Chapter 2

Daiki POV.

I was within a dark space, unable to use any of my spells, unable to move and can’t do anything. It was suffocating but not painful, the inability to move really made me hate this predicament. But I can’t do anything.

And so I remained chained without hope to leave by my own power, and I just had to rely on others to get me out of here. Indeed this is a lesson I needed to learn, I should never have let my guard down.

Things had indeed changed from the first day I came to this world, where I was but a guy that tried to scrap anything to survive. I remember where I was cleaning the sewers to get my share of food. But now, I grew strong enough to be arrogant, to rely on the thing I didn’t believe in, to rely on my inability to die, and for that, I was rewarded with eternal imprisonment. Hell was not enough, so I was sealed outside the world, quite the smart strategy. If you can’t kill your enemy just lock them up.

But now, I can’t do anything productive it is a shame…

‘I wonder what the others are doing.’

Ah, what a shame…

I might probably be able to connect to my inner well of souls. I thought to myself.

My abilities have been sealed by my mind is still active, I should probably be able to interfere with the torrent of souls.

Then I began to concentrate on how to access it. And instantly I found myself within it. The torrent of souls grew smaller, but it looked denser.

“You seem to have been entrapped,” said The Sacrilegious King Vendir.

“Indeed, and you seem to have grown stronger… I said as I looked at the man that was glowing now. He must have consumed countless idle fragments, as the wails were muted and only more powerful souls remained to roam the place.

“What have you done Vendir?”

“I have been doing some cleanup, no more broken souls remain within this place. Now, what will you do in this spare time you have?”

“I don’t think I can do anything.”

“Well don’t give up hope, this place is your soul, and in it, you can be a god.”

“What do you mean?”

“Think about it, here you are not bound by the limits of Mana or your body, you can grow in wait for the day you are released.”

“Really?” I asked doubtingly.

“Indeed.” He replied

“Then what is in it for you?” I asked there was no way this person would help without compensation.

“I will need you to free me once you leave this place.”

“ree you? Like, resurrect you?” I said.

“You won’t need to resurrect me yourself I can handle that, I just need you to summon me in a body like you do to the Forgmage.”

“Ah, where is he I hope you didn’t hurt him.”

“No, he is safe. Now tell me will you do that once you are set free? In exchange I will teach you all about magic, how you can use your powers, and to achieve your true potential, you are doing fine for a warrior, but your magic is severely lacking.” He said

“I will have to think about it,” I said

“You have all the time in the world to do that, so let’s just start and once you are released from this place you can think about it then,” he said as he summoned to his hand a scepter, similar to the one he used to wield.

“let's start with the basics,” said the King as he summoned hundreds of floating fireballs.

Haru POV.

“Who the fuck are you?” I said as I was first to speak, this guy looked like a middle-aged man with green hair, I mean who the fuck has green hair nowadays!

“Easy there boy, I came in to help. Hmm, who amongst you is named Haruka?” said the man with the green hair.”

“That would be me.” Haruka she clearly looked perturbed about this whole mess especially that now we are back in the dark forest when a single moment ago we were atop a mountain.

“What happened there? Where is Daiki?” said Haruka her worry growing by the second.

“Well, Daiki will not be available for the moment. Anyway, he asked me to give you these…”

He said as he handed her two items; a round fruit that looked like an orange and a crystallized object… it looked like a tear.

“What is this? Asked Haruka.

“You would know once you inspect them.”

Now that I think about it. I didn’t even inspect this man, I should probably do.

“Holy shit!” I said, “Get away from this guy!” I said as I brought my weapon up and my shield, I instantly stood in front of him. There was no way I would let this Devil trick us.

“What is it Haru?” asked Misaka

“That thing is a Devil! And a strong one. Get behind me.” I said while trying to think of a way out of this mess.

“Hmm, interesting.” Said the Devil “You think that I am your enemy? On what basis?”

“Isn’t it obvious, Devil!” I said while insisting on the last word.

The girls brought up their weapons and prepared to fight. We don’t know how we will handle this, especially with Daiki gone but we really need to run.

“You guys are mistaking something,” said The Devil but I didn’t even bother listening to him as I struck down with my hammer.

The moment it made contact the devil disappeared, and the hammer struck the earth, freezing a portion of it.

This was the unique ability of this Warhammer that Daiki made.

“You should really listen before yous tart judging people,” said the Devil as he appeared behind me. I then tried to bash him with my shield but couldn’t land a hit. I tried my hardest to just touch him, but he evaded without even moving a muscle.

The girls behind were shocked and were unable to understand what was happening, Haruka, however, brought her weapon and prepared to attack. Misaka too, she began chanting some strange words, as she readied her magic.

“Sigh,”

The devil’s red eyes shone and I couldn’t even more

“Much better.” Said the Devil as he stood alone.

“You guys are not as fun as Daiki, you are far too hot-headed. I just said I was his friend and even ave you some items of his… if I were an enemy you would have died the moment I wanted to so be grateful…” said The Devil while none of us could speak.

“Anyway, those items I guess Daiki wanted for you to resurrect the being within that tear. That shouldn’t be a problem, the only remaining ingredient is to find a proper body… That shouldn’t be a problem, wait here for a second” said The Devil as he disappeared from sight.

Once the duration of the paralyzing effect finished I was gasping for air, even my lungs had stopped working.

