Mana manipulation proficiency increased.

 Interesting, the books that I am currently reading delved into the aspects of mana and magic control, it is quite easy actually. Mostly it related to all the books and stories I have read, yet only differed a bit. Mana control and manipulation requires imagination, mainly focus, and a lot of it, to create fire you not only need to fully understand the properties of fire you will also need to depict and imagine an exact shape.

Like the book says, though the easiest fire spell is candle flame, to mimic it, it will require a lot of concentration, first of all, fire is motion, the rapid movement of molecules aided with the combustion of oxygen to accelerate their movement, with the addition of other variables will create flame, this is the first step. Creation

The second step is maintenance, creating the flame can be a bit tricky but it is not as difficult as maintenance, the focus is increased, and the continuity of concentration is required in order to ‘Feed’ the flame mana. And lastly execution or ejection, I have been doing these things unconsciously, when I was using the skills I learnt back in hell, every skill required these things to be done. So I asked myself how I was able to use them even though I didn’t know the basics of mana manipulation.

I found the answer here in this book, skills, acquired ones, learned or given thanks to achievements, are automatically itched into the brain so that the moment the user summons the spell all the steps are executed thanks to the system’s aid. However, if one wishes to create a skill of their own, or mimic a skill of which they have no knowledge of, they will need to do these steps manually until the system recognizes their effort and creates the skill for them…

So to get stronger with magic, not only one will need to be extremely smart to cast high leveled skills, they will also need to be really hardworking to make the system acknowledge their efforts.

The wisdom and intelligence states comes in hand with this, intelligence passively increases the damage of every spell, sorcery or magic. While also increases the potency of heals and shields and the like. Wisdom makes casting spells less strenuous on the mind, thus one with high wisdom can cast numerous and complicated spells, only a balance between the two states will bring optimal results…

This was quite the informative read, I learned the baseline of sorcery and magic thanks to a book, delving deeper into this will probably give me more insight on the matter, though I intended on studying more, I had an unexpected visitor.

The butler or Balthazar, as he is named, came in and asked me to follow him. I was summoned by the demon king to her residence…it seems that I will be visiting the royal palace soon. I gathered my things and proceeded into putting back the books where they belonged, yet the butler said

“You can keep those books, they are just copies, I can even recommend more books for you seeing your thirst for knowledge.” He said

“Thank you for the offer, I will make sure to repay you someday”

“Your display against the council today was payment enough…” he said

Words I didn’t understand the meaning of at first…yet their gravity soon made everything much clearer later on.

I walked with the butler, not near the Shranvur’s exit, but deeper inside the establishment, right next to where the summoning session happened this morning, there was a room with a gateway inside…an enormous circular object, linked to the ground by shining stones, it was filled with runes and magic formulas, and the center of the portal was a liquid like substance…it looked similar to the well that took me from the palace of Asmodeus to the circle of truth where Kronos resided…

Teleportation magic…

The butler got closer to a small rising stone and infused it with magic, a small magic circle appeared and he began pressing on it, like if it was a holographic image with buttons on it.

The water like liquid changed from its transparent like nature, to portray an image. The image was that of a room with a red carpet, embryo with gold and walls of black stone.

The butler was the first to go inside, so I followed him suit. It took a single moment, I even feared that my clothes would get wet, but it seems that it is not regular water. The trip was instantaneous, I didn’t feel any headache or dizziness like I would have thought. It was quite well made to be honest…

Following the butler I saw that the room we were in was inside the black palace. It was filled with amazing displays of art and old pottery. It looked nice, and home friendly.

Maids and servants were minding their own business, each taking care of their personal task, the house or palace was well organized and well taken care of. Nothing related to the dreadfulness and horrific rumors of told stories about demon kings’ habitat.

We reached a great room within the palace. It was a room with an enormous table in the middle, adorned with all kinds of decoration, black knight armors on the side with monster heads pinned on the walls, the table had plates with covers on them, while candles were illuminating the room thanks to being held on a giant chandelier, it hosted more than a hundred candle that burned with fervor.

Five figures were inside the room without counting the maids.

The demon king on the side of the table, the three girls, me and the butler.

I don’t know why I was invited to dine with them, but it seems that Lilith needs a word…

I sat opposed to her, on the other side of the table while the girls all sat on the wider side of it.

The food was served rather elegantly, the maids pulled the covered plates revealing the delicious looking result of an incredible chef. Meat of the finest quality half cooked served mixed with mashed potatoes and a blissfully smelling sauce.

Yet I didn’t feel hungry at all…

“Why did you bring me here?” I said fully excluding myself from the company of the girls, thought Haruka had never done anything bad to me, I still feel apprehensive of them at the moment…not in a way that I am afraid, no, but rather, I am feeling uncomfortable with them…these are people that I had nothing but hatred towards a few days ago…now everything I felt was lost, I can still treat them as slaves, but a part of me really hates the idea…it seems that I am still capable of human emotions…what an annoying thing to feel…

“I need to verify something Daiki. What is your agenda?”

