Chapter 99
Vendir closed the gap rather fast and threw something forward, it was a bundle of small bones that scattered across the middle platform. The moment they touched the ground they exploded creating hundreds of skeletons that rose from ground
*clack clack clack*
Sounds of bones clattering and moving, the dead rose from the ground as they were summoned with but the will of Vendire.
“No Undead shall stand this ground!” roared Reigar as he stomped the ground creating a blastwave that shook the bodies of the skeletons to their bones sending them with but a stomp back to the grave.
“Not unless I command them!” said Vendire as he tapped with his staff the ground, creating a wave of dark energy that surrounded the remains of the skeletons. They instantly rose back however they were much different from before. The naked skeletons were now shrouded in a dark aura that engulfed them creating tattered armors that began to cover them.
“Useless!” said Reigar as he swiped with his sword forward sending a ray of light energy to cleave its way forward.
“Not so fast!” shouted Vendire as another dark ray of light moved to intercept the wave.
Dark and light clashed with signs of a clear victor they both crumbled.
“You have some skills brother!” said Reigar “But you are far too weak!” and jumped forward while landing a devastating slash down the ground that shook the platform cracking it, and almost splitting it in half.
Another light attributed shockwave washed over the platform destroying the skeletons once again.
“Defile!” roared Vendire as a huge thorn rose from the ground.
Vendire’s special skill.
The Thorne chased around the Lichbane Reigar like a persistent leech. Aiming to penetrate through his armor and rip him to shreds. This thorn was obviously powerful, it was strong enough to shield the giant ship from the monsters of the mist that we encountered while reaching this place, and was powerful enough to rip the Ancient God Ravana to shreds.
However, the Lichbane didn’t bother dodging as he moved his giant shield to intercept the tip of the throne, forcing it to break under the shield, it was like a thorn trying to pierce the skin of a titan. Utterly and perfectly stomped and stopped in its course.
“Let us help you Vendire!” I said
“No! this is my fight! None shall interfere!” he said and with a wave of his hand, a thick wall of thrones rose to block us from moving while giving enough room between the branches for us to see how the fight is going.
“Death aura!” roared Vendire as a wave of dark matter began to seep down from his clothes. Now that he used the book on his left hand his appearance changed greatly, mixed in with a dark veil and the seeping dark smoke he looked like a harbinger of death.
The aura washed over everything in its wake forcing the skeletons to rise once more. However, the third time they rose, their appearance changed once again!
Now with full armor on and an aura of death around them they looked fiercer, more dangerous, and deadly.
“Divine Intervention!” roared Reigar as he stomped the floor.
A giant golden foot appeared from above, its size immense! Its power undisputed and it harbored a great deal of weight.
It was aiming to destroy the platform it would land on, and with Vendire and Reigar both on the platform, they immediately evacuated the spot.
The foot crashed down on the platform destroying it with the skeletons on top of it.
The foot disappeared soon after and the platform was utterly destroyed and a great deal of its size was no more.
Stolen novel; please report.
However even in the dark chasm one can still see the green and gleaming light of the skeletons that were stomped.
“Rise once more!” roared Vendire.
The skeletons, like persistent cockroaches, jumped forward latching themselves to the nearby platforms and climbing their way up. A literal army from the underground rose forward, a true sight of horror.
*Clack clack clack!*
“Such arrogance Brother! You think these small fires are enough to fight me?” said the Lichbane
“No, I don’t however, you should have noticed it!” said Vendire as a smile was plastered all over his face.
“Just because you sided with the divine doesn’t mean that you are omnipresent! You too shall fall!”
Indeed, it is obvious… everytime those things die, they rise once more, more powerful stronger and more vicious.
“Then I shall kill you before they grow any stronger,” said the Lichbane as he charged forward ignoring the oncoming skeletons.
With a swing of his right hand, the cleaving giant blade fell down on Vendire.
“Defile!”
The thorns grew at an enormous speed fully covering Vendire and slowing down the speed of the descending giant sword.
