Stage Act 15: Bloody Messy, I

It was the dead of night but we finally arrived at the next town, it honestly could be considered a city, it was called Twilight Town. It was where the Twilight Knight, who is creator of the Twilight style was born. Anyways It took two days of travel to arrive but we were safe so I had no reason to complain.

Pandres was asleep and Angel was awake, so we chatted a bit, while those two went and booked us an inn.

"When did you learn how to fight?"

"Hm, I'd say I was taught how to fight from a very young age… let's say five or six."

"Oh I'm almost seven…"

"Not teaching you anything." I had to be firm with her, I can't let the kid think it was even a possibility.

"Wasn't going to ask… so who taught you how to fight?"

"At first, I was self-taught and then found someone willing to take me in as a disciple." Her eyes shined at the word disciple, I'm surprised she even knew what it meant.

"Can I be your disciple?"

"No."

"I'll get you to crack someday." Good luck with that.

"I know you're strong but are you really strong? Like imperium level strong?" I don't believe I've explained the ranking system on this continent.

It goes from weakest to strongest [Beginner, Advanced, Master, Imperium, Disaster]

There has only been one recorded Disaster in history and that was The First King. You are only classified as a Disaster if you have the ability to change entire landscapes.

And the Imperium rank is made up of people with unbelievable power, they are the ones who are capable of changing the tides of a war by themselves.

The Master rank is made up of people who have mastered their style of fighting or have created their own style.

Now back to the question, would I be considered an Imperium ranker?

"Haha no."

"Hm I see, then are you a master?"

"You could say that… it's hard to say, I've perfected the technique of Daybreak but I can't say I've mastered it."

"Daybreak?"

"That's what my sword style is called." Her eyes shined with curiosity.

"No." She then deflated back into her seat.

"Okay, so I only know you as Mr. Sebastian but what's your last name?"

"Don't have one."

"Really?"

"Yeah, just I'm just Sebastian, nothing more, nothing less."

"And you don't need to call me Mr, I'm fine with just Sebastian."

"No, a student calling their teacher by their first name is unheard of." Student? Whatever, she can call me whatever she wants.

I look at Pandres and she's still peacefully asleep, "Oi." That was our sign to get out.

"Pandres, wake up." I shake her to wake her up but she doesn't react.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"Pandres." No reply. I did the only logical thing and knocked on her forehead which successfully woke her up.

"What?" She sat up and rubbed the spot.

"It's time to go." We left the carriage and for the first time in hours, my legs touched the ground, and feeling finally returned to them.

We were stopped in front of some stables and the two horses were inside and we found the two standing waiting for us.

The idiot had eye bags while the brat was hunched over, I was going to tease them but I should probably cut them some slack, they've been working nonstop.

They lead us into the town and there were some people here and there but none gave us any attention.

"You can take off your hoods, you'll be fine here." Me and Pandres took off ours but unfortunately, Angel wasn't allowed to.

We were hungry so we went into a tavern and ate. Nothing of note happened.

After that, we went to the inn, "finally, I get to sleep on a bed." Pandres collapsed onto the bed and soon light snores filled the room.

It was an alright room, it was a definite downgrade from the last inn but it beat sleeping on the street. There were two beds, a table, and a bookshelf. Though there was no bathroom, you had to use the one on the first floor.

I settled my stuff and took off my robe, then I remembered I had some business to attend to.

"I'll be back." And with that, I left the room.

I knocked on the door to the neighboring room.

The door opened and I saw a man tied to a chair, it was the coward I caught that lead me to his comrades' camp.

The brat was the one who opened the door and the idiot was nowhere to be found, "where'd he go?" The brat closed the door behind me and put on some gloves.

"Went out to drink."

"Wasn't he tired?" He slapped the coward around to wake him up.

"That's his way of relaxing." The coward opened his eyes and almost fainted just by seeing me but the brat slapped him before he could lose consciousness.

Every time he saw me during the trip he immediately fainted while saying something about a 'monster'.

"Stay awake. If you fall unconscious one more time you won't wake up." The brat pulled out a chair and sat across from him, I went and sat on the bed behind the coward.

"Please I'll tell you anything j-just get him out of here!" The brat slapped him one more time.

'Yeesh, he's awfully violent.' But I wasn't one to talk, I did worse.

"You don't get to decide how this goes, cooperate and you'll live." He sounded like a real interrogator, he probably was one actually, he must've done it at least once as a knight.

"Who sent you?"

"The duke!"

"Quiet down. Why did you follow us?"