“Huff-Huff, what the fuck was that?!” I said

The girls were also gasping for air. As they sat down.

“I don’t know, but that just showed us the difference between us and what Daiki was fighting against… I think I remember Daiki mentioning this man, he said that he was the most annoying person he ever met in his life… and it seems that he spared us.” Said Haruka

“We should move away from here…” Said Misaka “Before he returns.”

“I think you are right, let's go back to the demon king’s palace, we can think up of a plan to bring back Daiki from wherever he went.”

“Where are you going?” said the Devil as he came back holding a dead person’s body, it was rotten and old flesh and bone barely attached to it…

“What are you? What do you want?” I said as I brought my shield up, I know I don’t stand a chance against him, but if I could delay him… the girls might escape.

“Don’t act the hero, you know well enough that you don’t stand a chance, now sit down and wait.” Said the Devil as he placed the corps on the ground.

“You, big tits. Haruka was it? Hand me those items” said the Devil.

I really wanna smack his face.

Haruka didn’t say anything and just threw the two items at him.

“Good, he placed the tear in the chest of the dead skeleton and squeezed the fruit on top of it.

Nothing happened at first

“What a waste of a fruit of life… I don’t understand why Daiki wanted to bring back the one responsible for all of his troubles… sigh,” said the Devil.

A blinding light soon enveloped the dead body as its flesh began to mend, from rotten slabs of meat to a pink colored skin, the dead body came back to life in the image of a most beautiful woman.

She rose back and looked around, scraps of old clothes were hanging on her body. Unfortunately, they were covering all the essential parts… ‘damn’

“Where is this?” asked the person. But the moment she looked at the Devil she said “Ah… so he managed to leave and brought me with him. Hmm.”

“W-who are you?” said Haruka

“Me? Why don’t you check for yourself?”

I did so to see who this person was

“It seems that I didn’t lose much of my powers. Beelzebub, where did you find this body?”

“It was the only body that emanated the strongest amount of mana… it belonged to one of the oldest heroes that invaded this world ages ago. I think the people that were guarding its room will be a bit displeased. Especially that now you look exactly like her.” Said the Devil named Beelzebub as he laughed.

“Where is Daiki?” she said

“How do you know about Daiki miss Shara?”

“Miss? Ah indeed, I no longer am bound to Annwen, yes, Daiki was… my courtesan to say.”

“c-courtesan… you say, so you are that Archangel…” said Haruka while her face reddened probably like she remembered something.

Courtesan… Daiki was… hitting that? Damn.

“So, where is he? I missed him, I really want to see him again, I have much to say…”

“Yeah, there is a problem…”

“What is? Is he dead?” said the Archangel

“Not exactly, but… he was sealed outside this dimension.”

“Solomon…” said The archangel named Shara.

“We should head there now. Beelzebub take me there!”

“Well, I can’t, he will probably detect my intrusion if I were to use my ability, and you know Solomon well…”

“Indeed, we will have to get there by foot then, the range of his power, thoroughly covers his domain…”

“What is going on here?” I said “I have no idea who this Solomon is, who are you lady Shara and this devil what is going on here? Can someone please explain?” I said

The girls probably had the same opinion.

“Daiki holds the key to upsetting the tyranny of the Divine.” Said the angel lady “And the one that sealed him outside time and space can only be Solomon, he is the only one capable of overwriting the rules of the world. If we need to get Daiki out, we need to get to Solomon. However, that man is a troublesome person, not easy to convince if not presented with appropriate compensation.” Said the woman in a calculative manner.

She looks rather cold… almost as if she was speaking to insects… I don’t know why but I can feel her judging eyes even if she was not looking at me. She probably believes us to be a liability than an aid. Damn.

“Where is this Solomon?” said Haruka

“In the southern region, the Great Desert. It is ruled by that man. There is a lone palace that rules on nothing but dangerous beasts and sand.” Said the Devil.

“Then what are we waiting for? We should go there soon.” Said Haruka disregarding the part where the lady mentioned the dangerous beasts that live there.

“I can get us instantly to the borders of the desert, but not a single meter more. My ability is disabled in that place.”

“Then let’s go, what are we waiting for?” said Haruka.

“Hang on, shouldn’t we rest first? We just fought a damn Pheonix and barely managed to survive, we need to gather our thoughts and think up of a plan.” I said as I tried to sound convincing.

“NO! there is no time for plans, Daiki could be suffering right now, he is indeed strong, but he is now alone in some forsaken place with nothing but damned souls for company!” she said shouting while her eyes looked at tear point.

“You care for him that much.” Said the angel lady

“Yes, more than you would know, now let's go.”

Huh? She admitted it? Well… Daiki you just became popular where the hell are you?

“Let's go then,” said the Devil as he moved his hand up. It was too sudden to even react as the lush green of the forest changed to that of an ever-spreading desert of sand and stone.

“What the hell just happened?”

“We are at the borders of Solomon’s reach. This is the most where I can use my ability. Now we will have to deal with that man’s pets.”

“Pets?” I said in the question.

The sand before me then moved as if it was exploding and an enormous snake made of stone emerged as it hissed at us while glaring menacingly with its golden eyes.

Stone Basilisk

And I did as he said, after all, we have a strong Devil and a powerful looking Archangel beside us.

Two more mounds of sand exploded revealing two other snakes.

“Now you can panic.” Said Beelzebub as the three snakes looked at us menacingly.
