Stage Act 20: Bloody Messy, VI

Stage Act 20: Bloody Messy, VI

We walked past the many statues of past generations of Twilight Knights and then arrived at a door.

It opened and we were greeted with a remarkable sight, a giant window overlooked the room and the room that was the size of a large hall was filled with bookcases, books were everywhere. 'A book lover's heaven.' Was the first thought that came to mind.

Two things stood out the most, a stand where five grand-looking swords stood and a desk where that woman who gave Pandres the supplies and clothes sat.

She was a young woman, around Pandres' age, wore the same clothes as us, had light brown hair, blue eyes, and wore glasses.

She stood up from her seat and smiled at us, "Greetings, I'm sorry I didn't inform you of my identity as soon as we met, I just wanted to scout you out first." She held her hand out to Pandres.

After Pandres, she turned to me, "I've heard many tales about you." She returned to her seat and sent the guards away.

"My name is Lunar M. Twilight, the 25th Twilight Knight." She grabbed one of the books off the floor and returned it to a bookshelf.

"My name is Pandres."

"Mine is Sebastian." She looked back at us and took off her glasses.

"Let's get right to the point, If my information is correct, you both came from the capital after being accused of assassinating Duke Ozyman and kidnapping his daughter?"

"Yes, we were accused of those things." I'll just let Pandres handle it.

"But you'll say you didn't do it, am I correct?" She gazes at the swords.

"Yes."

"Hmmmmm…" me and Pandres shared a glance as it seems she has zoned out.

She picked up one of the swords and sat on top of her desk, "I'll be truthful, we quite frankly don't care about what you might or might not have done. I'd just appreciate it if you kept us out of your political situation with the capital."

"Now, you, I've heard you're a student of the Daybreak style?" She points the sword at me.

"Yes."

"Hmmmmmm…" she zoned out once again.

"I'm curious, what is your end goal?" Pandres looks her dead in the eyes.

"Take my place as the rightful king of Spurcius." She doesn't look too shocked at the grand declaration.

"Would you like my support?" I was taken aback by this surprise proposal but it didn't even faze Pandres.

"You see, I'm sick of that old bum who sits on that throne and does nothing all day other than ask us to bend to his will." She jumped off the table and walked over to Pandre. They were now face-to-face with each other.

"So what's your answer?" With the sword in her hand, it was a mistake to let her get this close.

"No, I have no need for your support." The girl lets out a sigh and takes a few steps back.

"Because once I lift that sword, you'll have no choice but to support me." I like the enthusiasm and all but saying this to the Twilight Knight is dangerous and reckless.

She doesn't move a muscle, "Pandres, ready yourself." I whispered. I was tired but if we worked together then we could probably get away.

"Don't bother. If I wanted you dead then you'd already be on your way to the afterlife." Walks back to her desk.

'She wasn't lying, a head-on fight with her would only end in our demise. No matter how young a Twilight Knight is, they are still the pinnacle of swordsmanship.'

"I want you out of Twilight Town by tomorrow."

"The rumors have probably reached the capital by now, and I don't want a headache so leave as fast as possible." She pulls out another book from a drawer and wears her glasses.

I turn to Pandres, "It's time for us to leave." I was about to turn my back when I felt something strange.

'This feels too easy…' I glanced at the dark corner and there stood a shadow figure.

It pointed to look above a tall bookcase, I had to really focus but then I saw a man hidden by darkness holding a bow that pointed at us.

I looked at the other bookcases there were more, and we were surrounded.

"Pandres…"

"I already noticed." I have to stall.

"Ms. Twilight Knight, what of that woman that came with us." I have to figure out a way out of here.

"Hmm? I believe she's currently getting prepared to get punished for spreading hearsay and causing trouble."

"I want to see her, now." She looked up from her book.

"That won't be-" Suddenly the door burst open.

"Lady Lunar, there's been a break-in!" She glanced at the panicked knight.

"Then handle it?" Suddenly the man got blown past us.

"Long time no see, lil' missy." the owner of this nostalgic voice walked through the door.

She was holding that snake in her arm and her sword in the other.

I was in shock, "Look at you, kid!" My master dropped the snake and pulled me into a hug, I couldn't even resist, she was simply too strong.

"How dare you step foot here! Haven't I warned you before!?" The girl stood up enraged.

"Now, now, how dare you kidnap my dear disciple?" She pointed to the snake who had a terrified look on her face.

The girl was stuttering over her words from the sheer amount of anger she felt.

"Anyways, I'll be taking these three with me." I hoisted me over her shoulder and grabbed the snake and pulled Pandres by the shirt out of the way before the arrows landed where she was standing.

"Guards! Stop her!" Instead of running the way she came, my master ran at full speed at the girl.

