Chapter seventeen: "CHEATING!!"

Chapter seventeen: "CHEATING!!"

On the west continent, Known as the Geo continent as Geo energy was the most common there. A Family house known as the Wooden-Thunder family, also received a message from a long ascended Relative. It was a short warning of a coming danger and a long complicated scroll of plans for an S grade Heavenly Treasure known as the Phoenix's Blessing. This treasure would create a powerful barrier of energy around a six million mile stretch of land, and the the message stated it would be able to hold off the coming threat better than any other barrier because of it’s special properties. although it wouldn’t last forever it would at least give them a few thousand more years of survival then the rest of primeway would get. The only problem was that the requirements to build the Phoenix’s blessing would all take Heavenly treasures and S grade treasures, and the power it would take to put it together would take all of their elders, power houses, and high realm Wonderkinds almost ten years to accomplish. On top of that the hardest part would be the last ingredient. The Phoenix's blessing would be built like an alter, and to activate it would take the death and blood Sacrifice of over nine different Types of Phoenix. Some of which were deity level beasts, and all of which were Extremely rare and precious. The Wooden-Thunder family held a meeting with the highest ranking members and most powerful Acolytes to discus how they were going to this monumental task.

"We've located three of the phoenix’s we require Supreme Elder." One of the branch heads Informed the young looking Avatar Realm Channeler at the head of the long wooden table. The room they were sitting in was lit brightly by powerful Runes drawn on the ceiling that made the gold adornments and silver accents gleam. The Wooden-Thunder Family was one of the most powerful and wealthy on the Geo continent, and they had gotten that way by their unstoppable Ambition. They valued power above life itself, and were loyal to the family name regardless of death or danger. Stepping on anything or anyone that got in the way of lifting the family’s glory to the highest of heights. "Good." The Supreme elder nodded. "what about the Gold headed Phoenix, and the God of storm phoenix?" These were the two Rarest breads. The Gold head was a Deity realm phoenix with the element of Earth. It's head was made of a special spirit gold that was worth Fortunes on any market. and It was also one of the most powerful beasts on Primeway, with the highest blood quality a phoenix could have here before ascending. The god of storm phoenix on the other hand was a fluke of nature that rarely ever showed it’s face. A one of a kind of all the Phoenix bloodlines. most beasts as they Gained power and their blood purified with energy, would naturally conform into a higher version of themselves, changing to become more like their ancestor, the great Deity beast they came from. They weren't born in their pure form and it took millennia to get there. But to fly in the face of this natural way, The God of storm phoenix was already born in its perfect form. no matter what cultivation level it was at, it had the same blood and same form it would always have, similar to how humans never changed no matter how powerful they became. It was an extremely Rare beast to say the least, from it’s birth to it’s ascension, it would stay hidden in secret areas no’one could find. No money or influence could get a family one of these birds, only thievery or sheer luck. The Family's high Treasury keeper coughed into his hand. "Well sir. as we all know those are The hardest beasts to find on the list. The last God of Storm phoenix the family has heard of on all of primeway was captured by the Greenwood family a med sized family on the chaos continent. With great influence in their region." The Supreme elder grinned a vicious Smile. "Well then they've done the hard work for us, ether take it or buy it. This is more important then Family Relations or money." He waved it off. But the Treasury keeper continued. "We would sir only... they bonded it to one of their Young Channelers. A very talented young Girl. And they have been known to get incredibly protective over their young." The Supreme elder's smile didn't drop. "Her blood will do then. Forget about retaliation and just get it done." When someone bonded to a Beast their blood began to flow with the same purity and strength of their soul beast. The rest of the Family heads nodded. And the matter was settled.

Gabe had shown up with both of his green bands and let into the Stadium along with forty nine other contestants. There had been nine Channelers that had also made the cut, but were removed to keep the number for the last round at Fifty. The reason given to them that they were too old. One of them was forty one years of age, which showed a very low Cultivation rate. He might have been powerful for his level but he was no talent and wouldn’t be useful. Most Channelers passed the Apprentice Realm in less than ten years after reaching it, anything above that was very slow. Leaving the majority of apprentice realms at younger than thirty. Colin was 29 and would also have passed the apprentice realm if not for being stuck on the chaos continent where life energy was so uncommon and hard tho Channel.

