look for treasures in this mission, instead he got a sparrow tattoo. At least he should’ve got a dragon or a tiger tattoo or something more ferocious instead of this little puny bird, he thought to himself. Within the group, he didn’t outshine another, he was not weaker than others nor was he stronger than the others. But the rest possessed something special about them. Xiang Jiao was a monk that had an intimidating hair and a huge nirvana ring on his back. Lin Yang exuded an aura of nobility and was quite the handsome man. Ma Qian, himself, had above average looks but that was it! As for Ye Tian, the first time he met him, he felt Ye Tian was a prince or at least an extremely high nobility, but nowadays, Ye Tian looked more like a homeless person with that plain and ragged robes and somewhat messy hair. Not to mention in terms of battle strength, no one could beat Ye Tian. Now Ma Qian could stand out from the rest, but not they way where it would make him proud.

“We need to get to get back to the pond first, I’ve got something for you,”

“What? Wait….I don’t even know your name.”

“Fang Meng.”

“Fang Meng…Fang Meng…what a nice name.”

“Shut up and go now.”

After they arrived at the pond, Fang Meng instructed him to leap at the floating flower. Once he landed on the floating flower, Fang Meng whispered an ancient language.

Swoooppp.

The surface of the floating flower separated into two. Beneath the floating flower was actually a tube that connected to the lower levels.  While falling, Ma Qian was in a panic and screamed like a girl again. He thought he would end up in a death pit, but he actually landed on another level filled with beautiful mansions and lakes.  This level was for the upper classes or for the powerful nobility, which apparently the Fang family also resided in.

Ma Qian walked out only to see the tube he just came out of was actually built inside a huge tree, this must have been a secret tube. In front of him was a mansion decorated with sparrows and a beautiful garden, but there was no door to be seen.

“Is this your home? How do we get in? What do you want to get anyway?” Ma Qian annoyingly asked questions one after another.

“See that little waterfall right there? Enter it, then turn left, then turn right, keep going until you see a dead end” Fang Meng casually said.

Ma Qian did as he was instructed. Once he entered the waterfall, he appeared at a huge grand hall of the mansion. He was mesmerized by the scale and rare materials decorating this mansion. Every place he passed by , the walls were decorated by different plants and flowers he had never seen before, which enticed him to pull out all those rare plants and flowers into his storage ring. He saw Ye Tian was experimenting with some alchemy, and these rare herbs might help him create more powerful potions. Fang Meng cringed when she saw Ma Qian happily razing everything he saw, but she could only sigh since no one else will likely use them. Once they arrived at the dead end, Fang Meng whispered another ancient language. Suddenly, the floor started beaming with endless light, Ma Qian’s figure started to disappear, only to reappear at another secret room. The room had 5 huge statues depicting warriors with heads of wild beasts. These statues gave off a noble and a terrifying aura that could kill immortal cultivators with just their glare.

Fang Meng flew out and turned into sparrow again flying towards some of the statues. She whispered more ancient languages, in which one of the statue moved by nodding in approval. The statue then turned to look at Ma Qian.

“Ma Qian come here.”

The moment Ma Qian walked over, one of the eye of the statue glowed brightly, When the brightness dimmed, Ma Qian felt a sting of burnt skin on his arm. He was horrified again when he looked at this arm. This time there was a tattoo of a frog! A tattoo of a sparrow on his right arm, and a tattoo of a frog on his left arm!

“Ahh, what did you do to me?” Ma Qian yelled out. He was really depressed now. He could only imagine by this time, he’ll be the absolute clown in the group.

“Relax, it’s a treasure. This will help you in your battle against more powerful foes. All you need to do is summon his name and he will come and help you.”

“Fuck that, why can’t that tiger statue help me….or that wolf…..or that bear.”

“…..I did try, but none of them were willing to help you except uncle frog,” Fang Meng replied with a sense of disappointment. Ma Qian became gloomy after hearing this. Those statues must be blinded by ignorance not to see that he himself was quite the genius.

“Don’t worry Ma Qian, uncle frog in not weaker than any of them,” Fang Meng continued. She wanted to brighten him up after seeing that gloomy face of his.

“Let’s go back.”

As they came out of the mansion, they could see Ye Tian and the others arrived by using the same tube as Ma Qian did. This surprised Ma Qian and Fang Meng.

“How did you know there was a tube here?” Ma Qian asked curiously.

“We’re not like you. We’re geniuses.” Ye Tian replied casually while looking around to see if there were any treasures they could take. Of course, the truth was that Ye Tian actually had an abnormally high capability. Before any of them descended to this level, he actually sensed that there was a spirit formation far away from him. He went to find the others before coming to the place where Ma Qian was actually battling Fang Meng. In fact, they actually arrived a lot earlier, but they only hid to scout Fang Meng’ s ability. Her extremely powerful spirit formations made the others hesitated to come out, so they continued to stay low and followed Ma Qian quietly.

Not wanting to answer anymore of Ma Qian’s questions, everyone else ignored him and started separating again to different places for more rampaging activities. A little while later, the whole gang rejoined at one of the tubes. They found some worthy items but nothing significant; thus, they decided to descend further to the lower levels. The next level they found another military base along with other sects, but the place here was much worse off than the other levels. Every level they’ve explored to had some type of damage caused by the invasion war, but this level had a feeling of an apocalypse. A long time ago, an extremely deadly battle must have happened here that transformed the whole terrain to become a lifeless desert….
