Chapter 38 – Rock, Paper, Scissors

Chapter 38 – Rock, Paper, Scissors

After Ma Qian made a secret agreement with the ladies of the house, he hung out for a little longer to gather more information. Lin Yang, on the other hand, was too innocent. This is the second time he’s been here, but he’s still blushing whenever he sees the beautiful ladies. Every single time a young lady of the house made eye contact with Lin Yang, he instantly looked down not knowing what to do.

“Lin Yang, I can ask one of the ladies to help you out, how about it?” Ma Qian said. While he was gathering information, he was still able to pay close attention to Lin Yang’s behavior.

“Really….no…no…I can’t do this,” Lin Yang replied curiously.

“I can’t guarantee, but there is a good chance that I can make it happen. Why? Don’t you want to experience it?” Ma Qian devilishly replied.

“No. This….this is not right…it’s inappropriate and despicable to do such things to women,” Lin Yang countered with a sense of moral conduct. Although he didn’t believe himself to be a great gentleman, he did take love and marriage a serious matter that would impact him throughout his life. That’s why he never tried to fool around with women that he has no feelings for.

“Tschhhh….Pussy!” Ma Qian said. Now he wants to dare Lin Yang into his scheme.

“What! No, I’m not scared, it’s just…”

“Just what?”

“I believe…..I believe in true love and matters such as this violates my principles.”

“Love? You don’t think you can fall in love with one of the lady of the house?”

“No, it’s not that. I just believe that a man has to get to know the woman first before you know….”

“A real man needs to satisfy his thirst!”

“That is a man that has no control over himself. Temptation will be his downfall!” Lin Yang angrily countered.

Ma Qian was speechless. That would imply he was a despicable man who couldn’t control his desires. His mood changed drastically from then on, so he decided to focus on gathering more information rather than helping Lin Yang. He had no more desire to talk to Lin Yang. A while later, they returned to the cave. Ma Qian never spoke a word again. Lin Yang didn’t know how he offended Ma Qian. He felt disappointed that their relationship quickly crumbled after a wonderful beginning.

It was still early in the night, Ma Qian finally completed his final draft of the map and started making copies to sell in the future. Ye Tian could only admire him. The way Ma Qian was able to create a map, it would create a high value for its customers. He also did it with so much ease, which others assumed that it was an innate skill that he possessed since he was born.

Lin Yang feeling bored decided to ask some questions to Ye Tian.

“Ye Tian, where did you come from?”

“A small village.” The one that answered wasn’t Ye Tian, but Xiang Jiao. He was still laying on the bed, but he could still speak clearly.

Lin Yang looked at Ye Tian only to see him nod as the answer was a fact. He continued asking, “Who taught you on your martial dao and skills?”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Father.” It was Xiang Jiao again that answered. Ye Tian nodded again.

“Do you have siblings?”

“Yes.”

“What’s our plan?”

“How come you don’t attend a famous sect or school? Wouldn’t that provide the best resources, after all, you’re far stronger than anyone your age, so have you decided to continue with this journey?”

Every single time Lin Yang asked Ye Tian a question, it was Xiang Jiao who immediately answered for him. Everyone felt a bit annoyed inside. Why was Xiang Jiao so talkative today? This was in everybody’s mind. Only Xiang Jiao knew the reason…..that is he was bored as hell having forced to lie on the bed the whole day. Memorizing was his forte, whether it was Buddha scripts, martial scrolls, or anything else, he could memorize everything quickly and easily. He was bored, because he already memorized every pictures of the karma sutra, and now he had nothing to read! But of course, he didn’t bother to tell this to anyone. Nevertheless, the team got to know a bit more of each other after this night.

Afterwards, the rest of the team reviewed the new map of the city that Ma Qian just created. They all planned on completing another difficult mission tomorrow in order to obtain higher rewards, that way, they can stay somewhere nice instead of this primitive shit hole cave. This time, they were much more ambitious than before because now they have four strong fighters.

Their mission was to obtain a treasure called “the eyes of the treasure fox” from an ancient ruin that was filled with unknown wild beasts and traps. This was a very difficult mission even for infinite dao cultivators, but Ye Tian and the crew believed they could get the job done. They drafted a hypothesis on a formation battle that would balance their strengths and weaknesses.

The next morning, everyone were in top condition, even Xiang Jiao had recovered the sore pains he felt the day before. They summoned the falcons, but one of the falcons appeared to be in bad shape. This was the same falcon that was beaten by the crew when Xiang Jiao was drunk. The crew still had some grudge when they saw this same falcon, so they summoned another one and stored the injured one to continue to recover on its own. They flew off towards the east for several hours until they reached a flat desert.

“That’s weird, according to the mission, it should be around here.”

“There’s no sign of a ruin. It’s just a desert.”

“Hmmmm, maybe we should go down to explore more closely. Be careful of the desert beast.”

Everyone went down and searched for any clues. It took them almost an hour until Ye Tian bumped into an invisible wall. Ye Tian assumed that this wall was activated by a spirit of formation. He used his spirit power to check if he could deactivate the spirit formation, but he couldn’t do it. He called the others to come by to see if they had a better chance of breaking through this spirit formation. Luckily, Ma Qian was quite knowledgeable on spirit formations. He had a knack of understanding the foundations of different spirit formations, an ability that he often compared with drawing a city map. Every city was different in its terrain, road systems, and overall network that connected to its center core. A great spiritist needed to have a high understanding on how each intricacies were related to the center core, that’s why Ma Qian was able to understand both map making and spirit formations easily.

Ma Qian’s spirit power was actually stronger than Ye Tian, as he gathered different formation to counter the wall formation. After 10 minutes, Ma Qian broke through the spirit formation where the wall started to become visible. Once Lin Yang touched it, the wall broke apart and fell to ashes. Within the wall, there was a tube that went deep down to an unknown palace, but no one wanted to go first when they saw this. Who knows where the tube would lead to?

“Rock, paper, scissors…whoever loses goes first.”

While Ye Tian was saying this, Lin Yang was still looking at the tube. This was also the time where Ye Tian showed a gesture of rock to signal the others, in which they all nodded. Lin Yang looked back to face them and nodded as well.

“Shit…..” Lin Yang cursed after he lost the game.  The others only smiled due to Lin Yang’s naivety. He took out his sword to prepare for the worst and dove in the tube. After a few seconds, no noise was heard.  They played the game again where Ma Qian lost this time. He grudgingly stared at the others then dove in as well. But after a second, Ma Qian started screaming like a little girl! Ye Tian and Xiang Jiao looked at each other as they were about to leave the area.

What just happened? Were they in danger? Did Ye Tian and Xiang Jiao decided to abandon the others?