The Stadium was filled with noise and the stands were filled with spectators. Today's fights would be held on a single raised platform in the middle of the field, and would be carried out one by one so the crowd could watch them all. The contestants stood in a line near the entrance waiting for instruction while eyeing each other. two Channelers were chosen to come forward and battle by the elder on the stage who was the acting referee. a Small women who was a level Nine Apprentice, and had long dark hair reaching down to her legs stepped up to the call, and a light skinned man with a nose ring who was only one level below her stepped up as well. They were led the middle of the Raised battle ring and the shield went up to signal the start. The crowd cheered to see a good show and all the elders were watching from many lower families in the city. These lower families were big influences in the city but not anywhere else, and would gladly take the scraps left over by the Golden-chaos family if they saw any Good channelers that no’one wanted. As the fight began it was the man to attack first, almost exactly as the shield appeared around them, and the woman was caught off guard by his strength when he slammed into her with a powerful martial Kick. Even though he was a Level behind her he had more raw power. Meaning he likely had at least one powerful Strength trait from his cultivation. The crowd shouted and applauded as the fight went on and both Channelers summoned their Soul-Beasts. their fight was Visible even from the furthest seats in the stands because of the Runes that were drawn in the special ring. Even from half a mile away you would still be able to see clearly what was happening. And even when the contestants moved to quick for the human eye these runes would slow it down for those watching to see. The battle lasted ten minutes, and the crowd was roaring as the Man won with a sneer on his face, knocking the women with an expert kick to the head that put her to sleep. their beasts and moves were dispelled by the shield as it went down and the women was carried off stage quickly.

Death in the ring was not impossible, or even uncommon even with the expensive runes to protect those inside. There were rumors that over four hundred deaths had occurred in this year's tests alone. But the numbers were never handed out by the Family house or city officials during these kind of tests. Gabe had taken a bit of caution not to kill anyone while in a match, but even he wasn't sure he already hadn’t. Some of his foes had taken brutal hits by his strength and he never saw what happened to them after they were carted away. Finally after eleven other matches Gabe was called up to fight. His opponent was a Slightly chubby Man with an extended belly and an arrogant smile. He was obviously feeling lucky to have been picked to fight Gabe, as he was a Level six Apprentice and Gabe was just a level one. But his broken tooth smile and cheep clothes were enough to prove he wasn’t very a very luck prone guy. They were led into the ring as the Crowd called out and whistled preparing for entertainment. The matches before this, except for the first one had all been won within five minutes and were really getting the crowd hyped for all the impressive fighters. The shield went up and the Man pounced the moment it did, obviously wanting to show his strength by making this battle as quick as possible as well. The Golden-Chaos family was watching closely, looking for the ones they would choose to offer Acolyte contracts. As much as being an Acolyte was judged by the common weak of the world, it was a valued thing few would pass up if they didn’t already have a backing. it could after all procure them everything they needed and wanted to Become a powerful Channeler. Probably allowing them to ascend one day, as most without a strong background ether never ascended or took over a million years to do so even if they were talented. And a million years was a lot of time for something to go wrong. A block could be a death sentence for most Channelers when they got to the higher Realms, as the more powerful you were the stronger and harder your blocks became. The more expensive materials became to help with those blocks. And The more dangerous the competition between Channelers to take them.