"I wasn't, I was just looking out for a noble carriage going down that road." He wasn't as loud as before but his voice was more shaken.

"I'm sorry but please, I'm terrified of him being behind me." The brat looks at me.

"I just keep having this feeling that h-he'll put his blade to my neck again!"

The brat looked at me with eyes that asked 'Just what did you do to this guy?'

"But if he sees me he'll just faint."

"I won't, I promise, just anywhere but behind me!" I reluctantly get up and get into his field of vision.

He doesn't faint but looks the brat dead in the eyes.

"Alright, let's continue."

"What is your name and job?"

"Ronald Best, Scout of the B-Blackhorse." Tears started to flow.

"Sorry, I'm just remembering what he did to them." He was remembering what I did… but I didn't kill any of them, I just gave them a good beating, so what is he so upset about?

The brat looked up at me with even more questions in his eyes but I just shrugged.

"And finally, if you agree we'll let you free." He nods with vigor.

"When the time comes would you be okay with testifying against the Duke?"

"Ye-" Blood came flying at us.

"What the fuck?!" We looked back up to see his head missing.

"Did his head just explode?!" The brat started hyperventilating.

I went in for a closer inspection and checked his neck, "nothing here," I took off his shirt and looked at his back, and found what I was looking for.

"An oath imprint." Strange, there were other magic users here and they were also on that ugly bastard's side? This makes things much more complicated.

I look back and the brat had thrown up on the floor.

"Get up, this is not the time to make things dirtier, we need to clean up." The blood had gone all over the walls and ceiling, he coughs up some more and then wipes his mouth.

"You're a knight, right? Shouldn't you be used to this type of stuff?"

"I've never seen someone's head explode! And t-there was no warning at all, it just happened!" He struggled to stand up.

"Is that what happens when you oppose the duke?! Could that happen to Elliot or me?!" I grab the body and turn it to show him the imprint.

"Unless you have one of these, you don't have anything to worry about." I set the body on the floor.

"It's just binding magic, it won't happen to you." The door suddenly opens and two blondes stumble in.

The idiot and some random woman.

My mind went to the first thing I thought of and went to knock out the woman but she looked at my face and then immediately collapsed on the floor before I could do anything.

They both reeked of alcohol, the idiot was mumbling about nonsense and walked past us.

The brat was speechless, I simply pushed the woman out of the door and locked it.

The idiot collapsed on the bed, and the brat stood up and walked over to him.

"If that happens to people who oppose the duke… then is it possible the duke also did that to him?"

"It's possible, but unlikely since his head hasn't exploded yet." He turns to me.

"We have to make sure."

"Then you do it."

"But maybe it's really hidden, you're more knowledgeable about this magic stuff." I kept denying him but he kept on bugging me so I eventually gave in.

To put it simply, we stripped him and found nothing.

"There happy? Now help me clean up." I threw a blanket over him and went to the door.

But there was a knock just as I went to open the door, "Sebastian, are you in there?" It was Pandres, you know what? The more the merrier, right?

"Wait a second." I quickly changed my bloody clothes with the idiots, wipe the blood off my face and hands using magic and slowly opened the door and got out.

"What's up?" I walk out and close the door behind me.

"I just wanted to check on what you were doing." I walk down the hall and she follows me.

"Just interrogated the coward, and something messy happened." She looks at me with a worried expression and then looked at my clothes.

"How messy?" We then went down the stairs.

"Bloody messy." We reached the desk and I asked the man for some cleaning supplies, he handed me a mop and a bucket of water.

We arrived at the door, "so what's her deal?" She pointed to the unconscious woman on the side.

"I couldn't tell you." I splashed some water on her face using magic, I wasn't about to use mop water to wake her up, I mean that's just inhumane.

"Where am I?" She slowly opened her eyes and held her head.

"Get up and leave, now." She looked up at me and quickly ran away.

"Was there some blood on my face?"

"Nope." Hmm did she possibly remember my face and what she saw? Possible, but I'm sure she didn't see the body or the blood.

"Anyways, do you mind helping or are you one of those who can't handle blood?" She shrugged.

"I'm helping either way." I slowly opened the door to the scene of a headless body, blood everywhere, a naked idiot, and a brat who had some color returned to his face.

We walked in and she just stared at the body in shock.

'I probably should've described the body to her first.'

I stood between her and the body and lifted her head to look at me, "If you can't do it then it's fine, I can handle it on my own." She nodded and then left the room, the brat noticed her and put on his coat before going after her.

'Now I'm alone with a naked guy and a headless body… what has my life come to?' Time to put my years of cleaning experience to work.
