Haruka POV
“This is bad!” I said
“What is?” Said Misaka in a questioning tone
“He went inside to see that thing, though I want to see a dragon too, I wouldn’t dare try to do that to something as vile and wretched as this! Look at the ground it is all corrupt and damaged, it is as if the very presence of this dragon is foiling everything around here…”
“He said he wanted to take a look, it shouldn’t take too much time right? I hope he doesn’t get into any trouble though. It is never a wise choice to awaken a dragon…” Misaka replied
“Not only that” Said Haruna…
“What do you mean?” asked Misaka once again
“If, by some unlucky chance, he awakens it and it kills him…I think we would die too.”
She is right! Why didn’t I think about this earlier! If something bad happens to Daiki…no I don’t even want to think about it!
A moment later an enormous explosion sound was heard, and as if the mountain was shaking from the impact, another explosion soon occurred.
“Damn it! I think it woke up! We need to get Daiki out of there!” I said
“I don’t think we have the strength to do that…what a stupid contract! It binds our lives to that idiot!”
“Don’t call him that!” I shouted at Haruna
This is the first time I ever raised my voice at her…but they need to understand something
Her face paled for a moment after hearing me burst out, but then I added
“You seem to forget that if it was not for him, we would have been slaves for some random pervert…we owe him our lives and I am not going to let him die on me again!”
“But don’t you agree that he did something stupid this time?! He went to check upon a dragon! And now it is awake! You think that these are the actions of a sane man?!”
…she is right, perhaps him dying too many times in hell made him forget about his mortality…
The rules of the living are different than the ones of those that already passed…
“I am going to help him, whether you follow me or not…there is no way I am going to let him die again! Not after all of that, even if the odds are against me I will try to help. I hate being a liability, I hate being weak…damn it!” I said and headed towards the cave

Another explosion soon followed which made me fear the worst.
Why did he release us? Did he die? No if he did we would have followed suit…is it possible that he…no it can’t be!
I then dashed towards the cave with all my might, though I feel that my body became weaker due to the stat loss that were nullified once the contract was removed, I still need to help.
I unsheathed my sword, and went inside the dark cave.
There was a thick layer of black smoke was blocking the way but I passed through it with ease

My right arm then shone in a green light, pushing the abyss away, only this light was barely enough for me to see where I could set foot on. It was too dark to see and too bleak to feel at ease…
Moments later, I saw something, there were two giant red orbs floating and under them was the silhouette of a person.
Covered in dark matter, eating away at him and his flesh.
Yet, though his body was being dissolved, a grin was showing on his face…
It was Daiki…
Yet something was off…his bones were black, and whatever remained of his flesh was ignited as if it was an ember… he was smiling against these odds as if he knew that he would win.
It was but for a moment that I felt relieved, until the red orbs made sense.
The physic of a dragon showed itself as the red orbs were but its eyes…a dragon made of smoke and darkness…a foul and horrific creature…something that I cannot fathom its weakness or invulnerability…an impassable obstacle of terror and might…this was the true definition of fear.
Both things grinned at each other…that is if one could consider a dragon being capable of grinning, or it might just be showing its teeth…
A moment later, the dragon swiped its hand at the immobile Daiki destroying body bone and flesh in a moment…
Daiki once again died…while I could do nothing to help.
I walked towards his shredded corpse, it was melting due to the ichor that was eating away at it...
I turned around in tears unable to suppress my anger or sadness…tightly gripping my sword and under the unsurmountable odds I faced an enemy that I knew I was not going to win against…
Yet I jumped forward stabbing at its paw hoping to deal any amount of damage no matter how insignificant, but my sword broke from the hardness of its scale…no wonder, how could steel fare against the strength of a dragon’s scale…this situation was hopeless, only death awaits, but even when facing death, one could only hope to survive…
Daiki POV

The dragon shot a dark ray of black magic towards me, something that I didn’t even bother to dodge.
The ray broke through the ground and passed right through me as if I was but a shadow.
Due to my resistance towards the dark element his spell was ineffective.
Another shot that did no damage, but this time I was not going to wait for it to come. I used shadow step and instantly followed up with an uppercut, as my hand was wrapped in chains and imbued with soul burst.

