Not Again - Chapter 22

Pov Eclipse

For the first time since I evolved, I do not feel the strange empty feeling whenever I am not in the moonlight. That of course was through tasting multiple different types of food. There was so much food, so many colors, so many new things, I was slightly afraid of being overwhelmed with all the new things like before, but thankfully I was all right.

At least I think so.

“Would you like to go outside with me Eclipse?”

Alea brought up suddenly as I watched the colony of humans walk on the street below. I hurriedly looked at Alea, excitedly flapping my wings once. I jumped down from the table that Alea placed under the window and promptly hit the ground.

It took me a second to righten myself as my legs slipped a multitude of times. But once I found my footing, I skipped with haste past Alea who was busy making a strange noise. I stopped by the stairs and waited for Alea.

“Yeah, yeah I’m coming Eclipse, you can wait by the door.”

Alea waved its hand.

I am willing to wait, but the second I figured out how to open doors, I am never waiting again.

I carefully made my way down the stairs and made it to the entrance to the house. I hopped in place, and thankfully Alea didn’t take too long.

Alea was not wearing the clothing it usually wore, which were blue clothing on its lower body and a wavy white piece of clothing on its upper body. This time Alea wore black rougher clothes on its lower body which had a smaller sword hanging off by its side. It also changed the white clothing to a green piece of clothing

Just before Alea opened the door, it knelt down in front of me and brought out a flat golden square with a green stone in the middle, it was connected to a black line.

“This right here will help me track you down if we ever split up, so don’t take it off.”

Alea said before placing what I suspected to be another amulet around my thorax, somehow Alea didn’t find the other amulet around my thorax, might be due to it disappearing, which this amulet didn’t do.

Alea stood up quickly and opened the door.

“Alright let's go!”

Finally, freedom! Or well, more freedom than before!

The humans seemed to like looking at me, as just walking by them caused them to look over. I think I’ll just ignore them like I did before.

Besides Alea should be right behind me. Right?

I quickly looked behind me to make sure that Alea was still behind me. And thankfully it was. It was currently looking at food that I have seen before and other objects that I haven’t seen before.

Alea would occasionally grab objects on the raised platforms and gave the human behind the raised platform a dull brown circle, sometimes it would give a couple of these dull circles.

I understood that these circles were given in turn for the objects, but I don’t understand why a human would want something so ugly.

Huh?

It seems I was too distracted by Alea that I did not notice that I walked into a large human in terms of size.

“Aw and who do we have here?”

Stolen story; please report.

Its voice was sweet and cheerful, I couldn’t focus on the horrid feeling I was feeling as I was suddenly picked up by the large human.

“Aw aren’t you a cute one.”

Everything was happening so fast that I couldn’t process the fact I was placed on my back in the human’s arms until I felt the human touch me just above my mouth with its finger. I moved my legs with zeal, yet it was futile as the human held me tightly yet gently. I looked angerly at the dried face of my captor.

“Ah ma’am please-”

I saw the blurry figure of Alea reaching to me, but the dried human reacted quickly

“Oh, dearie is this sweet baby yours? They are adorable!”

“Uhm yes Eclipse is mine-”

“Oh, what a lovely name you have Eclipse!”

The dried human let out a hearty laugh.

Even if you compliment me, I want out!

Something was telling me being here was a bad idea.

“Yes-”

“I have a little one too, she's even smaller than Eclipse here. Here I have some Memory Cards of her.”

With that the dried human dug through its clothes with one hand as Alea stood there awkwardly waiting.

“Where is it... Oh here it is!”

The dried-out human pulled out a small white rectangle. I could barely see them from where I was held, but what I could see was that the small white rectangle fell out of the human’s arm and was carried by the wind in a wide circle.

“Oh, dearie I am so sorry, just let me...”

“Nonono its fine ma’am, here let me help you. Just let Eclipse down, it-”

Pov Alea

Just as I was about tell the old lady to put down Eclipse, I flipped over one of the Memory Cards and almost didn’t catch the old lady suddenly get the agility of a high-level assassin. My reaction speed was quick compared to others since I was a former gold archer, but it seems my retirement has dulled my senses, as the old lady threw down a smoke bomb and the street was suddenly engulfed in thick grey smoke.

My flaming bow appeared before the screaming started and I immediately nocked an Arrow of Sight and fired it into the sky.

The arrow flew and I noticed immediately that it was being dissolved.

I grit my teeth and crouched down low to the ground. As a colorful explosion filled the sky not too far above me.

Smoke is too thick...

This brat came prepared. Relying on my memory, I ran towards the alleyway that I passed by. Thankfully, the smoke ended just outside the alleyway, so I was finally able to see, and even more importantly was able to use my magic arrows.

I shot another Arrow of Sight into the sky, and this time it flew high and true, stopping midair before a blue circle expanded from the tip towards the ground. The vision of my right eye turned grey as red humanoid figures appeared all around me. Some were running around, some were crouching, others were just standing there.

Then I noticed a humanoid running through the crowd, carrying something looking like Eclipse.

I immediately nocked a Specter Arrow and was about to let it loose but stopped myself.

There are too many people.

My hesitation caused the kidnapper to escape the blue zone as it dissipated into pure magic. I punched the wall beside me, pain flooded my body, but I ignored it.

“Damn it!”

I yelled into the air, my bow disappeared, and I hurriedly reached into my robes and broke the crystal inside.

My husband better have the Emergency Crystal.

The crystal shards dissipated, not harming my hand, something I was thankful for. I then pulled out an amulet that was like the amulet I gave to Eclipse and stared at it. Taking a deep breath, I put it away. I looked into the thick smoke slowly clearing ahead of me.

Best not to activate it until Rod comes.

Pov Kidnapper

HAHAHA That was a retired gold Merc? Bullshit. That was too easy, fucking Trev must’ve got the info fucked up again.

I couldn’t complain though, easiest payout of the year, the client is a big shit too.

Finally, I can move out of the shit hole that is the slums. Never again will I have to body shift to a female form again!

I felt a shudder enter my body as I remembered all the groping and other creepy ass shit, I was forced to endure just so Michelle could steal some shit from an asshole. Yet I couldn’t stop a smile from appearing on my face as I thought of all the shit I could do with the payout.

I cleared the corner and went into the alley, removing a stone tile and popping underneath carefully to not damage the product which was currently throwing a fit in a potato bag. There wasn’t that much space in here, but thankfully the product wasn’t too big, throwing it over my shoulder worked well enough.

As the ladder ended, I jumped the last few feet, my foot landed on something mushy making me grimace and wipe the hopefully not shit off the sewer wall.

These shoes were expensive too, fuck.

With a scowl I ran off down the tunnel towards the meeting place.