“Simple. Once I get the magic to take us back to earth, I will make sure to pay my former classmates a visit. Slavery or death, they will get to choose one of the two results, yet for some, only death is an option.”

“What do you mean?!” said Haruka “You plan on killing our classmates?” she asked

I didn’t answer…

“Aren’t you pushing things too far Daiki? I know what you have been through, but won’t doing the same thing they did to you make you worse than them?”

“What if? Then, do you think I care if I am worse than them? Do you really think I would hesitate? They killed me! Shattered my own soul! Damned and cursed me for eternal torment, yet forgive them I should? Are you out of your mind girl?” I said

“They need to die! Or at lease suffer a portion of what I went through! And I will be damned to let them live without suffering it! Only hell awaits them!”

“He is right…” said Misaka “I was there…I have seen it, and know what it was, the helplessness he felt that day…actually I don’t really understand why I still live…”

She looked to be remorseful, but that doesn’t change anything…

“You live only to atone. Your life is in my hand dare do anything that displeases me, and you will not see the light of another day…” I said fully clearing her thoughts about why she was left to live. She needed to live with the guilt, only then will she know of my suffering…

“Yet the others, a simple death is not enough, I have the means to make them feel eternal pain. And I intend on using them…”

“You became heartless, Daiki…perhaps even mad…” said Haruka holding a tear.

“Perhaps both, but that doesn’t excuse their deeds…nor will it change my decision.”

“Is that all?” said the demon king

“I saw the map of this continent, it seems small compared to others, and I would like to know few things”

“What are they?” said Lilith

“How many demon kings are there, how many nations and who rules what land?”

“There is only one demon king, and it is I, yet unluckily, our nation exists near the human borders, there are other countries and kingdoms of various races spread around the world. The elven race actually shares a portion of this continent with theirs, they have taken over most of the open lands in the eastern side of the land, the southern region is home to a ferocious race, born from one of the first ideas, War…they are the Berserkers, a vicious and most dangerous race, thrive for battle and ruin while not caring for knowledge. The western region is a vast and endless sea that is said to host the end of the world. Finally, The northern region is filled with mindless beasts, they are ferocious and some is said to have even surpassed the millennial level…this was due to the influence of the mountain of glory”

…the mountain of glory…interesting.

“Very well, what I have in mind is quite simple, like I said before, I have a debt to settle” I said the words and checked the girls’ expressions and they seemed to be feeling a bit down.

“Once I finish subjugating the heroes, I will make sure to bring down the church and its followers. Don’t ask about details because I will not be telling you. But you will be sure to know when that happens, after that, if you wish to invade the human kingdom then do as you please, I won’t help you though.”

“Fair enough, though I would require something from you first.” Said Lilith

“To this day, I have graced you with many benefits, and having promised to give you the magic that will help you return to your world, you have to give something in return, though taking the magic and claiming that you are the current holder is not bad of a tradeoff it is still not satisfying…I require more of you, more, that you can easily help me accomplish”

Well, I am in no need to help, nor is she giving any strong or valid reason to force me to help her. She knows well enough that if I choose not to I can refuse but still, she tried to do it…she is desperate.

“What is it that you require?” I said with a grin on my face revealing that I know of her intentions yet still complied.

“W-well…I need to have a better hold over the situation of this country, I am losing control over the state and the people day by day, if the council continues on with their plotting it will be lost to me soon…”

“your situation does not surprise me, but worry not, I have the solution, and it is quite simple.”

“What is? If I may ask.”

“Simple, kill them all off.”

“What? You can’t do that, the people will go mad!”

“Not if I was the one that did it.” I said

She then asked

“What do you mean?”

“It is simple really, I will take them all down. Then you will present yourself as their savior… this will bolster your standing with the people and eliminate the council.”

“You are willing to make yourself the enemy of an entire race just for that?” said Lilith

“It makes no difference, if they can do anything about it then let them come at me, I won’t run.”

“No, there has to be a better way!” said Lilith refuting the obvious decision

“There is no other way…” I said to which she sighed in resignation.

“Now, tell me of how we are going to get to the capital”

“What do you mean, we?” said Haruna

I looked at her and grinned, making her understand that they were coming with me.

To which she paled a bit then slouched.

“Well, there are two entrances towards the human kingdom. Both of them are passages through deep cliffs, the closest is about four days hors ride, but it is quite far from the capital if your intrusion is discovered you will find a lot of difficulties” she then added

“The second, requires you to travel through the dark forests of our kingdom then exit through the second valley, it is much closer to the capital, but has a bit more defenses”

“I will be taking the second passage…so when will the spell be ready?” I asked

“I wanted to speak about this especially today, the magicians that are unlocking the seal upon it found out that it will be taking more days to accomplish...optimally it will take about nine days…”

“This is going to take a lot of time…I guess I can use the time at hand to visit the human kingdom…Alright it is steeled, tomorrow shall be the first day of travel. We will be giving them a visit. I hope they could satisfy me though, I have an army to feed…”
