Chapter 49 (Ride out)

Chapter 49

Misaka POV

I was with Haruna back in our room before we went to sleep, yet Haruna didn’t want to until Haruka comes back from where she was being treated from the effect of that drug. Honestly speaking I never imagined someone capable of showing those looks, especially Haruka…she was a girl that came from one of the oldest houses back in Japan more so, they were quite conservative and very strict regarding their behavior around other people, to conserve their dignity and honor, so that their head would always remain high.

Yet yesterday, just a sip from a drug and almost everything went to the drain. I hope that this doesn’t affect her emotionally…people like her tend to easily get destabilized, and will probably not take it the right way.

The door opened and a very angry Haruka came in

She had a sinister smile on her face I almost thought she resembled an Oni. She then kept repeating the words

“I will kill him! Definitely I will kill him!”

Haruna got up and hugged her, the little girl looked worried over her then she said

“What are you thinking Haruka?! If you even try to do that the collar will kill you…”

“No, I am not talking about Daiki. It’s that bastard of a giant! I swear I am going to rip off his head!”

Whoa scary…

“To make me drink something like that…to have me act that way!!! It was so embarrassing I want to die! I seriously will kill him!”

Haruka then laid face first on her bed, wallowing in embarrassment…she had no control over what happened. But still the feelings of guilt are strong especially with her status on the line.

Thinking about things, I understood one thing clearly, I then said to the girls.

“We are most fortunate to have met Daiki…evil or not, mad or sane, it doesn’t matter. He saved us from a horrible fate, now that I see what just happened. If by some chance we were bought by one of the other men on that slave market, and had drank that potion…I don’t even want to imagine something like that…”

Haruna shuddered at the thought and said

“No, he should not be trusted…he went coucou on the head for having went to hell, I think that sooner or later his libido will take control over him and he will come and do all heinous acts!”

Why the hell is her face not matching her words when she is saying things like that…it’s as if she wants it…

“Daiki is not like that…unfortunately…” said Haruka but I didn’t quite get the last word as she spoke it as if it was a whisper.

“What do you mean? I asked”

“He will not take advantage of anyone when they are in their weakest, especially women. If he had wanted to do anything to us, he would have done so from the beginning. He is not bound to anyone or anything, morals or laws cannot be applied to him, at least not in his current state, he is strong enough to take anything he wants, and no one can do anything about it. So don’t worry, if he had wanted to do anything he would have done so, long ago…”

“It’s as if you are disliking it…” I teasingly said to her

The girl grabbed a pillow and buried her face in it letting out a muffled

“No! You are wrong…”

Heh, does she like him perhaps? Or maybe the effects of the drug are still lingering in her system…

Well it doesn’t matter, I am still alive…I still have the chance to do many things…forgiveness may probably be granted to me, who knows…

We then went to sleep. A dreamless night was what I had, so I slept until we were woken up by the maids.

Though only few hours had probably passed, I felt quite refreshed.

We washed ourselves, and put on some clothes prepared by the maids. They were nicely made leather items, tight jackets and long slim pants, added to a dark blue blouse to wear under the jackets…only Haruna got a skirt, and an almost gothic-Lolita looks.

These outfits look similar to Daiki’s with only the collar as difference. To show who the master from the slave probably.

Once we got down, Haruka who used to lead the way, was looking a bit…hesitant, she was looking all around her as if not wanting to meet someone…

We had breakfast in the same dining room we had dinner in yesterday. However this time there was no Daiki and no Demon king, their absence was a bit disappointing and disturbing…

“You guys really think that we will be going to attack our fellow humans?” said Haruna

Sigh that again…

Haruka then spoke as if explaining our situation, and adding an information I had forgotten about.

“We have no say in the matter actually, though I strongly object attacking our former classmates, I have no reason not to take my revenge against the church, it is indeed quite hard to do, as a matter of fact conceding to this means that we will have to kill other human beings, but not doing so will result in our death, or us forcibly doing what we don’t like.”