Gabe's speed was at least twice as fast as this man, and he jumped out of the way and slammed his fist into the back of the man’s neck, throwing him across the ring and Into the shield. The opponent recovered quickly but was both surprised and dazed. The crowed cheered. Liking the underdog comeback. Gabe didn't give the man much time to attack again and summoned his death cloud. The cloud flowed out of his mouth and he had full control of it as he began to push it towards the man. The Channeler took a defensive position and released a move of his own. A Poison wind. Gabe was a bit surprised by the element, and the crowd also reared slightly back from the poison nobody was voting for the smug man anymore and they all cheered for Gabe to beat him. the green winds the man used didn't stop Gabe’s cloud from moving. He wasn't sure if it was his strength or the pill that had made his Soul-Beasts stronger but his Death cloud was much more powerful then it should be at his level and more deadly than any of his other moves. He pushed it forward with expert control and it didn’t even slow when as it plowed through the poison wind. When the cloud reached the man who was straining to put more power into his move, the Channeler suddenly realized his mistake and tried to run around the Purple Death cloud, but it was to late. The cloud bellowed out all around him and backed him up against the shield. Gabe pushed just until the man's face was engulfed causing him to cough up blood immediately as the cloud entered through his pores and and went directly through his blood stream. Gabe let go of his control, allowing the cloud to dissipate. The man never stopped gagging and slowly suffering as he fell onto his knees, the white of his eyes no no longer white at all, just completely blood shot, his tears mixed with blood poring down his face. Gabe just stood there looking completely passive as the man choked and then fainted from this single encounter with the cloud. The Crowed had gone mostly silent after watching and the shield went down as the man passed out. The man was rushed away to the Healers and Gabe was led off of the field by an elder who mumbled something about Death channelers being just as bad as poison channelers.

Gabe was guaranteed a prize now. As the top twenty-five were to receive a reward and he had made it into the top after just that one fight. There would only be four more rounds now, and depending on which round you were eliminated in would decide the Prize you won. The bottom prize for those who lost in the next round was a mid grade Beast purse. A treasure much like a space pouch, but one that used runes to protect the Beast you put inside and keep them alive, since a space pouch would kill anything with a heart beat due to it’s time distortion. This had many uses and were a must have for beast catchers who caught beasts and sold them to new Channelers who were looking for a bond. The next prize above that was a Shield scroll, a one time use protection device that would produce a four hour shield around the user that could protect them from Master level attacks. After that was a Rune scope. A folding telescope that would allow someone to see thirty times farther then they Normally could. This was also useful for Alchemy, as some recipes required very microscopic amounts of materials and this scope could be adjusted to see in the microscopic realm. The Final four competitors would all get a Low grade copper phoenix Feather. This feather could be eaten and would increase a Channeler's Draw for a month. The second place winner would also get a Darkness flame. A small candle that when lit while cultivating would endow a dark Element Channeler with his own dark flame. This was a low form of Dark fire, but was still very Powerful and coveted by Dark Element Channelers who needed more fighting power. The final prize for the winner was a Neptune Anklet. This anklet held a strong Water element move that when activated blasted a jet of Water powerful enough to harm Master realm Channelers. The piece was a powerful weapon that could be used more then just once, and was only created by mixing high grade materials and energies plus it could only be made by a strong elder realm Channeler with expert rune skills. It was worth roughly what a long distance Teleport scroll would cost, but Gabe didn't plan on selling it if he got it. Something like that could save him from a bullet in the future if he ran into big trouble.

Out of the twenty five contestants one was picked to skip the next two round, and that one just happened to be Gabe. Wile the others fought hard to move into the final rounds he just sat and watched like a member of the surrounding crowd. The pool of contestants shrunk from 24, not including Gabe, to 12, to 6, and Finally to three. All of them had fought hard and were given stamina pills and healed by experts to keep them in good enough condition to fight. Now Gabe was finally called to fight again, he was pretty lucky to have been the one who got to sit things out for two battles, now he was well rested and his rivals were not. Some might call this an unfair advantage, but on primeway it was well known by everyone that the world wasn’t fair. No matter how sheltered you were or how hard you tried to get the win, the universe would always throw you a curve ball that would upset everything you had planned and nothing you could do would change how fair the outcome was. Anyone that could overcome that curve ball and leap over the hurdles of life however would be of even more interest to a family than someone with just a lot of talent, so all Channeler tests had something like this to upset the perfect flow of the matches.

