Chapter 98 Reigar the Lichbane
“Hurry up take them down!” I shouted as we moved forward to another platform. Looking at how things are unfolding, this circle is getting harder and harder by the second.
Things were rather relaxed at first, for the first dozen platforms we had the ability to destroy these things with ease. So we could have taken our time, yet a huge problem appeared later on.
It was that small sun-like object
Long lost Sun-disk
A treasure of a lost warrior able to attack all that flies at a certain range.
Damage
250 000.
Hp
1/1
Indestructible.
This was the item that prevented us from using our flight abilities. It slowed us a bit, but the problem was not that it just prevented us from flying…
After we reached a quarter of the way, the sun disk lit up and began spinning. I seriously thought that some of us used a flight like-ability but it seems that it was not the case.
At first, we ignored it, but then the reason behind its steadily growing spinning was what truly did us in.
It shot a small ray of light at the farthest platform, right at the rim of the whole circle. The light ray destroyed the edge of the platform and began circling the whole field.
Slowly grinding the whole space into dust, the ray of light would slowly close in reducing the numbers of the platform as a whole.
At this rate, it would take but an hour for it to reach the door, and if we keep the slow pace we will be either killed by the light or the platforms we stand on will crumble to dust and we will fall in the deep chasm. All in all, it was the worst case scenario.
For this circle, though no boss was apparent, this sun disk was really a bitch especially with the growing number of these bugs that right now numbered the hundreds.
If this was all that would have been all right. However, we noticed something
“Stop killing them and run!” I shouted at everyone.
And they all understood. Don’t kill any more than necessary for us to move forward or we all die!
“Stupid damned traps in this stupid damned circle! Why can’t we just fight the boss directly! GAA!” roared Haru with anger as he just bashed around two of the flies that were harassing him and move forward.
The problem was that the more of this thing we kill… the faster the sun disk spun, thus decreasing our time in reaching the door!
However, if we don’t kill them, they will spawn with more vigor and attack us in endless waves.
What a dilemma!
“We need to rush forward, the next platform is close!” said Vendir as he was first to jump forward while everyone followed.
The next platform was much faster than the one we were standing on, but this only meant that more mobs will spawn.
“Ignore everything!” I said as we moved forward.
The spawned monster this time emerged before us, blocking the path.
“Nemu! Blow them up! We cant be held here” I said
“The disc will close in faster if we do so!” said Haruka
“If we don’t open a path through them it's as good as waiting for the sun disk to reach. Just do it!”
Nemu then stood tall and sucked in a deep breath. Right after that, his lungs were filled with energy as his nose began fuming with green flames.
Exhaling forcefully a dark green torrent of energy shot forward destroying the still spawning minions to dust.
A shockwave forced them apart as sparks of green energy flew across space while the dragon breath culled their lives and crossed a huge distance almost reaching all the way to the gate.
“Holy crap! Op-Op!”said Haru as he laughed merrily as he moved forward.
“Close your mouth and run! The sun disk is rotating faster!” I said as I rushed toward the opening that was created by Nemu’s blast.
“Why don’t you try your new ability Daiki?” said Misaka as she was closest to me.
“It takes some time to cast, by the time I will start channeling it I will be swarmed with those bugs and even if it works and the sun disk doesn’t shoot me down, only I will reach the gate, We came too far together for me to let you and leave by myself right?” I said with a grin as I moved forward.

Indeed that ability can make me almost invulnerable but I didn’t dare risk it, it takes about 10 seconds to use and it can be interrupted, and with these bugs here a second’s delay can make one drawn in their attacks. Though alone they are weak, when they are together, that is a whole other story.
Few more rounds of the same thing happened, we jump on a new platform and blast open a path toward the next, the sun disk will close on us at a ridiculous sped, but we will still close the distance to the gate at the same speed. The only problem was the constant increase of the bugs and their annoying buzzing that became louder and louder as time would pass.
Looking behind me, I saw a few of the bugs that were rather far away, probably left behind by the enormous swarm of the locust swarm like creatures that were chasing us without rest.
The sun disk will rip through any that were farther behind, and while in doing so, it will kill them and increase its own speed.
This is not going to do! The bugs will be killed by the disk and it will increase its speed! The faster it gets the more bugs will die and it will get fast enough that none of us will survive at this pace!
“Vendir!” I shouted
“I know!” he said then dived forward while levitating himself off the floor.
A sunray was soon shot from the dist and headed toward Vendir, However, thankfully it was much slower than the first ray that was shot towards him
“Oh! It seems that the sun disk can’t Multitask! Everyone! Use your flight abilities!” I said as I turned toward Nemu
“Nemu you have to carry the three of them!” I said as I turned around trying to tell Shara what to do, but before I could even speak, she sprouted two sets of wings and grabbed me by the waist pulling me forward at a crazy speed
“You are mine!” she said with a sheepish smile
“Sigh. Let's go forward then”
Nemu then grabbed Haruka and Misaka each in one hand and grew giant wings from his back
“Hey what about me!” said Haru as he was the only one left
Yet before he could finish his words a tail slid between his legs and pulled him upside down as Nemu exploded with speed moving forward leaving all of us behind.