“Then what are we supposed to do.” Said Haruna

“Sadly, we only have to agree with it and hope for the best…no matter how cruel Daiki had become, he did so, so he won’t lose his sanity I guess. He clung to revenge as a mean to save his mind from falling into madness, within hell I don’t really think any of us has the ability to survive or remain focused on his objective, yet he did so, against frightening odds, I saw it, I saw some moments of his trials, thought only vague and not detailed, I know for a fact that there were beings there capable of destroying worlds if they so wanted it, yet he fought, struggled and braved through all of that just to come back…we can’t fault him if he wants revenge, it is his right…but, if it is possible, we should at least try and convince him to spare the rest…”

“He won’t do it.” I said

“No he will! I will do my dam best to ensure he would. Look at us, we survived the herald…they might probably be spared too…I hope”

True, even I who never thought that I will live another moment once he grabbed at me got to survive…perhaps they still got a chance, at least the ones that didn’t do anything to him…as for the hero party…I strongly doubt their survival…I even feel guilty that I was spared…talk about being a hypocrite…

“Let’s stop thinking about these depressing stuff, shall we?” said Haruka.

“I wonder where Daiki is actually.”

“Right here.” Said Daiki who suddenly showed up…

Startled everyone turned around to see him walking in in all casualness. As the words he had said about attacking a kingdom yesterday were just forgotten memories.

Haruka looked red faced, probably remembering yesterday’s incident, and her eyes refused to meet with Daiki’s.

While Haruna was puffing her cheeks in a cute way but didn’t say a word.

“We will be going soon, get up.” he said, and turned around.

He didn’t seem to have forgotten his words…we really are going to attack a kingdom…

(Daiki POV)

Having entered the dining room I asked the girls to follow me. I turned around and walked away feeling their presence behind mine as they got up and followed suit.

They didn’t complain or argue, the words were in their throats but they didn’t come out. Better this way, the less complains I have the less annoying it will be to carry out this mission.

Another reason to attacking their kingdom has risen within the last few hours

After I had left the market place, I went back to the library to stockpile on some books. Interestingly enough, I found out about a way to reach the upper realms. I was intrigued when there were many maps of this world, all of them stating that this new world named Gaya is actually flat!

Confidentially this actually makes a lot of sense, I still remember when Beelzebub said that one of this world was summoned to earth a couple of millennia ago, The one that spoke when he was a child and was able to turn water into wine, he was using magic of this world and was worshiped later on, his world was flat so he probably gave them the notion basing it on his knowledge…quite fitting if I may say…

Now, what I found out was that the end of the world there exist a rift linking this realm to the upper one, but the knowledge of these facts is lost, or at least incomplete, the rest of the information is within the capital of the human kingdom, precisely it is thought to be owned by the Pontiff…I think I would want to meet him.

Once outside the palace, there was a huge caravan waiting for us. Riding on the front was a hooded man, that didn’t show his features. The caravan was horse powered, yet they don’t look like regular horses…they are made with magic, and inspecting them yielded nothing. Inspecting the whole caravan gave information, about it being a carriage that is made by magic and powered by it.

Moments later the girls showed up and were followed suit by Lilith.

“Have a safe journey, Daiki “Said Lilith then after a pause she added “…I know for a fact that you are strong, but are you really capable of doing what you said? You could use some of my elite soldiers, they can prove to be quite handy?”

“No need, Lilith” I said “I have enough power to force them to kneel down to me, use your soldiers to protect you…You should know by now that the council will do their best to make sure that you and I don’t work together. Though they had sent few spies and assassins that I can clearly sense even now, after me. Once they understand that they cannot do anything to me, they will bear their fangs towards you, be it by smearing your image or outright killing you…so be careful. I will be back within two weeks, make sure you are still alive. I still need you to prepare that magic for me”

“I know that more than anyone Daiki, but thank you for the advice…” she said and then walked away gripping tightly her fists.

She knows she is in danger, and still didn’t want to seem weak, quite the resolve she has. At least resolve that is necessary to be a demon king.

We rode the carriage and headed out. It was quite large, but only had four available sitting spots. So Haruka sat at my right, and the two other sat in front of me.

She looked to be fidgeting a bit, but I didn’t give it any mind. The other too looked a bit restless though.

The ride began and it was surprisingly comfortable, it seems that there is a mechanism reducing the shaking of the carriage. Quite advanced if I may say.

I was assured that the driver knows our destination, and so I let him do his job, however before we reach the borders, I will make sure to make a small detour, I have read in one of the books within the library, that there exists a nest of something I always wanted to see…

A black dragon’s nest…