Gabe’s opponent would be a Skilled woman with a Hell frog who had shown more than enough strength to catch the attention of the Golden-chaos family. this fight would be the first in the semi final round. Gabe stepped into the ring with her and the shield went up. The two Channelers stared at each other for a moment neither making the first move. Gabe smiled. "You are an impressive Channeler, I am honoured to fight with you." he bowed but did not lower his head and kept his eyes on her the whole time. She scoffed. "Yes of course. But don't think your time in the benches gives you an advantage. I'm gonna win this thing, not a lucky punk with a Death cloud trait." She took a ready stance and Summoned her Poisonous Hell frog. The beast was a black and green Four foot frog with two massive Blood sucking fangs reaching out of its large mouth. Gabe took a ready stance and prepared his strategy. He'd seen this woman fight Five times in the last two hours. He knew her skills and her weaknesses. One of which was an over cautious back step when she was fighting hand to hand. She retreated too fast, worried about getting hit in the fray of moves. He would use that. But first he had to deal with her frog. He released his death cloud and the Frog didn't even move. It was engulfed and nothing happened. Gabe cursed slightly, he thought this might be a problem. Frog beasts often had resistance to their element far above normal they could often survive where no other could. The cloud would take time to do the damage Gabe needed it to do. And the Woman had purposefully demonstrated that fact to throw him off. She didn't give him time to think hard about it though and charged at him immediately using a speed move called seven Steps of The sperrow which she had practiced non stop since the moment the Channeler tests were announced moths ago. She was so quick she actually got a blow to his stomach before he rolled away and jumped onto his feet using his Life Sucking move. The Faces appeared and the Woman took a fighting stance ready to beat them off but Gabe sent them to the Soul-beast instead. The frog began to lash at them with his tongue destroying some with a Poisonous slash or two but three got through and latched onto his back. He started to jump around and shake, his back being a weakness like it was for most frog beasts. He started using all his moves and power to get them off, his tongue just long enough to reach one of them. Gabe didn't give the women time to help or even watch the attack, he charged at her with his natural increased speed and she blocked his haymaker a second before he floored her with it. His strength however went through her like a shock wave, her blocking arm bruised purple from the single impact she withstood. Gabe pushed his advance with attack after attack just like Matthew had done to him, only his moves weren't as precise and practiced as that woderkind. his speed however made up for his lack of skill. The woman was good at hand to hand, but not as fast at him and could only block while backtracking as fast as she could. He herded her just the way he wanted paying some attention to her frog which was slowing down considerably and becoming useless, even beast summons needed life force to move in the open world. The fear was clear on the woman’s face as she panicked and spent all her energy into trying to dodge and block to keep from getting hit somewhere vital by that strength. Instead of using her control over her Hell frog to make it help with what little power it had, instead of sacrificing one of part of her gaurd to try and break off from this beating, she just frantically tried to survive while Gabe led her to the shield wall. she backed up against it her face contorting as she realized she had nowhere left to go, his fists were moving at incredible speeds and her blocks were slowing down from the throbbing pain they were dishing out. He wasn't using his full speed ether, or his full strength, she was nowhere near as good as matthew so he didn’t have to. As he saw her almost freeze up when she felt the shield behind her. She blocked a few more blows before he grabbed her face and with a hard thrust forward he slammed her head into the barrier, a killing blow that was only softened by the Powerful runes to keep her alive. The shield went down and everything was immediately stopped. The woman was knocked out but Gabe could still tell she was breathing. He walked off the platform to the sound of a very happy Crowd. Who were excited that he didn’t even have to bring out his soul beast to win.