“Holy crap he is fast!” I said as I saw Haru’s face paling from both fright and being upside down and moving at an astonishing speed.
Dozens of rays of light shot forward from the sun disk aiming at us, but without the ability to perfectly multitask the rays were all a miss, some even ripped through the minions that flew forward adding to the kill count.
The sun disk began to spin at a crazy speed rendering every platform to dust, the rate at which the disk was moving increased rapidly and almost in no time it was already on our tail.
It moved at a rapid speed ripping apart everything in its way.
“Faster!!!” I said to Shara who seemed to be lagging a bit behind.
At Nemu’ side a huge group of those bugs emerged and tried to block his way, but with prices shots of dragon breath, he opened a pathway enough for us to move through.
“You asked for it!” I shouted
“Soul eruption!”
Calling about the power of souls brought forward an immense sphere of green energy, wails of long-dead souls could be heard from it, pain and agony yet still a deep hatred for all that lived could be felt from it.
“Destroy!”
I cased as I launched the bomb using Abyssal projection. It appeared hundreds of meters forward right atop the golden gate.
“What are you doing Daiki! The explosion will hit us that way!” said Haruka as she was the closest to the sphere due to Nemu’s ridiculous speed
“Don’t worry!” I said as I pressed my hand forward
“Controlled explosion!”
Immediately the sphere blew up, dying the world in a green light, however only the region where my team was at did not suffer from any damage while the energy waves crushed and destroyed any being that stood in its way.
Blood began to seep from my nose and mouth moments later but that was only an aftereffect of the ability, it puts an immense mental strain on the user. Controlling that much energy is bound to cause a person to faint, while I only suffered some mental strain.
The gate was cleared of all creatures, while it shone as bright as a candle in a dark space.
“Go inside!” I said and without waite, Nemu and I were first to enter the gate while everyone else followed.
The world turned white for a moment before we ended up in another place.
“Damn that was close!” said Haru
“Nah, that was calculated!” I said as I grinned from ear to ear to ear
If it was not for the fact that the sun disk’s aim became shitty after shooting that spinning ray of light, we would have been killed a hundred times over for trying to fly our way out of it.
That stage was one huge clusterfuck of a trap, if you are slow you will get killed by the ray of light, if you are fast you will spawn more minions that will block your way if you try to fly you will be shut down. And if you go with a moderate pace the ray will start killing the bugs increasing its speed automatically.
I wonder how can anyone besides us even manage to clear this dungeon?
The first stage was alright, being forced to fight that big ass snake would be expected, however the second stage is a bit, not only would anyone be forced to take judgement from that guy, no matter how strong they are, they cannot escape the judgement, and even if they somehow end up ‘surviving’ the judgement, they will be stopped at the tower filled with restrictions… only to end up in this circle of faith.
Faith my ass!
I might have been a bit too hypocritical saying that it was calculated that we managed to clear that stage, but to be honest that was some really close call shit.
Looking at where we stood it was another space with a dark chasm and giant stone pillars where we are standing.
These pillars were square in shape, almost 40x40 meters and with a length all the way to the bottom of this bottomless looking pit.
“Welcome challengers!” said a man who stood at the furthermost pillar. Behind him was a giant door that obviously led to another space. I just hop it is the door to the next circle otherwise we will really be making no progress.
The man looked like a normal human in his forties, however, he was handsome pitch black hair that flowed all the way to his back and had a giant sword in his right hand. and on his left hand was a round shield of epic proportions, that thing must at least weigh a ton!
The man was wearing a lot of silver armor adorned with golden linings.
Raigar Saida
(The Lichbane!)
Demigod
Boss class!
Level 2999
Once the brother of a powerful mage chose to follow the faith of the Divine to become one of their pillars
Raigar Saida led a war against all dark magic user and necromancers thus earning him the title
The Lichbane!
“Oh, finally a boss! Now we can fight to our heart’s content!” I said as I brandished my sword
“However, that guy has the same family name as yours Vendir, heh don’t tell me is he one of your relatives?” I said with a laugh.
Vendir held his right hand up and said
“Everyone… please back down, I will be the one to fight this man” he said
“Eh why?” I said, “We are a team remember?”
“Yes, however… he is my brother, and it is only right for me to fight him! No one is allowed to do so but I!” said vendir as he floated up and cracked space with his left free hand
His bony finger then grabbed a dark aura exuding book and opened it. Dark magic began to gather around him shrouding Vendire with an unwholesome power.
“Brother!” (Vendir)
“Brother!” (Reigar)
And the both of them began their epic fight!
