Chapter 6

Little by little Oliver was able to move his body and kneel supported under his own legs, still feeling pain throughout his body.

Even with difficulty, he managed to stand up, but he soon gave in and fell sitting down, feeling the pain even more intense than when he woke up.

He grunted as he looked at his legs that were shaking with fatigue, making him frown with an irritated expression, but he soon turned to the woman in front of him who remained staring at him with a smile on her face.

Oliver noticed that there was no symbol on the clothes of the hooded men, but unlike them, the woman was wearing a feminine suit and black high heels, even after all that distance there was not a single mark on her clothes or dents in her hair.

“If you’re not with them, who are you?”

The woman continued to stare, seeming interested, but she soon approached and extended her hand so she could help him get up, saying.

“My name doesn’t matter now, I’m just here to help you and make a proposal.”

Her tone of voice seemed persuasive and Oliver saw her hand that remained outstretched.

However, Oliver took a deep breath and pushed himself back.

He hit his back against the tree and used it so that he could stand up even with support, as he slowly positioned himself and little by little he felt his strength returning.

“What proposal is this?”

Seeing that the boy kept a certain distance, the woman immediately withdrew her hand and kept it to herself, moving back and leaning against a tree as she said.

“It’s more of an invitation than a proposal.” She was smiling again as she looked at Oliver saying. “You can use these relics better than I imagined, we can help and protect you, imagine like a brotherhood.”

"Brotherhood? We can? Don't just say half, say what you want and who you are. I don’t have much time and I want to avoid confrontations with other jerks like that if possible.” Oliver maintained a gruff tone as he frowned wonderingly in thought. ‘Relics? Does she talk about weapons?’

"Ah, I understand. Well, to summarize in a few words, we are a brotherhood that has been operating for centuries and we also have more people with weapons just like yours.” She pointed to Oliver's bow and robes as he continued. “The ones you have are very valuable and powerful, I think you realized that too. Therefore, other ‘assholes’ as you say, will keep coming to try to take them from you.”

“Powerful? The cape I understand, but a bow and arrow?”

Soon she turned her eyes to the body of the hooded man who was lying a few meters away from Oliver, noticing that the arrow had pierced almost halfway through the cable, causing her to squint her eyes as she said.

“If that’s what you think, an ordinary bow wouldn’t do that easily, besides, they haven’t even reached their full potential, compared to yesterday, you don’t know how to use them fully.”

“So you've followed me ever since and apparently want to teach me how to use it properly, but why can't I remember you?”

“The relics took over you yesterday, it wasn’t exactly you. After all, their will won over yours and that's why they took your body to go out at night, to fulfill the desire you have, even now.”

Hearing those words made Oliver lower his head, frowning in thought as he looked at the bow in his hands, squeezing it slightly as he questioned.

“If all that was their wish, like Robin Hood, don’t they like bandits?”

“I think you like history, don’t you?” Again she showed a slight attractive smile that made Oliver's eyebrow twitch. “Just like their former bearer, they hate oppression, whether of the weakest or the poorest. Didn’t it seem strange that you killed these men and felt absolutely nothing?”

Oliver slowly turned his head and saw the smaller swordsman lying on the ground, the woman focused her eyes and looked at the arrows saying.

“Even if they seem weak now, they become even stronger as long as they follow the wielder's will. However, weaker if this desire is broken. In the end, it is far from its prime as it was in the hands of the King of Thieves.”

"And what do you want?"

The boy questioned, slowly turning his face to look at the woman who noticed a sharp look while she was no longer panting and seemed to have recovered from all that effort, but even so she continued to smile and said.

“You can join us, where we will see what we can do to help and protect you. Or you can just give me the relics right now.” With the end of the sentence, Oliver raised his head slightly as he heard the sound of the wind making the leaves sway next to the silver hair while the girl slowly extended her hand saying. “I think you understand what it means.”

The entire place was silent and only the wind made sound in the place while Oliver remained leaning against the tree in silence, until he managed to stand up without support and began to speak again.

“If I hand it over, they won’t come and attack me. Is that what it says?”