The next fight was between a Tall thin man who’d killed his opponent in the last round, and an ironically short stocky man with a Cyclops giant as his soul best. The pair contrasted completely, with the short one wearing rich and bright garb, and the tall one looking as poor as a street rat in his torn sack like clothes. The fight started well with both men showing off powerful martial skills, and the short man summoning his giant. The tall dark man to everyone's surprise used a Spirit powered punch and killed the Cyclops with one blow to the chest, his face was blank but his dark eyes were filled with burning hate. Hate he was now projecting on his opponent who looked to live a much more posh life. His opponent froze at the show of power and was hit with another spirit powered blow that he couldn’t even seem to see coming. He flew across the ring and fell to his knees grabbing his stomach with a low grown, he looked scared after taking just that one punch. The dark man grinned maliciously and used his Death song again, a move he had used last round that had been the killing blow. It was unnecessary, and everyone knew it the short one looked almost ready to give up the match anyway. But through the deathsong which was a high pitched screech he let forth from his mouth filled with pure energy, his opponent’s right leg exploded from the inside out flowering in a splash of blood and tendons, the runes kept it from killing him immediately, unlike the last much weaker victim who they were unable to protect. This man was just strong enough to survive. barley. The short man screamed like a banshee looking at his leg with disbelief at both the sight and the pain he was feeling. The shield went down and the healers went to work but didn’t look too happy about it. Limbs could be grown back by some of the most powerful Life element healers or really high grade medicine, but those were too expensive for anyone not in a Powerful Family house to hire. Gabe felt hatred starting to form in his chest at the cruel scene. The Hellvine family was known for it’s twisted morals and hated for the way it treated others. But it was not an evil family that had no limit for violence. and that was because they only had one code they lived by that all hellvines followed without regard for anything else. “to do without hesitation, that which must be done.” in this code lay a moral only the Hellvines understood, and most missed entirely when they heard it. The hellvine ancestor who wrote this phrase many eons ago meant two fold. One, do not freeze up or stop no matter what you have to do or how low you have to sink to accomplish your goals, and Two, only do what must be done. Unnecessary harm and violence for the sake of harm and violence alone as actually seen as a great shame, That made cheep all that the family had worked for. as the Crowd once again cheered Gabe clenched his teeth. Though he was only with his family for a short time and had no desire to go back, he had maintained this one thing from them in his heart. And had never once broken this code. Even when Colin was frozen in fear from some of the dangers they had faced, Gabe had learned to never pause. And even when Sisfar had used fear to control him Gabe had never given in. always fighting it even when he couldn’t win. Always trying to do what he had to do without hesitation. Likewise he never disgraced that fighting will by giving in to unnatural desires for malice. And using it to cause pain without reason. He was by no means perfect or holy. He was by no means humble or kind. but he always lived exactly the way he wanted to live. And right now what he wanted to do was kick the living hell out of this retard.

The final fight would be between him and this murderous bastard with a mean streak. Gabe stepped into the ring with a conflicted heart. Mostly he really wanted to tear this Piece of carp in two, but his stomach felt funny when he looked at him. There was something wrong here he couldn’t describe, something dangerously wrong. The man had defeated his foes without showing his beast, and had done so almost effortlessly just like Gabe had. But For a moment Gabe doubted his ability to win this fight. "You should cop out kid." Sisfar spoke up in his head, his voice low and scared. Gabe rose an eyebrow. "Why? You think he'll kill me?" He said it mockingly, but he got the distinct feeling that it could quite possibly happen. "Yes! Did you see what he did to the guy five levels above you. Your only a level one Apprentice remember, he could do the same to you." Gabe frowned. "But I'm stronger then that guy, maybe as strong as this dirt bag too. I can take his hit and dish a couple back that he won't like. That much I know for sure." Sisfar grumbled. "Don't do it kid. The moment he uses that death song move your cooked. It doesn't go on strength, it attacks the Soul. He’ll fry you from the inside out. You may have tough strength traits but those don’t help with the soul." Gabe let out a breath and thought it over. he remembered his fight with Matthew, such a strong Foe had used a soul attack too, but Gabe hadn't even felt it. This song seamed a tad more powerful, but it shouldn’t be too far apart. "I'm not backing out Sisfar, this guy is a dead man. One way or the other." Gabe kept Sisfar from saying anything more and answered the final call into the ring by walking up to fight. Whoever won this Won the top prize, and Gabe wanted the top prize.

The shield went up around the two and they stood staring at each other for a moment. From the way his black eyes and Grimm expression looked, Gabe guessed this man was trying to figure him out. Neither of them had shown their soul-Beasts and both had shown unnatural strength. "Can I get your name?" The man asked with a Deep raspy voice. the voice fit him it was just as off putting, but Gabe still thought he was most likely deepening it on purpose. He seamed to enjoy others fear and discomfort. "Only if you give me yours." Gabe said with a flat expression. Showing no fear and no emotions. The man smiled. "Salvan, former member of the Hellvine family." Gabe's eyes widened before he forced his expression back to neutral this was entirely unexpected to meet another outcast of his family like this, the crowd went silent listening to the two with rapt attention. The runes around the Ring also allowed their voices to be head from anywhere in the stadium. "My name is Gabriel, with no ties to any family." The dark man smirked like he was the smartest man on the field and anxious to prove it. "That is a lie." He said boldly with a puffed up chest. "You are Gabriel Hellvine, the son of that high elder bastard who had his own child kicked out of the family. I remember you deeply, and your face looks just the same although a little older." Gabe used every bit of his strength to keep from reacting he just stood there without answer. The crowd began to talk among each other, wondering if it was true. And if two banished Hellvine Descendents were really standing in front of them. Or two posers.