Twenty five million Hp. That is more than Ravana’s Hp and it was a damn god!
And the damage I dealt is even less than expected…I should deal at least 150 000damag to it…it is possible that the scales reduce the incurred damage?
And it is even stun immune…
This fight is going to take a lot of time.
“Banished one! You dare transgress my lair? Your end is all but certain.”
The dragon swiped its hand at me, so fast that, even with my perception ability, I was unable to dodge so I used the metamorphosing blade and changed it into a shield to block the damage.
Yet all it did was reduce it as I received enormous amounts of damage as I was sent reeling with the shield into a nearby wall.

This thing is impossible to beat…I will probably just leave this place…
I began shadow stepping towards the exit, after verifying the impossibility of defeating such a creature.

A wall of smoke prevented me from leaving the place…I tried shadow stepping beyond it but nothing happened, I even used Abyssal projection trying to force apart the wall but to no avail.
God damn it.
I looked at the dragon and it looked back at me, eyes filled with rage and hatred.
This is going to be a hard battle.
Jumping forward with another shadow step I landed on the dragon’s back. I instantly used decay on it trying to make it grow weaker.
To my idiocy this only backfired.
As nothing seemed to have apparently changed at first I inspected the dragon only to be utterly surprised

The dragon roared one last time with an explosion of dark magic that shook me from where I stood forcing the second and last Perception to activate.
I dropped from the dragons back and stood right in front of him…
This battle will not end without me dying a few times.
This fight is going to force me to go all out…yet I felt thrilled
A being that is going to make me use everything in my arsenal is rare to find, and this is a chance that I will not dare waste…

There was some sort of painful ichor eating away at my flesh at a rapid rate.
I couldn’t get it off so I willed the chains on my body to emerge and ignited them trying to burn away the effects of the ichor away…
It was useless…
The ichor ate away at me without ever stopping…
I could use redemption to nullify the effects but that would be just a waste of spell…I cannot beat this thing like this…
The dragon looked at my immobile and corroded state and almost grinned as it swiped its claws at me

A light emanated from my body, and it began rejuvenating me, my black bones reconstructed themselves and mended with flesh, skin and blood that began to refill my veins.
My heart pumped with life once again and I came back…
This time inclined not to underestimate that dragon again.
“Daiki!” screamed Haruka whose presence I just noticed.
“What the hell are you doing here!” I screamed at her “You will die if you stay here any longer.. get out of here!”
“But…” she said and right before she could continue her words two other silhouettes came into view…
“You idiots! I released you so that you could escape so why did you follow me to your death?! If I die I rise if you die you stay dead...are your lives that expendable to you?!”
The other girls looked pale, probably from the effects of the dragon’s presence and debuffs…if he so wanted they would die without me being able to do a damn thing to help…god damn it.
“We are sorry…we just wanted to help…”
Said the other girls, but their help is not needed…
“You…Dare…Ignore…me” growled the dragon with a voice announcing that it was barely able to maintain its sanity.
Another ray of corrosive acid was being prepared, this time aimed at the girls who were in its way…
I willed the metamorphosing blade to change into a giant wall and it instantly blocked the shot of ichor that splashed on it, barely managing to save them from a painful death…
I willed the wall to become a giant dome that covered all three of them and jumped at the dragon while activating redemption.

I aim to use an interesting technique that I thought about some time ago especially against something like this.
I jumped at the dragons back and shot a soul burst, instantly followed it with a chain fist that rocked it from the back.
The dragon tried to attack while I made sure to evade the damage, I then used another shot of soul burst and disappeared from sight.

Appearing few steps away from it I channeled soul eruption and used abyssal projection to make it explode underneath it.
The explosion of soul eruption was strong enough to shock the dragon to its core, but it refused to stumble.
I then shot an immolating fireball at it that did about a hundred thousand damage. This thing is very powerful.
I kept on attacking it with everything I had while dodging any shot that came towards me.
The girls looked to be safe within the dome created by the metamorphosing blade though I will be needing it later on.
It took 60 seconds for me to render the dragon to this state.