“Yes, these relics are a burden that few can carry, besides, if you abandon them they will have no reason to continue after you. You’ll be able to go back to your normal life and forget about that day.”

As soon as the sentence came to an end, the rustling of the leaves stopped and Oliver took a deep breath, pausing briefly and saying with a calm expression.

“Fine, but I will decline both options, thank you.”

Once again, a disturbing silence took over the place as little by little the woman's smile faded as she seemed to absorb all the information, but soon she resumed her posture and spoke again.

“What led you to this choice? You know you’re going to continue with all these problems, right?”

“Yes, but that’s fine with me. With these relics, I can find something that I have been looking for a long time and also cannot join you.”

"Why?"

She looked at Oliver who remained calm, even though his face seemed tired from the chase and everyday life, something calmed him and made him pass the bow through his body, leaving it supported while he said.

“I don't trust you and this story didn't convince me, I also have too many jobs. So again, thank you, but I will decline.”

With the answer, she continued to look surprised while her eyes remained slightly wide, but still with a neutral expression as she looked at Oliver who maintained his posture, seeming to have already decided.

After that conclusion, she just let out a long sigh while letting out a low laugh and while saying.

“I didn’t expect that, but that’s okay.”

Keeping the same disappointed expression, she let go of the tree and began to walk towards the smaller swordsman's body as she crouched down to get a closer look at him.

Oliver turned around trying to see what she was doing and saw the woman approaching her hand, touching the body of the hooded man who, a few moments after the touch, disappeared completely.

When he saw that, he would turn his body completely around as he looked at the place where the man's body was, realizing that there was nothing else there, staring with wide eyes until the woman stood up saying.

“Well, let me at least show you a sign of friendship, maybe you’ll change your mind later.” The phrase made Oliver look confused and suspicious after that feat, however, she didn't change her expression, just showing a calm smile as she continued. “You can go back to your house, I’ll take care of the other person’s body too. Just be careful from now on. If you need help, find me, but I will charge you.”

Her last sentence came with a friendly smile as she seemed amused as she turned, passing by Oliver and heading towards where the older man's body was.

Oliver continued to stare with surprise on her face.

Little by little she disappeared from Oliver's field of vision, who continued to stare from afar.

‘Why did she smile so much? That scary.'

With the woman gone, Oliver headed towards where the body of the smaller hooded man was still wondering.

'What was that?'

When he arrived at the location, he would kick and try to find it, but he couldn't get it right or find anything, creating confusion while he thought.

‘At this point, I think it’s a waste of time trying to find an explanation for this.’

Soon he put the bow away, leaving it pierced through her body and headed towards the exit of the park.

His walk appeared to be at ordinary speed and as he walked he realized how far he had entered the park during the chase.

Minutes passed and he managed to get out, but again he realized how far he was from home.

‘I must be closer to my work than my home...’

He placed his hands on his hips and let out another long sigh as he said.

‘It’s okay, I’ll figure it out.’

Trying to find motivation, he soon walked towards his house.

Along the way, he took advantage of the alleys to remove the relics and hide them in bed, in an attempt to appear less suspicious and attract less attention.

It was already late at night and a lot of time had passed when he finally arrived at the alley where he had started his escape.

When he noticed, he was ready to see cars outside his house and several people despite the time approaching midnight, however, as soon as he arrived on his street something different caught his attention.

There was no conversation or noise on the street, the street was silent at the time and there was no sign that anything had happened there.

Focusing his eyes on the floor, he noticed that the glass was no longer on the floor and as he approached the building, he saw the light on in his room as before, however, the glass window was intact, causing him to look in disbelief as he thought.

'Are you serious?...'

With hurried steps he quickly went inside the building and passed through the stairs, the corridors passed quickly and arriving at the entrance to his room again he noticed that there was no sign of destruction.

Entering the room, he saw that both walls were intact and there were no traces of what had happened there, making him look with disbelief and a confused expression as he said.

“Really?…”

Outside the building and on the same street, it was possible to see an elegant black car with part of the window open, appearing to observe the place.

Soon the person inside the car saw Oliver appear in front of the window, touching it to see if he was not going crazy.

A smile reflected in the window of the car that soon started and left, disappearing from view in a few moments.