"What a twist!" The dark man shouted with glee after Gabe didn’t respond. "I never would have thought you'd be alive. Your family mourns for you like your a dead man. Poor little Gabey, only Six when he was left alone in the Farming city outside the Family lands. You'd have no idea what your banishment did to the higher ups. Laws were made because of you!" Gabe didn't move or react to a thing he was hearing, but that didn't keep Salven from speaking, making a show for the audience. "You know that someone has to be fourteen before they can be removed from the Family now, and they can't be judged because their weak. It's really lowered the Family's blood quality if you ask me." He looked deeply at Gabe and let out a small chuckle. "Anyway little brother, I guess its time to give these people the show they've been waiting for. I'm gonna do some nasty things to you, but don't take it personally okay. It's not you I really want to kill, it's your father. I’m just going to use you to practice what I’m gonna do to him one day." The man immediately charged his fists with Death element Spirit energy and charged with speed that matched Gabe's own. Gabe didn't hesitate, he was twice as pissed off at this prick as he was a minute ago. Revealing his identity could be a very problematic thing for him, the Hellvine family was not at all liked by anybody, and had more enemies then it did friends one of which was the Golden-chaos family. Gabe released his Death cloud and the man didn't even try to escape it instead he just ran right into it and came out the other side untouched. Gabe almost blanched, that meant this man was more powerful then Matthew. How could that be? Matthew was a wunderkind, far stronger then the levels above him. Would the HellVine family really Banish such a Powerful Channeler? The man was in front of Gabe in an instant and Gabe blocked Three blows before a fourth well trained hit threw him backwards. He hit the shield but barely felt it as he rolled away to dodge a Spirit Dagger made of just energy that was aimed at his head. "Your tough." The man said with undamped glee. He tossed six more daggers that Gabe barley avoided before he charged again with a Death Energy mace in his hands. This man was fast, too fast for his level. It occurred to Gabe that maybe they had more in common then just blood. But it couldn't be. Had this man also been given a Heavenly rune? Gabe laughed. It was more likely he was just cheating somehow. Maybe he had taken a pill before the battle to increase his ability.

Gabe pushed his speed to it's max and was just able to keep up with the man as they fought. The man threw one swing after the other with his mace, then used a well trained move. Gabe barely escaped injury, backing away. Biding his time until the right moment. He was fighting with one supremely powerful Apprentice realm. He couldn't just throw everything he had at the man willy nilly. Finally after the man made a furious swing with his weapon and summoned a death skeleton from the underworld to fight beside him, Gabe acted. Death skeletons were beasts in some places, but there were moves that allowed you to summon Chaos beasts from the underworld. These moves didn't last long and took a lot of energy, but if you were fighting an equal foe they could make all the difference. The skeleton had a purple aura around it and held a big blunt Death star in its bony hands. Gabe wondered why the man hadn't just summoned his Soul-Beast? It was odd. Gabe pored power into a Dark black glowing skin tight shield around his body. As much energy as he could afford. He also created a half dozen faces with his shrunken head move at the same time, anyone paying close enough attention was surprised to see he had two elements, and the Golden-Chaos family was writing it down they had found the man that was rumored to have two elements and two beasts. The shrunken heads latched onto the skeleton and immediately the beast started to fade. Summoning beasts from the other plains didn't give them very powerful life force as their connection with the world was low. Gabe knew this and was very glad he did. The shield he powered for only as second longer feeling it drain his energy to dangerously low levels. Shields were a very hard move to master and took ten times as much energy as a regular move. That was why they weren't used often unless by very skilled high realm Channelers. The moment the man made his next swing Gabe stepped directly in front of it, knowing his shield wouldn't take the blow completely but counting on his hard bodily toughness to protect him. The blow impacted his side and pain broke through his shield but much less then what he was prepared to take, he marked down that he was in fact a lot tougher than he thought he was. In an instant as the still very surprised Man who had thought the shield was a last ditch effort to survive, was still recovering his weapon from the rebound off Gabe's rock like body, Gabe struck his closed fist forward with it glowing a pure black power. And it slammed into The man's chest launching him with enough power that he hit the shield on the opposite side of the ring and bounced back off ten feet landing face forward.