The dragon looked at me with eyes full of hate, though I think that his eyes looked like that from the start.
I willed the blade to change back this time into my arm, I needed its bonus…

The girls were now left without protection, but I don’t think the dragon will even bother with them now.

The darkness of the cave was overwritten by the activation of my territorial skill, the one I gained after defeating Gozu and Mezu.

The fire of hell began consuming the darkness though it was not fully nullifying it. Four pyres of flames rose while all of us were in the middle. I could feel these pyres filling me with energy for every moment, while my body began to brim with power yet this was not enough…
The girls looked to be shaken but I know that this will not affect them as I willed the flame to not harm them, they are allies for the time being.

Right now I feel I can rival a real god of battle.
The dragon swiped at me, yet he moved slowly, it seems that this state is clearing my mind and enabling me to fully concentrate on the battle.
So I dived forward right between its claws and changed the weapon at hand to that of a giant great sword, one of four meters length and a thickness that was imposing to say the least.
I released my aura of imposing pain to increase the load on the enemy and struck down at its head.
Right between it’s two horns, a strike that was able to pierce its tough skin, causing black blood to pour down while the beast howled in pain

What the hell! This is amazing! Few more hits like this and it will fall.
I went down on it again moving at speeds far surpassing this being’s ability to detect and struck, this time at its back, followed by a pierce through its belly as I shadow stepped under it, landing another critical
Savagery activated and I gained even more percentage to base damage increasing the damage I dealt.

Haruna seem to have a skill that enables her to buff allies…quite helpful but nothing compared to the passive of my territorial skill.
Hit after hit rendered the dragon into a critical state in a matter of seconds.
Haruka, who was now holding a broken blade, even tried to attack that beast, though frightening as it is, she still attacked without hesitation…they want to help, I just hope they don’t end up dead…
The dragon took notice of her and tried to stomp her into the ground but she gracefully dodged the hit and put a lot of distance between them…it seems that her weapon has fully melted against the ichor that is now covering the beast.
I still have more time to bring the beast down. But this is a dragon, though I am powerful I have to remember that, once the 60 seconds end, I will find myself in a situation where no one would want to be.
The weakened state that follows the use of overdrive is probably going to ruin my chance at victory, and if I fall the girls will fall with me…
I changed the weapon to become a large scythe and began ravaging through the beast.
I even saw Misaka using a spell forcing the blood to poor even faster from its opened wounds… they are helpful after all.
However, right where I thought I was going to win, the finishing blow met nothing but empty space.
The being turned into smoke and my hits were not landing at all…I swiped and slashed at nothing but black smoke.
It shot multiple rays at me, in his invulnerable state while I was unable to deal a smidgen of damage.
Rays that I dodged with ease.
I then casted well of souls to try and send him down to hell only to have it canceled by some sort of factor. A notification soon followed that explained why
The territorial skill
Glory of the dark is a domain outside the known worlds, the link to hell is unable to be established.
This made me understand another thing, my own territorial skill is probably not real hell summoned here, but a copy of it…
“Soul projection! Veindir Saida!”
I summoned a person that will probably be able to help in this situation, the sacrilegious king!
He appeared in front of me, and without even asking for what I needed, he casted a spell that was an enormous ball of energy, it exploded brightening the dark atmosphere and, for only one second, the smoke materialized.
I switched the scythe to a giant curved blade, and summoned the skill Leechers from below, to which the dragon roared at as its zone was amazingly large, the hands of those that were once dead rose and latched onto the dragon while it screeched, trying to free itself.
In but a moment of distraction in which the dragon tried to fight against the ones pulling it down, I took the chance to strike down at its exposed neck. The blade shone in a green light as I infused it with all of my remaining soul energy to sharpen it even further.

It’s not every day you get to slay a dragon…I wonder what the rewards will be for such a feat…
