Stage Act 14: False Framing, VII

The day had finally arrived and we were ready to finally leave what had been our hideout.

'I'll miss this place, some bad memories but this'll probably be the last comfortable place we'll have for a while." I was deep in thought as I waited in the lobby for Angel and Pandres.

'Living as an outlaw…' now it hit me that I was getting into some deep shit.

As I thought about how I'll live from now on the doors burst open, scaring the living daylights out of me.

It was the blonde idiot, "what the hell is wrong with you!" He was out of breath.

"Haaa listen I'm not used to running around doing errands! I have no choice but to be like this…" he was catching his breath, that brat probably had him running around all morning.

After he caught his breath he handed me the three papers in his hand.

"Take a look at this." I took them the first one was a wanted poster of Pandres, a man with long red hair.

"We tried to manipulate and get the most inaccurate description of the both of you, we even got some unknowing bystanders to describe you."

I looked at the other poster, it was of an old man…

"…okay," I said under my breath, I couldn't get mad they did what they were supposed to do.

The third one was of Angel, pale skin, blonde and blue eyes which was pretty accurate but you could find many children that looked like that.

"Unfortunately, she's too well known to even attempt to mislead people." Other than this we shouldn't get recognized by anyone.

"Make another poster after we leave."

"Huh, why? There are only three of you and my back's going to break from all this work!" I ignore his whining and begin to recall what he looked like.

"Shoulder length black hair, red eyes, a looker…" he asked the lady at the desk for a piece of paper and a pen and some ink.

"And he has a missing arm, the right one to be more specific." He shittly drew on the paper and then looked at me with suspicion.

"Who's this?"

"Doesn't matter, just make sure to spread it around." Rule number one of the Sebastian survival book: abuse your power, especially if it's only there for a limited time.

"Hmm, whatever." He stands up and waits by the doors.

'If he's an enemy then it's better to make his life hell. Want to go out or get something to eat? Not on my watch, Mr. Deceiver.'

"Sorry for the wait." They finally came down the stairs and I showed them the posters.

"Hm I do see the resemblance of both of them but we shouldn't get recognized." Resembles… maybe I should just dye my hair…

"Come on, you'll be late if we wait any longer and then It'll fall on my head." I put on my hood and Pandres says her goodbyes to the lady at the desk.

Then we left, the streets were bustling even though it was early in the morning, "why are there so many people?" Thankfully none were paying attention to us.

"This is why you should listen when Klaus explains things." I do remember him saying the timing was important… ah yes, they were holding a funeral for the old man and so many nobles from around the country would be coming to the capital, which is why we could sneak out in a noble's carriage.

Many people were wearing sad expressions, many were even sobbing on the ground.

'That old man must've been a really good guy to be mourned to this extent.' I looked at Angel and she just had a blank expression on her face.

'I wonder how she must feel.' We kept walking while keeping a low profile.

"Elliot?" We were stopped by two noble-looking women more specifically the idiot who was wearing his knight armor got stopped.

"Oh it's you two, my apologies, but I don't have time right now I have to escort them." He points to us and I move over to stand in front of Angel.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Oh sorry, we just wanted to ask why you haven't been coming to the gatherings as of late?"

"Oh, I've just been rather busy as of late y'know with all the business coming in."

"Why lie? You've never been one to care about your duties."

"Nonsense, I've always done my job." They probably would've kept going so I had to step in.

"Ahm!" He looked back and then remembered what he was supposed to do.

"I'm really sorry but we have to go." He waved them off and we continued walking.

"Why couldn't that brat escort us? Did it have to be you of all people?"

"Trust me, I'm thinking the same thing, if it wasn't for my bad decisions I wouldn't even be here." We turned a corner and were faced with a wall of people.

"Ah crap, we'll need to take the long way then." I stand on my toes to see what the people were looking at and a fat, ugly, old man standing on a podium comes to view.

That man was the old man's brother and he was giving a speech.

"I swear I will find the ones who murdered my dear brother and save my beloved niece!" He had a disgusting look in his eyes.

'This'll be fun.' I use wind magic to rattle the podium and to everyone's shock, he lost his balance.

"Huh?" The idiot looked over to see his father fall into the crowd who didn't even try to catch the fat bastard.

"Is he dead?"

"Serves him right."

"Hope he doesn't get up."

These were some of the whispers I heard as we continued walking. These people probably suspected that the assassination was his doing.

The idiot chuckled and kept on leading the way and we followed.

"You did that, didn't you?" Pandres whispered.

"Yeah, are you mad?"

"Nah, that was funny." We continued our walk until we reached a desolate street.

"And we've arrived on time, now where is Klaus?" He spoke to himself while looking around.

After a minute, we heard some galloping I looked to see the only animal I didn't ever want to see again.

It was the brat on another horse and that white rat of a horse pulling a fancy-looking carriage.

"Out of all the horses in the kingdom he chose that one? I would much rather ride a donkey…" Pandres laughed.

"I asked for him."

"Why?!"

"Well you saw the speed at which he went last time, he may be moody but he seems reliable when he needs to be." They stopped right in front of us.

While the brat and Pandres exchanged some words I glanced at the horse and It snorts at me, "The feeling's mutual, donkey."