He hit the ground on his knees looking up a bit dazed. Gabe didn't give him time to think about his options. He pushed his advantage by summoning both his Beasts on opposite sides of the man and had them attack, half of the audience gasped and the Golden-Chaos family's eyes went wide, they almost had given up believing that the man with dual soul beasts was going to show his face again until this match. The Nexus wasp split into two and the man only caught one in his hand before the other put it's sting right through his shoulder the man let out an awful roar as blood gushed from the new wound. Gabe was a bit surprised by how easy it went through but didn't pause. He ran forward with a charge just as his Dark Death Boar pummeled the man with three hard stomps. The man rolled out of the way in pain and threw the Wasp in his hand away tearing the other out of his shoulder. He didn't see Gabe in time and got a spirit energy powered kick to the groin that made a wet crunch sound. It was at this moment that the audience started to believe that Gabe might actually be from the hellvine family. The man slid across the floor of the ring with a twisted expression of both pain and anger, before he even moved he called up his death song move. The purple and black energy pored out of his mouth in a tiny unnatural cloud and shot at Gabe too fast to dodge. Gabe felt it hit him in the chest and attack his soul. But that was it, it simply faded away after a split second, not a dent left behind. The audience cheered as Gabe showed no sign of pain or injury. The man's eyes went wide as Gabe charged at him again and his death boar stomped beside him. The Nexus wasps were much closer to the Fearful looking man and one was flying only a foot away when he finally summoned his Soul-Beast. the Gravestone Drake appeared in front of Salvan protecting him from the wasps it's long black scaled body and stone gray wings with runes drawn along them clawing and swiping with powerful blows. Everyone close enough in the stands gasped. And Gabe finally understood why the Beast had been kept hidden. You could feel it's power level was Champion realm. Though any beast of any realm could be bonded with, they could only ever be summoned at the Channelers realm of power. They may look like a Higher beast, but their power signature was the same as their master. If his Beast was at the the Champion realm then so was he. Gabe's Death boar engaged with the Drake and his three Soul-Beasts quickly overcame it, their power unnaturally higher then it should be at Gabe's level. But just before they killed it all of the beasts disappeared. And the shield around them disappeared.

The man's face turned sour as he stood up and looked around Hatefully. "Now you've done it!" He shouted as two elder Channelers flew like a lightning bolt from the stands and suddenly appeared beside him. One of them did a thorough soul scan while the other held him in place kicking and screaming. "Let go of me! You have no right! My father will hear of this!" He whined until the Elder in front of him reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out a Rune covered Spirit crystal. His hand had moved so fast it only looked like a slight vibration before he held the item. "A Master level Crystal shroud." He said and for the whole audience to hear. Everyone started talking and shouting when they heard it. Gabe's eyes widened. A Crystal shroud was a Treasure created only by very powerful Alchemists and rune drawers together. As it took both the right ingredients and Markings. The shroud, depending on its power level could hide a Channeler's true Power level from high Realm Channelers convincingly. With it off Salvan anyone could See that he was actually a second level Champion Realm Channeler, and a weak one at that to lose to a Fist level Channeler like Gabe. Gabe grinned as the elders took the man away forcefully and the crowd started cheering at him. He'd just beaten someone over a realm above him... that was unheard of for even the strongest of Channelers. Another elder official landed beside him and lifted up Gabe’s arm in a sign of victory. The crowed started cheering louder. He almost couldn't believe it, it seamed so Unreal. Standing there before over thirty thousand applauding people, in a massive Stadium ground. The changes in his life were starting to sink in a little while standing in this arena. In his mind he thanked whatever being had given him that rune and changed his life forever. he laughed with pride at the cheering that was just for him. He could get used to this change.