However, even if the thorns were so powerful they were still cut down at an astonishing speed. It was as if Vendire was using paper to shield him from a sword.
However, Vendire was not without tricks, he raised his scepter forward and blocked the giant descending sword almost effortlessly with his staff.
“Oh, I should have used more strength!” said the Lichbane as he dashed forward with his shield.
Vendire didn’t bother to move aside as a barrier to black energy was created before him to block the shield in its charge.
While the two clashed, Vendire who as still hovering was still pushed back lick a meteor while the Lichbane didn’t even flinch from the impact.
Vendir landed on the giant wall of thorns that he created to block us.
“Tch!” clicking his tongue Vendire rose back up and chanted a spell.
“Unholy light of the damned!”
His staff glowed in a dark light and shot forward, a torrent of black rays that moved at an incredible speed aiming to pierce through the Lichbane.
Yet with a wave of his left hand, the shield stopped the attack in its wake as it splashed all around him without pushing him even a bit.
The energy that was splashed on the surrounding destroyed huge portions of the pillars but didn’t even force the Lichbane to flinch.
However, the skeletons looked to be even fiercer now. Some of them even changed completely, growing massively in size while others had different sets of armors, some even had robes.
“This is the might of a true lich!” roared Vendir. “You grew too arrogant fighting with second graded liches to think that you can defeat a true one! You are far from enough! Rain death upon him!” ordered Vendire as his small army surrounded the Lichbane.
Two of the giant skeletons struck down with their giant cleavers on the Lichbane, it forced him to raise his shield to block the attack. But the weight of their attack was shown once the ground under him caved from their might.
Spells were then being shot from the skeletons with robes while even arrows were unleashed from other skeletons.
“Don’t think that these toys are enough to fight me!” roared Reigar as he swiped with his sword destroying the bones of the two giants and culling with the energy wave the lives of the remaining ones.
“Shit, vendir’s minions are no match for that guy! That sword of his is too damn strong!” said Haru as he looked to be agitated and willing to enter the fray at any moment, him being a wielder of a shield and hammer seems to understand about this situation best.
“Not just the sword, even that shield has an enormous magic resistance, the whole guy is patterned with tools that serve to kill mages. This is a very bad situation for Vendire.” Said Haruka understanding the situation
“Indeed, that man was known to have been strong from long, however, Vendir’s words are true, he is not like any other lich,” said Shara who looked to be interested in the fight.
“You know that guy?” I asked
“Yes, the last time I saw him he didn’t ascend to a demigod though, and it was due to his actions that Vendir was sent to hell, I was present when Annwn sent him to eternal prison in the first circle of hell, though due to his special circumstances he was not sent to the lower circles.”
“What do you mean by special circumstances?” I asked
“That man, he killed and ravaged, but never had he killed anyone who was innocent, all those that died under him were the scum of the scum, yet still he was deemed sacrilegious and foul by the masses. And being antagonized and forced he had no other way but to truly prove their words for them, he, in the end, became what they called him and that was his fall to depravity.” Said Shara reminiscing a past long since gone.
“Rise!” roared Vendire and the destroyed skeletons rose once again, more powerful than before.
The giants were now wearing tougher armors and wielding stronger blades. The mages that died became more potent, some became liches themselves and summoned more skeletons.
The archers and the infantry were now adorned with powerful armors. They became stronger and more numerous the more they die.
“The longer the fight prolonged, the more Vendire will have the chance to win this. Believe in him and don’t worry”
“Enough!” shouted the Lichbane.
His shield shone a bright gold and his sword was now glowing with a holy light.
“Shit! Holy fire!” said Shara
“What is that?” I asked
“That is why this mane was named the bane of all liches… that ability of his was granted to him by divine” Said Shara
The blade that was now burning with fire was sent down crushing the giant skeleton and destroying him in the process. This time, however, that skeleton didn’t rise back.
“Once the holy flame kills an undead, they will never rise back…” said Shara.
Indeed, with that, now Vendire’s situation looks rather grim…