Pandres climbs into the carriage and helps Angel, "Even horses don't like you?" I look to see the brat looking down at me with an irritating smile.

"This specific one just doesn't like men." He laughs.

"No, he likes me, it's just you." Pandres poked her head out of the carriage.

"Just so you know, the horse bit his hand." I try to get a look at his hand but he was hiding it behind his back.

"I asked you not to tell him!"

"Pfft, he hates me but at least he hasn't bitten me."

"Get on or we'll go without you." I just continued to laugh and got on.

Then the idiot tried to get on the donkey in horse's clothing but it just kept moving away, eventually after he was out of breath and then the donkey let him on.

I then made sure Pandres and Angel were wearing their hoods properly and then we set off.

We were going on a route only meant for high nobility so we should've been fine as long as those two were here, but I still wasn't going to let my guard down.

After half an hour of nonstop annoying galloping noises, the carriage came to a stop I readied myself for anything and then we heard voices on the outside.

"Who are you escorting?" It was a loud and commanding voice.

"We are not allowed to disclose the identities." The brat replied calmly.

"Unfortunately, we are under strict orders to check every person's identity." Multiple footsteps were approaching the carriage so I unsheathed my sword and looked to Pandres who still had a calm expression.

"Halt! We are also under strict orders not to reveal any information about the escorts no matter the circumstances." The brat quickly responded accordingly, there was a slight smile on Pandres' face.

"We're under Duke Michael's orders unless you're under the command of the King, we have the right to check." A shadow came into view right behind the curtain and reached their hand to pull apart the curtains.

"We are under the orders of the princess." Another shadow appeared and grabbed the hand.

"Hm I see, then sorry for the inconvenience, lord Klaus." After that, multiple footsteps backed away.

I sheathed my blade which was a centimeter away from the curtain and sat back down.

"Open the gate!" Soon we would be out of the capital's reach.

'Princess' orders? He didn't mention any of that…' Ah whatever doesn't matter to me.

After some time we were now on a rocky path evidently from the amount of shaking, then an uncomfortable sensation started up in my lower half.

"Ay, brat could you stop for a second?" Where did this come from all of a sudden?

"Why?"

"I really need to piss."

"Not possible, hold it in."

"We're already out of the hard part, we should be fine by now." It was starting to become uncontrollable.

"…fine." Then the carriage stopped and after poking my head out of the curtains, I confirmed that we were in the middle of a forest.

I quickly jumped out and went into the woods until I found a suitable bush.

After I relieved myself, I started my walk back to the carriage I found a man crouched behind a bush watching the carriage.

'He hasn't noticed me yet.' I walked up behind him

'A dagger and some rope…'

"Who are you?" I put my blade to his throat.

He tried to push back against me but failed and I managed to pin him down on his stomach and then tied up his hands with the rope.

He struggled but soon gave up after seeing the difference in our strength.

"Who sent you and how many others are there?" He didn't answer so I stabbed my sword into the ground right next to his eyes.

"T-The Duke!" That fat bastard must've gotten suspicious or is just very careful.

"Are there others?" He hesitated so I stomped on his back.

"Okay, I'll tell ya!"

"Lower your voice. We don't want to alert the others now, do we? Because trust me, my partner is much worse than me." All the color left his face.

I imagined her and Angel with devil horns and laughed to myself, he heard this and began to tell me everything.

"So you're on your own and were staking out for any suspicious carriages, and would signal for the others who are deeper inside the forest, did I get that right?" He quickly nods.

I sat him up straight against a tree "I see, would you mind pointing in their direction?" He looked away.

I picked up my sword and stabbed it into the ground between his legs, 'the best way to scare a man? Threaten his little sword.' Those words were one of the pearls of wisdom my master left me with.

"H-Head up north and you'll find them!" It worked.

I picked up my sword and tossed him over my shoulder, "you lead the way." I wasn't going to trust myself with finding the right way in a forest, I know my limits.

"Where is he?!" Klaus shouted from the outside, Angel fell asleep while waiting for Sebastian.

I stepped out for some fresh air and found Klaus pacing back and forth.

"He said he'd take a piss, not a shit!" Maybe he got caught up with that shadow man…

"Yo, I'm back." Finally, he came back, he had some dirt on his robe and was dragging something behind him.

"Where have you been-" What I mistook for an animal at first, was actually a man.

"Your plan isn't as perfect as you thought, if he continued we would've gotten ambushed by these idiots."

He tossed the semi-conscious man at Klaus' feet.

"Take him with you on the way back to the capital, he was sent by the fat duke so you could probably make some use of him." He brushed off the dirt off his robe and went into the carriage.

I walked over to the man, 'no cuts, some bruises, and a bloody nose.' He slightly opened his eyes and was muttering something, Klaus and I leaned in closer.

"A monster… he's a monster…" then he fell unconscious.

"We'll interrogate him when we arrive at the next town. You go back in, we can't afford to waste any more time." He tossed the man on the back of his horse and got back on.

And I went back inside to find Sebastian cleaning his blade.

"How many were there?"

"Don't know, didn't keep count."

I sat back down and just watched him clean his blade.

We later learned that Sebastian had raided a camp of twenty-nine knights and somehow didn't kill any of them.