She jumped over her before she could react and crashed through the giant window, now we were diving through the air.

I was forced to use wind magic to slow down our fall but thankfully, I wasn't alone since Pandres thought of the same idea.

"Well, aren't you both in sync?" She haughtily laughed as we softly landed in the courtyard of the school.

I looked up to see the girl yelling at us but we couldn't hear her, "Let's go before she gets down here." She dropped me and Pandres.

The snake had lost consciousness during the fall so she had to keep carrying her.

"Can you walk, kid?" I nodded and she then started to make her way through the courtyard with me and Pandres following behind her.

"Is that your master?" Pandres asked in awe as she looked at my master's back.

"Yes." We reached the gate which was blocked off by many knights.

Too bad for them my master wasn't as merciful as me, she handed the snake to Pandres and pulled out her sword.

She then noticed there were knights spilling out of the main building and scoffed.

"Sorry, but I can't play with you for long." She ran at them and stabbed each one of them in the chest, with each passing second another knight's heart was elegantly pierced by the master of Daybreak.

She danced through the crowd until there were no knights left, "she hasn't lost it." She then cut through the thick gate bars and ushered us through.

"Hmm they won't stop chasing us…" she stood in front of the gate and smiled her same old bloodlusted smile.

"You two go ahead." Pandres tried to argue that it was too dangerous.

"Don't bother, once the dunce's made up her mind, there's no changing it." After one last glance from Pandres, we left and started to run toward the inn.

"Are you sure she could handle all of them?" Pandres put the snake on her shoulders.

"She'll be fine, throughout this world and the next, not one person could match her in terms of resilience. No one in existence could put out her flames" We continued to run until we reached the inn.

The sun had already set and we were now in sight of the inn, "boy, are you two slow." She had already caught up to us.

She took the snake off of Pandres' hands, she was covered in blood, and I mean blood was still dripping off of her.

We entered the inn and thankfully, the man wasn't at the desk, Pandres ran ahead of us.

My legs were getting heavier and heavier with each step I took, "master…" she immediately understood and helped me walk.

We arrived and relief washed over me as I saw that Angel was safe and that Archibald was still there.

I immediately had to get to work, I started to pack our stuff, thankfully, most of it was still packed since weren't planning on staying for a long time.

Pandres explained the situation to Archibald and Angel as I packed and my master laid the snake on one of the beds and just watched.

"We're going to the next town, right?" I nodded at Angel's question.

"Shadow-Sun town, even further northeast." I got everything ready, I was a bit lightheaded so I leaned against the wall for support.

"Maybe we should stay the night and leave in the morning?" Pandres suggested.

"No, that Twilight Knight is too dangerous." Even if my master was here, an organized Twilight School attack would be too much, one of us would definitely get seriously hurt.

I handed the bags to Archibald and told him to go to the stables and put them into the saddle bags.

I made sure everything of mine was in my bag, "Pandres, Angel rides with you and if we get chased, I'll hang back and delay them."

She tried to argue but I had already left the room, "that's no way to speak to someone who's looking out for you." My master had followed me out.

"Her safety is more important than mine." I make my way through the hall.

"This is your new job?"

"Yes." She helped me down the stairs and out the door.

Angel and Pandres caught up to us, I look in the direction of the Twilight School and there was a crowd of knights coming this way.

We made our way to the stables and the horses were ready.

"Thanks, Archibald, I'll make sure to repay you in the future." I jump on the white horse, thankfully this time he let me on with no trouble.

Master looked at Angel and Pandres and then at me, "We'll hold them back while you three getaway."

"Nonsense, Archibald, you go join the crowd. And you run away, this is none of your business." She ignored me and turned to Archibald with a big smile.

"We can handle them, right, big guy?" He nods.

Before I could argue, master slapped the horse causing it to run at full speed.

I managed to get control over him and stop him so that Pandres could catch up.

I looked back and the two of them were standing in front of the mob, 'damn it, I know Master can handle them but I don't think Archibald could…'

'If only I didn't have this damn curse!' Pandres had caught up to me now.

"Just trust them." And with that, we rode into the night until we were far enough.

"I think this is far enough." We went into the woods and Pandres set up camp while I tied the horses to a tree.

I created a big tent with earth magic, I made sure to not use all my mana.

"I'll be on lookout duty-" she knocked on my forehead before I could even finish my sentence.

"No, you go in there and rest. I'm tired of you giving out orders and ignoring me, I'm the one who hired you remember?!" She was actually mad, which left me speechless.

I silently went into the tent, 'hope my master doesn't get too reckless…' Angel was outside with Pandres.

I lay on the cold ground and stared up wondering how we'll continue on from here on out.
